Are You Telling People?
I have told people that I had the surgery and I have not received one negative comment. My family and friends are the BESTEST! I have even had some friends who were really inquisitive about the surgery and they wanted to hear all of the details. When the weight loss becomes really apparent I wont hesitate to tell people what I did. I think that if I can help just one person make a life altering decision because of something that I have done then its definitely worth it! But, im also not one to hold stuff in either- Im pretty much an open book and something this huge is not something that I could keep quiet about.

Question about pills that are too big...
my mom has been going to a weekly lap-band support group meeting (her surgery is going to be in july) and they all told her that gel caps usually dont have any problems being swallowed whole. I have an appt with my doctor today so Im going to ask her about starting my Cymbalta back up and will let you know what she says. Its a capsule but it has beads inside and not the powder but I cant imagine it would be any different going down.

I have a question about throwing up
oh yes- I have vomited several times since surgery. It was mostly dry heaves but I did actually throw a small amount up too.

Driving restrictions?
My post-op restrictions say no driving for 24 hours after surgery. Did your doctor give longer restrictions for driving post surgery?

Protein Shake
Ive lost a lot of weight post op myself- 13 lbs so far since the day before surgery. But I did a low carb/high protein diet 2 weeks before surgery and even though my clothes fit differently the scale didnt move. Then 1 day of clear liquids before surgery and now Im on clear liquids 4 days post op. I was told I could move to full liquids and he said the protein shakes would be ok but I just dont think I can handle them yet. I might give it a try because I do think I need some protein but wont be surprised if I cant handle it.

Taking Glucophage 1000mg post band surgery
I was put on Metformin for PCOS and decided to get off of it because of the size of the pill. The PCOS should get better with losing weight so I felt ok with that decision.

Day 4 post op and feeling a little down today
wickwit- too funny. I have had coughing episodes but fortunately for me it hasnt caused too much pain. I KNOW Im not getting enough Water in or Protein but right now the thought of Protein shakes makes me want to puke. I could send DH to the store to get some ensure or slimfast but Im going to try and drink some of my carnation instant Breakfast and see if that helps. Im going to also do vegetarian vegetable Soup strained to get some more liquids in.

Day 4 post op and feeling a little down today
Thanks guys! The only other major surgery I've had before was my 2 prior c-sections and I did have horrible depression after both of those but those were extreme circumstances and the reason why I refuse to get pregnant again. So I wasnt expecting to feel like this after an elective surgeyr that I have been so looking forward to. But I called my mom, had a good cry, then got nauseous and did some dry heave/burping and then vomited once, then laid down to take a nap. (And let me tell ya- the dry heave burping combo is a doozy- I have never heard that kind of noise come out of anybody's mouth- it was like an exorcism was before performed! LOL!) Im feeling a little better now- I just wish this low grade fever would go away. Its never gotten above 99.5 so its nothing for me to call my doc about but Im wondering how long that will last?

Scale?
I have a WW scale that I got at Bed Bath and Beyond about 5 years ago when DH and I were on the program. It does weigh about 1 lb higher than at the doctors office but I too weigh myself first thing in the morning totally naked.

Day 4 post op and feeling a little down today
So Im 4 days post-op and am sitting here at my computer and I just feel like crying. Im so ready to be able to eat something a little more solid. Im ready to start feeling better. Its not that Im in a lot of pain- Im just tired of being tired and weak. Im drinking a s/f carnation instant Breakfast that has Protein in it and Im sure I need to try and get more protein in but the thought of a thick Protein shake just makes me want to gag. I guess Im also in mourning a little bit for the food that Im giving up for a while. The other day when I threw up after eating Jello I thought to myself "what in the world have I done? If I cant even hold jello down how in the world am I going to live the rest of my life and never be able to enjoy something that tastes good again?" Of course I know im being irrational- Im still completely swollen from surgery but food was my best friend before and I've lost that for the time being. I KNOW that I made the best decision for myself, my husband, and my kids but right now Im just having a pity party. I will be so glad when Im a month or two out and can look back on today and think it was just a blip on the radar screen. But right now Im struggling. It also doesnt help that I havent taken my anti-depressant since before surgery. I might try to do that but im scared that I will throw it back up. Anyways, thanks for letting me vent. Did anybody else go through this feelings so shortly after surgery?

Itchy incisions?
yep- mine itch too and its driving me crazy. Im itching around the incision but sometimes that is just not good enough. The feeling eventually passes though. Sometimes I will get a pillow to put on my stomach and then put a little pressure over the area and that seems to help.
-
Alright I almost threw up just now help please...
day 2 post op is when I was having issues with vomiting too. The only thing I can think of with your pills is to take a few and then wait 30 minutes and take the rest.

August rush 2010!!!
YAY! Congrats on being banded and Im glad you are feeling so well! I dont have to do the blood thinner injections but I can tell you that from when I had to give myself fertility shots its not too bad. The first one was the worst becuase I was freaked out that I was giving myself an injection but the needle is so small and you can hardly feel it.

BMI 51! & questions to those who know
Its going to depend on what your insurance company requires. Mine required a 6 month supervised diet before we could submit for approval. I was approved towards the end of June and I had my surgery on August 4th because we were goign to be going out of town and it was already planned- I didnt want to be driving for 2 days just fresh out of surgery. I did have to do a 2 week preop diet but I was able to do that while on vacation and I had my surgery 3 days after we got back!

Pressure in my chest?
