100+ club
I agree with you Elisabeth and I have pretty much set the same mini goals - 10 lbs a week and I'll be thrilled. As of this morning, I am down 13.6 and surgery was a week from yesterday. I know once I start on real food, that the weight loss will probably slow down a bit; however I intend to take full advantage of it for as long as I can. I'm starting my walking regime today and will be glad when I can start on weight resistance and other exercises.:001_smile: Keep up the good work both of you.

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
I can't believe what a moron I am...I was laying in bed last night and then the light bulb went off ... not 10 different times in an hour ... just get the balls up 10 times each hour ... and I took that to mean basically once an hour for 10 reps, so to speak. Man I hope the effects of this anesthesia get out of my system soon. I hate how it's affected my memory and I feel in a fog.

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Luckily I have no immediate family nearby except my sons - one who won't talk to me because I won't support his alcohol addiction and the other lives in Henderson and doesn't see any good reason to get a driver's license ... so I don't have to worry about snoopers. The reaction of your family is exactly the reason I didn't tell anyone I was doing this and since my return, the only thing I've told anyone is I had hiatal hernia repair surgery (which isn't a lie as Dr. A did find a sliding hiatal hernia and he repaired it) In hindsight, I now wish I had not told anyone ANYTHING however, hindsight is 20/20. I figure when I continue to lose weight there may be questions and the best I can come up with is that since I was on the liquid diet following the "repair" surgery, and my stomach had shrunk (not a lie ) and I was finally losing weight, I decided to take this time to get on a healthy diet and exercise regime and lose as much weight as I can. In reality, it really is NO ONE's business but your's and your husband's. I think your family has been watching too many movies or something about Mexico ... print out things from this forum and let them read them ... surely they wouldn't believe that we are all "fake" and will start to see that you will be in the BEST HANDS and that you will come home afterwards. Hang in there and hang onto those "balls" -- family is family; however there is no reason you can't stand up for yourself all the time!

Chat Room - Is this normal
Whenever I enter the chat room, all I have is a white box ... if I hit chat again, then I get the "loading" message and then the chat menu opens up ... is this the way it's s'pose to work or am I doing something wrong?

Size Seven?
No, I haven't heard from her or DebKing either - they were going together -- of course, so were there husbands, so who knows, maybe they are so busy partying that they've forgotten about us!

Clear Liquids Only Stage?
So I could eat 60 of them a day and get in my fluids huh?

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
I have that same thing -- like right now I feel as though I'm starving and so am fixing some beef broth ... that will be great if that feeling goes away on full liquids.

Effects of anesthesia
Oh that would be SO WONDERFUL ... I'm drained. I've never had trouble sleeping before and although I don't need 8 hours, I do need at least 5 without interruption.

10 times an HOUR -- crap, I'd have been dead - everytime I used it I thought my head was going to explode. I thought it was 1 time an hour ... BOY I SURE SCREWED UP. Congratulations -- you are going to be very happy with your entire experience and the results!

411 on some things allowed post op?
The 40 mg. was running at $40.00 USD for a box of 14 - which broken in half would give you almost a 1 months supply.

A question from my fiance
I think he meant that the one incision where the drain bag was, once the drain is removed, and covered with gauze will drain. It is so minimal that it's barely noticeable ... I'm not sure where he read that or what he thought when he did. It's no BIG DEAL at all.

time after meals when you can drink
According to my paperwork that I got from Dr. A., "Never drink liquids when eating solid foods. Liquids should be avoided for a period of 45 minutes before and 45 minutes after eating solid foods or meals."

Short Term Goals
Oh they didn't have those when I bought mine. So far my favorite is the Marshmallow Mudslide Pie (or something like that) ... so good to the point they could be addictive!

Rate your liquids
I haven't found anything I like yet at all. The powder stuff is okay - tolerable - almost too sweet though - can't do much of it at a time. I'm going to order some of the Syntrax Nectar... however, I may wait and see which ones you like before I do. At this point, I figure whatever Protein I get in is better than nothing.

Wow really? I didn't see that listed on my post-op report.

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
No, not having any hunger pains ... Tuesday, when I was still having a difficult time finding something I could stand the taste of, I remember saying to my Fiance that evening... WOW, I think I'm actually hungry. I've had a few "I think I'm actually hungry" moments since, however I wouldn't say it's a tremendous amout by any stretch of the imagination, and after a few sips of Water, broth or a popsicle, the feeling is gone. OregonDaisy says she NEVER feels hungry and could probably go all day without eating and that when she does eat because she thinks she "should" she's stuffed on 5 bites. Dr. A wants you to eat 3 meals every day - no snacking - whether you're hungry or not. 70 gms. Protein, 600-800 calories and 64 oz. of water ... I still am not able to get all of that in ... I think at this point in order to do so I'd have to have a straw in my mouth all day long and sip sip sip. I'm not dehydrated however, so every day I just try to get in more than the day before.

Well, if you think of any other questions, ask away, on or more of Dr. A's patients will surely have an answer.

WHY am I leaving the US for surgery? And why the choice I made?
The surgeon I originally thought I was going to use before doing more research and talking to WASa was charging $25,000 for the sleeve and that was HIS fee only. It is ridiculous the span of prices from state to state.

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
As strange as it seems, too, if you're having a sweet craving and you eat some cheese, it generally satisfies the sweet craving. I crave sweets at times and at different times, I crave salty. I don't keep candy or chips in the house for that reason.

Short Term Goals
I don't see how you CAN'T lose Steve if you're following the same diet as your wife - it probably won't be as fast as she loses, however, I bet you lose. I'm 1 week out today and have lost 12 lbs. My goal right now, being so newly-sleeved, is to keep the scale on the downward slide as long as I can.
