Thought I was gonna die!!!! but I didn't.

Hello' date=' I am new here and I just want to say...

I was banded on July 19th 2010 and days after my procedure I was in so much pain I thought death would be better than this! I had an adverse reaction to the anesthesia and pain meds. The pain meds made me sick to my stomach which caused dry heaves which caused soreness. I swore I could feel my intestines move! I could not take any pain meds so I was suffering with the bloating and the movements and the tenderness.

Each day got better... and better...

I didn't feel hungry and was afraid of hurting if I ate anything in the wrong manner. I stuck to broth and thin protien shakes.

I was at work 5 days later but had to go home due to discomfort. (scheduled for 12 hr shift)

I returned to work on the 6th day for a 1/2 day and felt better. I worked 7 more days straight after that!

I can eat more than I should (still small quantities). I can eat things I shouldn't. (meatballs and nuggets) All within these two weeks. I was thinking... WHAT A WASTE of PAIN! But now after reading all these blogs, I see that sometimes all of that is normal and once I receive my first fill I should be back on track.

I have lost 10 pounds in 13 days. I will chaulk it up to water weight since I havent poo'd in two weeks. (Sorry for that but com'on we all are sharing our most personal LAP-BAND® experiences to help others right?)[/quote']..........

LAP-BAND Patients

Im sorry to hear you had such a rough time. I understand your pain. I was there too. I had a bad reaction to anesthesia and ended up herniating my stomach over my band so I got to go back in 3 days later for another surgery. No fun I will tell you that.

Anyways don't worry about weight right now. My dr. told me the first month is all about healing not weight loss. I didn't have any restriction after my 1st fill though. I could still eat french fries and nuggets. Can't now though. Took 3 fills for me to feel any kind of restriction. Hang in there.
