Advice on strategies for when you want to binge and can't
To stop turning to food when in an emotional state is a tough one to stop. I see a counselor and that helps a lot. Highly reccomend it. Try to get to the source of your feelings and find a productive way to handle it. Food only comforts for so long. For example, if your lonely, call someone on the phone. Don't be afraid to express your feelings to those around you. Talk can be great therapy! Best wishes!

Exercise Goals #3
Skipped my trainer (bad girl, I just didn't want to get out of bed). Good news is I did 40 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill. I hope I see the payoff on my weigh in day- Sunday!

i haven't been doing things right..
Sounds like you may not be eating enough. Your body can go into starvation mode if you don't eat enough calories. That's great your swimming- keep it up and do it as often as possible. The workouts will really help the weightloss. Good luck!

Feeding the Cravings
I do the EAS chocolate shakes too (carb controled).

Meal guidance sought from those non-newbies
My daily diet is very consistant, here's a typical day: Breakfast- 1 protien shake (EAS reduced carb) after a 40 minute workout. Lunch: 1 small can of tuna with 1Tbl. low fat mayo and 3 Kavili crackers (10 carbs and 50 cals for the crackers) Snack- 1 snack pack of cottage cheese and 1/2c blueberries (berries are low in carbs compared to other fruit) Dinner- 4 oz of chicken and some sort of non-starchy veggie and maybe a lowfat cheese stick Snack- 1/4 c almonds and if I haven't already eaten it 1 lowfat cheese stick. (My nut. says to get 2 servings of dairy a day)

Tips n Tricks- Snack Advise Please?!?
Iagree with the reduced fat cheese sticks- I eat them all the time. Nuts in moderation are a good snack option as well. I eat 1/4c almonds as a snack almost every day. There is some fat, but it's healthy fat. I think it' the fat that helps fill me up. Good luck!

Questions: Confused and mad.
I get hungry about every 2-3 hours, have since getting banded. Depending on how I am doing fill wise, I get satisfied with what I eat. I allow myself some snacks. Eat 4-5 times a day. I know it's different then what lots of people have talked about but it has been my experience. Good luck!

Exercise Goals #3
40 minutes on the treadmill walk/jog. Felt great, I have started pushing myself a little further.

woo hoo 1st NSV
It was a great great start! You have taken a huge step. Excersise will increase your speed of weighloss and ensure your gaining muscle not loosing it. Keep it up!

Had the band in for three weeks, considering removal.. advice?
Wow- you have had a hard time. There are lots of success stories on this forum. I have had very little side effects. Only trouble was after the last 2 fills I couldn't even keep down a protein shake- had to have unfills. Frustrating, but tolerable. I don't know if you could still have lots of swelling from surgery. Work with your doctor and let us know how you do. Good luck!

No slippage yeah
Glad to hear your band didn't slip! Do you think you could be eating to fast/not chewing enough?????

Exercise Goals #3
Good workout on the treadmill. 40 minutes of walk/jog. I increased the jog time from 2 to 3 minutes. Felt really good.

For Bandsters who are hypo- or hyper- thyroid
I have hypo too- I have lost fairly steadily since being banded Nov. 2009. My levels have been where they should be. My doc. wants to keep an eye on it though- he said dosage is weight related.

Question About Pouch Stretching
I don't think the pouch stretches that easily. The stomach has a lot of give to it. However, I'm going to talk to the doc. about it when I see him in a week. I haven't had restriction in about 2 weeks so I am a little concerned about stretching.
-
Why am I so scared of Slippage?!?!?!?
My doc. says if the band slipped you suddently wouldn't be able to keep anything down. I think you are fine. Congrats on your surgery!

Exercise Goals #3
40 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill. Ran into a friend at the gym which made the time go by much faster.

Ended up in Emergency Room. ByeBye Blood Pressure Meds
Good for you! I know how excited I was to get off not only blood pressure, but blood sugar and choesterol meds.

Going on vacation
I would discuss your concerns with your doctor. I agree, being overfilled while your out of town would not be good to say the least. Again, talk to your doc. and the 2 of you can come up with a plan.

I want the weight to come off!
I would add start working out if you haven't already. If you are, try an increase time and/or intensity. It really does wonders for weightloss. I had a stall in weightloss but then kicked up what I do on the treadmill. I lost 1.5 pounds last week. I am happy with that, as I am getting down to the last 15 pounds or so.

Food addiction ???
Hi all, I am wondering where people stand on the idea of being a food addict. I have other addiction issues, and consider food to be just another one. I completly stay away from refined carbs and high fat foods. My feeling is I will have to abstain for the rest of my life. I am no good at doing things in moderation. Do others feel the same way? I am curious to read people's feedback. Thanks!

2 questions?
My doc. says no carbonation too. Same reason, can cause the pouch to stretch. As for a slipped band my doc. said you suddenly wouldn't be able to keep anything down, including liquids. 2 good questions.

Milestone
Good for you! Isn't it nice shopping can actually be fun. Best wishes and keep up the great work!

Losing my Hair!!!
I know loosing hair is scary. It was happening to me so I went to the dermatologist. Much to my relief he told me I won't go bald. He said your body goes into a kind of shock with rapid weightloss. Just give it a little time and it should resolve itsself. I have read people using biotin, don't know anything about it. Best wishes!

10 months and FINALLY restriction at 6cc!
Glad you finally got to restriction. I am sure the doc.s error was frustrating. Keep up the good work!

Had my surgery Thursday morn. and just now feeling a little better
Hang in there! It does get better. I would try protien shakes if your doc allows them the first week post surgery, mine did. Infact, I buy them at Walmart. EAS carb control. They come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I find I like the taste but it took a little getting used to. Good luck on your journey!
