SO last night the bf and I had a usual date night and we went to the mall. I was in need of some new dress pants. My presurg pants are just too big. So I was trying on pants and I started with a size 16 hoping they would not be to little and you know what they were too big!!!! I was so excited. So I went and got a 14. They were a little snug around the waist for me (probably just me though cuz I don't like things to touch me) but hopefully they won't me to tight for long. So I had them order me a 14 tall in 2 colors cuz they didn't have any talls. Plus I had a coupon so I got 2 pairs for $60 where they had been $60 each! It just shows that even though I have only lost 40 lbs in the last 9 months I am losing inches.
  2. Yes!!!! I am here to testify that any kind of surgery is risky. Before I had my lapband surgery I was SO healthy other than weight. My surgeon said I have no worries you will come out of surgery fine. Well I didn't. I had a bad reaction to anesthesia and slipped by band immediately. Had a 2nd surgery 3 days later and ended up with my lungs collapsing during surgery and going into tachycardia. When the surgeon and respiratory therapist came in my room that night and told me that I said WHAT!?!?!?! I just ran a half marathon a few months ago how could my lungs collapse??? I also taught 8-10 aerobic classes a week. That proves to you that it doesnt' matter how healthy surgery is always a risk. I hope you are doing well and glad you got your slip fixed. You look great!
  3. I like #2 and #5. Super cute
  4. Awh Janet you are such a sweetheart. You made me cry and smile all in one blog. You are absolutely right....Success is being happy and healthy. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in lbs or inches and forget about being happy and grateful just like in everyday life when we get so caught up in whatever we forget to thank the Creator of it all. Thanks for all of your posts! God Bless!
  5. They gave me one injection after surgery that is all I had.

    you go girl!
  9. I had surgery for a combo of reasons. One being vanity the other was because I have PCOS and the extra weight will hinder me trying to get pregnant when I decide I want to try. Also, my family history....I am trying to avoid diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, you name it...I was given a bad set of genes. Anyways, you will have to decide if you want to tell anyone. I told everyone....I figured it would make me more accountable and I was also hopeful I would inspire others. Some days....I wish I hadn't told anyone but close family and friends. This is mostly because people are ignorant and I mean literally ignorant about the band. They don't understand. I have a guy that sits behind me in the choir at church that asks me every week how much I have lost and if the have me "cinched" all the way up yet. He even does a hand motion of squeezing when he says cinched. He keeps asking why I haven't lost more...he just truely doesn't understand. No one at work has said much about it at least I haven't heard them say anything. My grandmother was absolutely against it. She asked prayer for me before I had surgery that God would open my eyes and make me come to my senses. This was at church in a very rural little community so I am faily confident the whole county knew by then end of the evening. She still begs for my mom to make me have it taken out. She told my mom I could just have it taken out and then quit eating and I would lose weight. Because of the PCOS my weight loss has been super slow but hey...when was the last time I have lost 40 lbs and kept it off? I have just learned to ignore negative people in regards to the band and dismiss it to the fact that they just don't understand. I mean...how many of these negative people have ever battle a weight issue....NONE is my case. Good luck and remember you have a whole supportive family on this website....everyone has been great to me!
  10. That sounds fantastic!
  11. Way to go! I know you will have the last 6 lbs off. You are a trooper and so inspirational. I love reading your blogs. Keep up the good work.

Well, As of Saturday I am down 40 lbs! Whoohooo! It only took me 8 1/2 months but finally I am there and under 250. Slowly but surely right? Now Time to start working on the next mini goal.
  14. I didn't struggle with the emotional part too much until I started getting fills. I think mine is mostly because I was and have also been an emotional eater. Now that I can't eat for my emotions I have to deal with whatever is triggering that emotion. Right now I am too tight and that in itself causes me to be blue. Trying not to eat sliders but tired of sliming everytime I try to eat something no matter how much I chew. I hope your blues pass. I have found if I will do something to get my mind off of it it helps. Also exercise helps because your body releases endorphins and that makes you feel better. You will feel better as you start losing weight. It is worth it. Good luck and remember everyone on this site is a great support system. God Bless

I have used the EAS and it is ok but my favorite right now is Nectar by Syntrax. They have all kinds of flavors. My fav right now is the chocolate truffle. 23 g of protein per scoop and no carb or fat. I mix it with milk. I dilute it cuz it taste kind of sweet to me so I will do 16 oz of milk instead of 8. That makes the shake worth 42 grams of protein.

Hi Rose. Congrats on your weight loss that is fantastic. I do the same thing alot. There is no rhyme or reason and my dr doesn't know why I do it either. He said if I keep doing it we are going to take a little fluid out but I don' t really want to do that.

I have wanted to name mine for awhile but I can't decide on a name cuz it is so tempermental. Some days I think it is a girl and some days a boy. Suggestions?

Nectar by syntrax is the bomb!
  19. Im sorry to hear you had such a rough time. I understand your pain. I was there too. I had a bad reaction to anesthesia and ended up herniating my stomach over my band so I got to go back in 3 days later for another surgery. No fun I will tell you that. Anyways don't worry about weight right now. My dr. told me the first month is all about healing not weight loss. I didn't have any restriction after my 1st fill though. I could still eat french fries and nuggets. Can't now though. Took 3 fills for me to feel any kind of restriction. Hang in there.

nectar by syntrax. They are the best I have found so far. Also the Body Fortress Protein Shots in 3 oz tubes at Walmart aren't too bad.

I had a little bit of a rough start but am ok now. I am having really slow weight loss but that was to be expected with my PCOS. However I am with Gorda123...it is very very frustrating. It has definately been harder for me mentally than physically. I think this is because I have always been an emotional eater and now I am having to deal with those emotions instead of eat for them. I am trying to be postitive though and approach it with the mentality of when was the last time I have been able to lose 37 lbs and keep it off. You will have to make this decision yourself. It is something you have to do for you and nobody else but I do think the band is a great tool but it still requires you to do the work. Good luck and keep us posted!

Jennay - The protein shots have 26 grams of protein. No carbs and I think about 110 calories...something like that. They are about $2 a piece or sometimes I can find a box of 6 for $10. Everything is expensive...it is so much cheaper to eat unhealthy but I am trying to tell myself in the long run it will be cheaper....fewer dr. visits, no meds...cuz I will be healthy!

The Isopure stuff is disgusting...I mean disgusting. I bought the 8 oz bottle and couldn't finish that. lol. If you want some good protein try the brand nectar by syntrax. I get mine from allstarhealth.com but you might find them somewhere local if you are in a big city. I am not. Anyways they are not bad. I got the fuzzy navel not bad if you mix it with orange juice or propel mango peach flavor. I recently bought the chocolate truffle and crystal sky. Neither are horrible. The chocolate to me is a little sweet. The crystal sky is pretty good but kind of clumps a little...you must shake the fire out of it. Another thing that is not bad and you can get them at walmart is body fortress protein shots. They are fruit punch flavor and only 3 ounces. That's what I like about them. They are a little bit syrupie but 2-3 drinks and they are gone Hope this has helped.
  24. I made this last night....well my version of it cuz that's just what I do...can't follow a recipe to save my life...either add something or omit something but it was DELICIOUS! Thanks for posting. I am low on iron and protein and the white beans help with both. I have never liked white beans but this was very good. thanks again!
