I did. My grandmother made me potato Soup, but it was runny. It did have some lumps, but those didn't bother me. I had pudding, but I don't think I was to have that until the mushie stage. I started on mushies yesterday, and I don't think things are sitting well. I hope my stomach will be able to handle food again one day :tongue_smilie:. I'm a little discouraged that things are not sitting well. I guess I'm still healing?

I did. As of last Wed, I've finally eaten "normal" food, meaning meats, veggies, etc. I've lost almost 20 pounds so far, & no, it's not Fluid weight either. I've been on fluid pills for over a year because I retain a lot of fluid in my ankles. So where most people lose that "fluid" weight, I didn't. This is actual pounds being lost! I'm kind of at a stop right now for the last week, but I think it's due to eating more dense foods.

I had the same problem when I started on being able to eat well-cooked veggies. TONS of trips to the bathroom. I was hating "real" food at that point. I would have taken a liquid diet over that any day! But alas, it got better. It's just your body re-adjusting to no food intake. It takes time, but within a day or so, everything was smooth & has been ever since! Good luck! :tongue_smilie:

I stuck with my post-op diet. I don't remember now is I was on full liquids for a week or two weeks. But for me, for the first few weeks post-op I really did not have much of an appetite at all.

Immediately post-op is not the time to push it. Your body is healing and the post-op diets we are prescribed are aimed at giving your body time to recover.

I was on Clear Liquids for 3 days then was moved to mushies at my first post-op appointment which was 3 days after sugery. I'm now 18 days post-up and have lost 5 lbs since surgery.

My Dr says liquids for two weeks, mushies for 2 weeks after that. Just wondering about other Dr.'s?

I did--the first week, I was not hungry anyway. My next was pureed for two weeks, then soft solids/mushee. I was really scared not to truthfully

I did. I made lots of thick home made Soup and that filled me up, it was hard but it was doable.

It is important to stick to the diet that your dr gives you. the post op liquid diet is designed to allow the band to settle and heal into place and to help prevent a future slip.

If you do eat ahead of the diet you may feel fine, you may think you have done no damage but you may have caused a problem that will only show up later.

If you are preop you should be focussing on ways of making sure that you are able to stick with the programme.Hopefully you are not looking for justification to cheat by seeing how many others did.

Hope it all goes well.

i started scrammbled eggsW/ cheese after 1 week. Just do one at first and see how that works. Also when i do have 2 I take 1 yolk out and toss it out. The Protein is in the white. I mix in a small amount of skim milk. This makes it very moist. If you use cheese go no-fat

Mine says the same. I am being band a week from today and have no plans of cheating. I've come this far. What are a few more weeks?

If you don't follow your Dr's orders to the tee I would not call it cheating. If you look around this site you will see just about every doctor has there own eating schedule they give you for post-op. I am a very active person and the post-op eating schedule made me light headed. I used common sense and took it slow when I went ahead with real food again.

If I start to feel light-headed after a week, I will call my surgeon's office and ask their advice.

I researched my surgeon very well before calling his office for the first time. I have total faith in him and his staff and am doing what I'm told.

I had my post-op counseling yesterday and the nurse justified the post-op diet very clearly. If you don't do the suggested diet, you increase your chances of early erosion.

As I said earlier, relatively speaking, what is a few more weeks?

She also said melted ice cream is not a liquid :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
