Please do. The meals sound good, but I don't like not having pictures.

honw long does it take to actually start losing??
I will definitely try, but it's hard when you aren't thirsty. How do you make yourself drink more when you don't really want anything? Also when I do drink it is too fast. Before surgery I usually only drank with my meals, and hardly anything in between. I will have to do better.

honw long does it take to actually start losing??
I had surgery on 2/8/10, and when I weighed yesterday at the two week mark, I had lost 16 pounds. I'm not drinking nearly enough, and I'm definately not getting close to 1000 calories. I just started the mushy stage, but foods are not sitting well. I get nausea, and I have a spastic stomach. I think my spastic stomach is acting up again since the surgery. I hope things get better as my stomach didn't bother me before surgery.

POST OP Diet
I did. My grandmother made me potato soup, but it was runny. It did have some lumps, but those didn't bother me. I had pudding, but I don't think I was to have that until the mushie stage. I started on mushies yesterday, and I don't think things are sitting well. I hope my stomach will be able to handle food again one day :tongue_smilie:. I'm a little discouraged that things are not sitting well. I guess I'm still healing?

give me your quick and easy lunch ideas please....
What does the Boca products taste like? I'm a picky eater, but these look good. I just don't know if I would like them.

Coach to 5k (who wants to run?)
For those with boob problems, ya'll may want to look into getting a sports bra like at Fleet Feet. The brand I got from there is Moving Comfort. They make bras for big chested woman, and they really do help. I walked/run a half-marathon in one last April, and my boobs didn't hurt at all afterwards.

drinking too much post-op
I have the opposite problem. I don't drink enough. I drink an Atkins shake in the morning, and I don't need anything until lunch. I lost 10 pounds in one week, which I thought was amazing, but I'm not really hungry so I don't drink. I don't think I will be drinking anymore Atkins shakes after I can eat real food (except maybe for the day or two after a fill). This two weeks of full liquids is getting old.

Port placement?
Mine is right under my left breast.

Port placement?
Mine hurts real bad when I bend over, and I can tell it's there. I'm only one week in so I guess it will get better.

Not Drinking Enough Post-Op
I was banded Feb. 8, and I am having trouble getting all my liquids in. I probably drink half of what I'm suppose to. I'm not hungry or anything, but I'm not thirsty either. I have one more week of full liquids then on to mushies. Is this a problem and did anyone else have trouble getting in the required liquids post-op?
-
Port placement?
I have the realize band as well, and I think mine is under my breast too. I have a 2-inch incision under my breast, and it hurts like heck when I bend over so I guess that is where it is. I thought it was a problem b/c I thought it was suppose to be near the belly button, but I guess it differs.

Last Supper Syndrome?!?!
Can we eat bread? What about biscuits or stuff like that? I thought I read where it didn't go down well. I know my dietitian said I couldn't eat Subway unless I got the wrap. I'm a picky eater so I feel I'm going to get tired of eating the same meals all the time. Oh well, it is worth it.

Clear Liquid Diet Question
I only have to have a clear liquid diet one day prior to my surgery. Is strained chicken noodle soup (just the broth) okay on this? What else is good to eat on this diet? I know the usually tea, water, popsicles, jello, etc.

Hey February 2010 Bandsters!
I just got my surgery date today. It is for Feb. 8. I only have to do a clear liquid diet on Sunday before so it won't be that bad.

Caffeine????
I have been going off diet coke, and the headaches are horrible. I decided to just try to give up caffeine b/c they are really bad for 2 weeks now. I wake up with one and tylenol doesn't help.

This has me scared....
I hear there is a bigger chance of dying having the bypass than the band, but both have risks as does any surgery.

This has me scared....
The people I know (my brother included) that had gastric bypass has gained weight with it. I think it depends on the person, and if that person is really committed to changing their life. My brother had a horrible first year after his bypass surgery, and it is true that you loss about all the weight in a year's time. I would rather lose it slow so that is why I am choosing the band. Sorry but I just don't want my stomach cut and bypassed.

Is it hard to quit drinking Diet Coke?
Okay. I been at this for amost two weeks. I drink one can diet coke at breakfast and one with supper. Everything else is water. I am having the biggest headaches. Today was horrible. My headache made my stomach hurt. I drank a diet coke with supper tonight, and my headache went away. I think I am just going to have to give up caffeine in any form b/c I feel like these headaches will not get better. I didn't think these withdrawals took so long to get over.

High Protein Level in my Blood Work
My regular doctor just called me today, and said I have Vitamin D deficiency as well as high Protein levels in my blood work. Is this going to be problem where my weight loss doctor will not do the surgery on me? Or are these things easily corrected even with the band? I also have a question that doesn't have to do with blood work. What does everyone eat for lunch at work? I know now I usually go get something, but I know I will stop that once I have the surgery.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
Luckily my doctor doesn't do the pre-op liquid diet.

Is it hard to quit drinking Diet Coke?
I love diet coke, and this was one of my biggest concerns going in to the surgery. I know that I'm not suppose to drink it after I have the surgery, but I drink like 6 cans of this stuff a day. Is it hard to quit drinking diet coke? I tried to quit drinking it a few years ago, but after a week of very bad headaches I gave up. I know it's the caffeine, but I've been drinking diet coke for as long as I can remember. I don't really like Splenda tea, but I guess I will have to get use to it.

How soon is surgery is scheduled after follow with surgeon?
Since I am self-pay, I guess the process will go faster? I see the doctor on Jan. 25 and hope to have surgery 1-2 weeks after that. I have already had all my tests done, and my doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet!

Pre-Op Diet????
I don't have to do a pre-op diet. I just have to start getting used to eating less and more healthy and not drinking soft drinks. My doctor doesn't require the 14 day pre-op liquid diet, thank goodness.
