  1. I came across your blog while I was in the process of researching the lap-band and waiting on my insurance to kick in. It was inspirational then and inspirational now. Im 2 weeks post op and you have given me and many others such a huge motivation! CONGRATS on your weightloss and thank you so much for sharing your story!
  2. My doctors office said to take a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement every day. I am doing Flintstone's for the vitamin but havent started the calcium yet.
  3. I will start regular foods next monday which will be 19 days post surgery.
  4. First appt was Jan 25th and I was banded August 4th. I could have been banded the middle of july but we were going on vacation and didnt want to be recovering from surgery while on vacation. I also had to do a 6 month doctor led diet.
  5. yeah- Ive been on mushies for the past week and have gained 2 or 3 lbs. I knew it would happen but it still sucks.
  6. Im 11 days out and today hunger has really set in. I get to start soft foods tomorrow so hopefully that will help some.
  7. Congrats to you! Enjoy your new bracelet! I think Im going to do something like this too for each of my goals that I want to reach. A new bracelet for 50 then a new charm for each mini goal that I set!
  8. I've heard of people having problems with rice after being banded- I believe it expands and causes it to get stuck.
  9. yeah- Im normally a very hot natured person and have noticed that I have been really cold a lot too. Hopefully this will even out somee- I dont mind being a little cooler but not freezing all the time.
  10. I had 2 previous c-sections and my lap-band was a walk in a park compared to my c-sections.
  11. Congrats! Glad to know that you are doing well!
  12. i was told basically anything that you could theoretically drink through a straw.
  13. I know how you feel. Im so glad that we were on vacation for 9 days prior to my surgery otherwise I would have driven myself crazy! And yes- the tiredness, weakness, and lightheadedness is really annoying. Its getting a little better for me now that Im trying to drink my Protein shakes.
  14. Well, I have just started my journey and but DH told me today that he has already lost 8 lbs. First of all, we havent gone out to eat in a week. Secondly, he says he is trying to eat healthier and not as much. He has a lot of weight to lose and could really benefit from lapband but he wants me to be the guinea pig. Plus, he can drop weight like nothing if he exercises and watches what he eats. I do have kids though so I will have to cook meals for them and either I will plan on having a very small portion of what Ive fixed for them or just alter what Im doing to suit myself. But I still have a few weeks before I actually reach that point. Im still on pureed foods right now.
  15. good luck! Cant wait to hear how things go for you!
  16. How long did you doctor tell you to wait post-op before you could take a bath or go swimming again? I would love nothing better than to go take a long bath right now!
  17. Hubby and I burp and fart in front of each other all the time so nothing that has come out post surgery has been a surprise to him. LOL!
  18. I want to get the magic bullet and use one of my BB&B 20% off coupons. Just have to talk DH into letting me get it since he thinks I should just use the blender that we have. Meh- what does he know?????
  19. I m 6 days post op and still feel bloated and swollen but its getting better every day. Breathing deeply was hard the first couple of days but as your swelling goes down then it will make that easier for you.
  20. hmmm...I dont understand why they are taking so long. My patient coordinator said that surgery approvals and dates are top priority in their office. Have you actually talked with her and asked her point blank what the hold up is? Maybe you need to talk with the office manager if you arent getting anywhere with the bariatric coordinator.
  21. Gas-x, heating pad, pain meds (they actually helped the gas pain for me), and walking, walking, walking.
  22. My doctors office wouldnt set a surgery date without approval from insurance first and then without seeing the doctor first. I got approval from insurance at the end of June and went in to see the doctor on July 19th but that was my choice because of when I wanted to have surgery. We were going out of town at the end of July and knew I didnt want to be driving for 4 total days just postop. Who are you talking with at the doctors office? Maybe you need to call them and ask if you are required to see the surgeon before setting a surgery date and if so then schedule the appt.
  23. I was on a high protein/low carb diet prior to surgery. We were also on vacation during this time too so I didn't have access to the scale and it was killing me not to know. I could tell that I had lost weight because of the way my clothes were fitting me though. Well, when I got home the scale had not moved at all and I thought it was very strange. The day after we got home I was on clear liquids (Tues) and then Wed had surgery. Im 6 days out from surgery and I've lost 14 lbs since I last weight myself. So don't worry- IT WILL HAPPEN!
