  1. My Dr. suggested bypass as well but I immediately told him that was not for me. At that time he looked at me and said ok we will do the band but your weight loss is going to be very slow. I told him I wanted to lose 48 lbs the first year he said that was doable but probably not much more(I don't think he wanted me to think I could shed weight as fast as everyone else. Which I already knew....I am an aerobics instructor, bicycler, do triathlons, and ran a 1/2 marathon 6months before I had surgery. I know it takes a miracle for me to lose weight. Anyways I am only down 37 lbs since Dec but also down 23 inches. When I get down my Mom says....when was the last time you were able to lose 37 lbs and keep it off? That kind of puts things back in perspective for me. So...even though the weight loss is slow it is still weight loss....hang in there you will be thinner before you know it :tt2:

I upped my protein and started taking Biotin. Hair loss has almost stopped!
  3. That just goes to show you that everyone is different. I am at 5 cc in a 10 and cannot eat bread of any form. I have a little restriction. Restriction scares me though cuz I am the queen of sliming. I haven't lost much either. Only 37 lbs since dec 20 09. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome that makes my weight lost slow. And Some ppl just lose it slower. You may need another fill or two. What does your doc say?
  4. Yes when I get upset or stressed or nervous I do the same. I get extrememly tight and if I push it I will slime but that may be because I am the queen of sliming. I will get so tight water gurgles. I took a few moments to think about it and you know I decided that is just the band doing it's job. In the past when I would get upset or stressed I would eat so in my mind I am saying that the band is keeping me from emotional eating however I know it is frustrating not to be able to eat. Trust me it is the end of the fiscal year at my work and I haven't been able to eat much either because of the stress.

I am almost 7 months post op. I take a multivitamin, folic acid, iron (I've always been anemic), biotin(cuz my hair was falling out), liquid B complex(wasn't absorbing the pill...B12 is low), fiber chews, and calcium w D chews. It looks like I have a complete pharmacy on my desk...lol For someone who doesn't like to swallow pills I sure have learned how to. Are you pre or post op?
  6. YAY!!! That is so much fun! Isn't it such a great feeling to be able to yank pants down without unbuttoning or zipping. I LOVE IT!
  7. OMG! That is disgusting....so glad Mcdonalds doesnt go down anymore!
  8. I always love your blogs. You are so inspirational to me. I am guilty of living life in the fast lane which is probably why I am not satisfied with the amount of weight I have lost so far but like you said slow down, enjoy life...you are so right....it will come.
  9. I am sorry you hate the gym. I love the gym....have always loved working out...it just makes me feel better. Ok...so now that you hate me too I just wanted to give you some suggestions. Try a group fitness class. My favorites are Body Pump, Spinning classes, and Zumba or any kind of dance class. Get a friend to go with you and just go have a good time and laugh. Another suggestion is pick a "program" and work towards a goal. It gives you something to focus on besides each step you are taking on that treadmill. Couch to 5k is a great program. Or set a specific goal and work towards it. Right now I am trying to cut down my time on my 5k. Each workout I am competing with myself to beat my last time. And when you beat your last time or amount of weights you do or amount of reps you do you will feel so good. Good luck!

Bodybugg is a calorie counter that you were on your arm. It measures how many calories you burn by using 4 different techniques. google it and you will see. J_bandRanger - The cost is very expensive...for me anyways....that's why I am trying to find out if it is worth it. AprilTX - Has your friend lost weight by using it?

I am looking at purchasing a BodyBugg. Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Is it hard to wear....like could I wear it to work and it not be extremely noticable?
  12. I hope you have restriction after this fill. I have days that I am really restricted and then I have days that I am not restricted at all.
  13. Whoohoo! You are looking fantastic!
  14. Whoohoo! A loss is a loss. That's what I keep telling myself...of course I was up 2 lbs this morning but it is that time of month so I am not going to beat myself up about it. Im with you on the snakes....I DON'T like them. So far I haven't seen any at my house yet this year thank goodness. Keep up the good work. You are doing great!

Maggs, Thanks. My dr. is a jerk but the next nearest one is 2.5 hours away. That is just not feasible . I know it is good I am working out but I worked out all the time before surgery...did 1/2 marathons, triathlons, etc. It just takes time I know...THank you for the encouraging words and good luck with your surgery. Keep me posted on your progress Lose It - I know there are ppl out there that have lost less but dang it I want to lose more! Lol. I know I am averaging 6 lbs a month but it doesn't seem like it cuz 20 of that came off the week after surgery...I had a rough time with the anesthesia and had to go in for a 2nd surgery 3 days later and had nothing by mouth for 5 days but doing fine now. So I have basically lost 16 lbs since the initial drop and the frustrating thing is that I will go 6-8 weeks and not lose anything and then finally lose 4-5 lbs. Until those 4-5 lbs come off I am in agony stepping on the scales everyday and seeing no progress. I am trying to keep my chin up:) Thanks! I also am trying to eat only whole foods and very little processed food. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog...You guys are what gets me through!

Hi guys, I am having a rough time and it doesn't help that I have a dr that doesn't seem to care. I had an appointment yesterday and for the 3rd time he told me that I was just an enigma to him. He called me a freak of nature last time. I am losing weight very very slowly. I knew I would lose it slower than most because I have PCOS(Polycystic ovarian syndrome) but I am creeping. Does anyone have any suggestions on helping me shed lbs a little faster...not way fast but 1-2 lbs a week? I am teetering between 33-36 lbs down since Dec 20, 2009. I have lost 22 inches though. I workout 4-5 times a week. I slime everyday and not always the same things...it is pretty much hit or miss but meat usually comes back up unless it is a good day or it is very very very moist like in some kind of sauce or ketchup or something. Any advise would be appreciated. I am just feeling defeated and asking myself why I had this done in the first place. I have more medical issues now than before surgery.:bored:

onikenbai, I am in the same boat as you just not as extreme. I slime/puke everyday at least once a day sometime 5-6 times a day. This has been going on with me for about 2-3 months. The only day I have not puked in the last 2 months was Memorial day. I don't know why but I didn't puke that day. Sometimes I can keep the food down for an hour or so as well and then I feel queasy, my mouth starts watering and I slime. Meats for me come up about 80-90% of the time. Everything else is a crap shoot as well except cheetos and funyuns....they dissolve in your mouth. My dr. in unconcerned as well. He says as long as I can keep liquid down I am ok.....SERIOUSLY!!!! I would like him to be in my shoes for one day. I found some whey protein shots that go down easy. They are 3 ounces and 26 grams of protein. Also have you tried soy protein....it works better for me....If I do a whole shake with the whey I am sick too... So sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel. There are times I don't eat just because I don't wanna puke! Sad. I am starting to think eating is just too big of a hassle. Like yourself, I am not losing weight either or if I do it is very very slowly but I am not gaining and I am losing inches so I gotta be happy about that. I go see my Dr. on the 9th. If by some chance he gives me any suggestions this time (I doubt it) I will definately let you know! Keep your head up my dear!
  18. I too am a slow loser and I am trying to take the mentality that it is giving our skin time to catch up. I know it is frustrating. People at church have asked me what I am doing wrong...why I haven't dropped 60 plus pounds. I just have to tell myself that everyone is different and my body is changing slowly for the better. hang in there you look great!
  19. Girl 24 lbs in 3.5 months is fantastic. Besides you are probably still in bandster hell and very well may need another fill. I am losing very slow but my dr. says that's ok. My friend asked me this question so I am gonna ask you. When was the last time you were you able to lose 24 lbs and keep it off? You are doing great! Keep up the good work.
  20. Whoohoo! Congrats! I know what you mean. I didn't eat supper tonight...just not hungry. Oh and french fries....girl I don't touch them with a 10 foot pole. Not only do they not taste good when chewed forever I slime them up EVERY time. Mentally it makes me sad....I love me some frenchy fries but physically it is a good thing. Keep up the good work and keep us informed!
  21. Congrats!!! WHOOHOOO!
  22. Ok guys, I need some opinions. I am experiencing major water retention. I used to go up anywhere between 5-10 lbs anywhere from 5-7 days before I started my period then once I started my period it would leave. So I have currently been swollen for 3 weeks. My ankles are kankles and I can't get my rings on. I thought this started because on 4/17 I did a 30 mile bike ride. I ate some rice and a little pasta 2 days before so I would have some carbs to burn off. I don't tolerate pasta to well anymore so only had a tiny bit of it. Anyways I thought oh I am a little swollen becuase of the carbs holding water. Did my 30 mile bike ride. The next week still swollen. Then this past week still swollen but it was period week. Well period has come and gone and I am still swollen. Maybe not as bad but still bad enough that I still don't have ankles and can't get my rings on. Does anyone have any suggestions/home remedies? I have tried several and even over the counter diuretic. It didn't help just turned my pee blue(color of the pill). Should I talk to my Dr. about this?

  24. I always bruise after my fills. My bruises are usually a little bigger than a quarter. My Dr. said that was normal but you may want to ask your Dr. I bruise easy anyways. Also, my Dr. has had to go very slow with my fills...it just seems like if he puts much in there it ticks my band off...one time I was on liquids for almost 3 weeks. Just give it time and maybe ask for smaller fills if that is an option for you. The most I have had at one time is 2 cc's. I have had 3 fills and am at 5 cc's now. Best of luck!
  25. Wow! Great job! Keep up the good work!
