  1. The band is a fickel thing. My story is I had .2 put in- and couldn't keep down protien shakes. The doc. took out .9 because he said there was swelling. He warned me that I would be hungry. However, I have been in a great place. Hunger under control and everything going down just fine. I can't explain it, but I'll take it.
  2. I agree with pervious posts. Be assertive with your doctor. Explain exactly how much you can eat and how you feel in terms of hunger. You might want to journal it and bring it will you to your next appointment. Good luck!
  3. I can understand your hesitation to tell him. Maybe once you know each other better you will be comfortable discussing it. In the mean time I would stick to the "I am full" scenerio. It's not a lie, you are full. He just doesn't have to know why. I think you will know when the time is right to bring it up. Best wishes, hope things go well with your new man.
  4. Hi All, Just wondering how people banded around the same time as me are doing. I was banded on Nov. 16th 09. I have lost 88.5 pounds as of Sunday, bringing me to 128.5 My goal is between 110 and 115 (I am only 4'11"). I hope to achieve that by my 1 year mark. I workout about 4 days a week with cardio and 3 days a week with my trainer on weights. Weight loss has sure slowed down. I lost a total of 3 pounds in the last month. I know it's to be expected but still not fun. I know if I up the cardio that will help. Look forward to reading updates.
  5. Compliments go a long way to keeping me motivated. Sounds like tha is the case for you too. Congrats!
  6. I think some people's ports are easier to find than others. My doc. doesnt have trouble, since I lost weight the port sticks out just a little.
  7. pbing stands for productive burping. It's when you throw up some or all of what's in your pouch. It typically happens when your too tight, eat to much too fast (too big bites, not enough chewing). It's not good but it doesn't feel horrible. The food basically comes right back up, no heaving or anything. For me, before it happens I get a pain in my chest with some nausea. Once I pb I feel fine.
  8. Hope your enjoying your new car. Changes sure can produce anxiety. If it's really bad you might want to see a doc. about medication for anxiety. Hope you feel better soon. Just think of how much healthier and probably happier you will be as the weight comes off.
  9. I sure do feel for you. You had a lot happen all at once! You don't say how well things are staying down. If you can't keep fluids down, I would call the doc. Actually, you might want to call and let them know what's going on. Hope you feel better soon.
  10. As long as you can get water and shakes down I think you can wait it out. From what I've read on here, so doc. keep patients on liquids for a couple days after a fill. I would stay with liquids for 2-3 days then progress to mushie- just my humble opinion. Let us know how you do.
  11. It's normal for your hunger to come back once the selling from surgery reduces. That's good your calling the doc. maybe you can get in earlier for a fill. Not to be negative, but the first fill may not produce restriction. It took me 3 fills. Good luck on your journey!
  12. Worked out with my trainer- 30 minutes of abs. Took a break from cardio- will do 40 minutes on the treadmill tomorrow morning.
  13. My hair starting thining so I went to the dermatologist. He said it was probably due to the rapid weight loss. However, he said it could be an underactive thyroid or a new medicine I started. May just be something to wait out. Much to my relief he told me I wont go bald lol. Best wishes.
  14. I like to eat marinated meat. I buy perdue perfect portion chicken breat. They are individually wrapped, I throw the bag in the freezer and take one out at a time. I also like marinated lean pork loin. They come in a variety of flavors. You just bake it in the oven for about 30-49 minutes. I eat low fat cheese sticks and almonds for snacks. Also, berries and cottage cheese. Cottage cheese comes in snack packs with are just the right amount. Hope this helps, good luck.
  15. I eat Atkins bars. I think they have 8 grams of fat. I don't think it's significant, most other things I eat are very very low in fat. Remember, your body needs some fat to absorb fat soluable vitamins. Best wishes!
  16. The band will not be a magic cure. As said, it is only a tool. A very helpfull tool once you have restriction. For sure, the fact you like "real food" as oppossed to sweets is not a reason the band won't work for you. Good luck!
  17. I think you need to find healthy habits that will help you grieve and then move on from your sisters death. Excersise is a great idea. You might also try journaling- just let the pen go and write down what your feeling. Don't be afraid to accept support from the people around you. The main thing is to not let your feelings get bottled up. Best wishes!
  18. 40 minutes on the treadmill- walk 2 minutes/jog 2 minutes.
  19. You may be surprised at the support you get. For me, it was acually my mom who suggested I look into it. My whole family has been extremely supportive. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
  20. What adagray said about pushing down feelings is right on. A big reason people overeat is too stuff there feelings. It is great you are asserting yourself! Your husband probably just needs some time to adjust. True love will survive even though one partner looses lots of weight, and in additon, becomes more assertive. Keep communication with your husband open. I think you will be fine.
  21. Glad your band didn't slip! From what my doc. says, the symptom of a slipped band is that suddenly you can't keep down even clear fluids. Best wishes!
  22. You have done great- congrats
  23. You have to factor in the calories. Drinking is lots of calories. To have a healthy diet, I wouldn't do it to often. I think you will find what works for you. Rememeber, no carbonation, so that means no beer. Best wishes!
  24. Did a step aerobic routine I do at home- it's about 35 minutes.
  25. I was banded Nov. 16th, 2009. I am very happy with the result, only regret is I didn't do it sooner. I have lost 88 pounds as of last Sun. I eat very healthy, stick to a lowcarb, lowfat, high protien diet. I do cardio about 5 times a week, and do weights with a trainer 3 days a week.
