  1. Im 1 day post op and the pain hasnt been too bad. Nothing like my 2 c-sections that I have had. I think the most pain im having is from gas. I do feel pressure and Im swollen but Im also staying on top of things with my pain medication too. My pain level has been around a 4 or 5. I dont know that I would be outside playing with my kids less than a week postop though. Things need time to heal and scar tissue to form to keep the band and port in place.
  2. For me, gaining 8 lbs would be a breeze! I would definitely try and gain those 8 lbs- you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
  3. Good luck Melissa and Amanda! You guys will do great!
  4. I also want to renew my vows and wear a totally gorgeous wedding dress when Im skinny!
  5. I dont know if this is normal or not but my doctor did 2 IV anti-biotics yesterday while in the hospital. I also have a history of MRSA infections so I talked to her about this and she sent me home with a script for antibiotics as well.
  6. jello and popsicles seems to help with my hunger.
  7. I found it in someone's siggy here on the boards. Just right click and save it to your computer then I uploaded mine to photobucket and copied the code to but in my siggy!
  8. welcome to the boards and good luck with your journey!
  9. Congrats on your approval!!!!
  10. My insurance is Aetna and was told they could take up to 30 days for approval but I got mine back within 6 days! But I understand how you are feeling- I was so nervous that they wouldnt approve me and knew that if I was denied surgery wasnt happening- at least for a few years. We just simply couldnt afford to do self-pay right now. When I got the call from my doctors office that I was approved I was so freakin excited! But I am also surprised at all of the doctors offices scheduling surgery before insurance approval. My doctors office wouldnt even schedule my last visit with the surgeon until insurance approval and all of my pre-op testing was done. Then I met with the doctor THEN they scheduled surgery. Its so wierd how each doctor does things differently.
  11. Good for you Amanda! While we were on vacation last week I had decided one night that we were going to go out to eat and I would eat what I wanted to. But when I got there I decided it wasnt worth it. From reading these boards and talking to my mom who is attending the weekly support groups at her surgeons office (she is going to be banded in October) I know that just becuase I have the band doesnt mean I wont ever get to eat my favorite foods again. So I just decided that 2 weeks before hand and 4 weeks afterwards of not eating my favorite foods was something I could live with if it gets me to my ultimate goal. Was that even coherent? I shouldnt type and do pain meds at the same time! LOL!
  12. Here is what Im looking forward to: ~Feeling comfortable in my own skin ~Being healthier ~Having energy to get outside and play with my boys. They are 5 and 3 and I feel like I've wasted time already because I havent been able to be the mom I wanted to be for them because I my weight and depression. ~Being able to shop in normal stores ~ SKINNY CLOTHES ~not being embarassed getting on an airplane ~going on rollercoasters when my boys are old enough Im sure there is more but Im feeling a little loopy from the pain meds!
  13. OMG guys- last night I let out the MOTHER of all burps and it felt sooooo good! I was having some pretty bad gas pain in my shoulder and took the gas-x strips and then about 30 minutes later I got some sweet relief! I made the mistake last night of trying to lay on my side and that hurt pretty badly so I took my pain meds about 20 minutes early and then laid on my back until I fell asleep. I dont think I moved all night! This morning woke up feeling pretty good until I started coughing- I have mucous in my throat Im guessing from surgery yesterday because I didnt have it going it. So that made my incisions hurt so I took my pain meds and all is well. Im not hungry at all- just a little thirsty so Im sipping on some diet green tea. The worst part for me is not being able to shower until tomorrow- my hair gets so oily and it drives me nuts! LOL!
  14. So far im drinking water, diet green tea, and apple juice.
  15. My doctor gave me 2 IV antibiotics today one of them vancomyacin which is what I had when I was hospitalized with MRSA. She also sent me home with an RX for Bactrim to hopefully ward off an infection. Like I said, I havent had one in over a year but I would sure hate for one of my incisions to get infected and jeopardize my band.
  16. I did low carb too and day 3 was horrible for me. Nausea, headache, lightheadedness, etc....it got better by day 5 so hang in there!
  17. I MADE IT!!!! IM BANDED! It was a rough day emotionally for me- I started bawling when I dropped my kids off with my brother/SIL and then was a nervous wreck after that. But my nurses were so great and the anesthesiologt was really funny and put me at ease. I did freak out when I woke up from anesthesia becaues I felt like I couldnt breathe and I had this awful pressure in my chest but they gave me meds for it and I fell back asleep. The worst part of it all was the barium I had to drink so they could take x-rays to make sure the band was in place and working properly. That stuff is N-A-S-T-Y! Ok...Im going to go lay down for a bit. I want to write out my thoughts about surgery day and I need to start my blog but I just cant do it right now. Thanks for all of the well wishes and good luck to those people who have surgery this week!
  18. We are leaving in 20 minutes to take my kids to my brother's house and then go to the hospital. Surgery is at 11:30 and I feel like I want to puke. Hopefully they will give me some happy juice in my IV before I go in or I will be bawling before I get to the OR. See you guys on the other side!
  19. Im sorry that you are dealing with MRSA- I had my first MRSA infection on my face about 3 years ago and was hospitalized from it. They pumped me full of anti-biotics and luckily I didnt require surgery. Since that time I had probably about 6 other infections but lucky for me I havent had one in a year. Im concerned going into surgery tomorrow about getting an infection. Im going to keep a very close eye on things and may even talk to my doctor about going ahead and putting me on antibiotics since I do have a history of it. I hope your infection goes away quickly. They are definitely not fun to deal with.
  20. I did the high protein/low carb diet and day 3 was the WORST for me but it was definitely better by day 5. I can tell I've lost weight because my clothes are fitting better too! YAY! You can do this!
  21. You know....this clear liquid diet is for the birds. Especially with co-workers eating french fries and my hubby eating a yummy sub for lunch. My broth is just not cutting it right now. And my 3yr old had a french fry in his hand and he touched my mouth with his greasy hand and oh man the taste! But I've stuck to the liquid diet today and by this time tomorrow I will be banded! I cant wait for it to be over with and finally start getting down to business of getting skinny!
