  1. 6.6 !!! Sure shocked the heck out of me I don't mind telling you. I have no idea why, but figure why look a gifthorse in the mouth - right??
  2. This is isn't in my chest at all. From what I understand, it's excess mucus in the upper stomach (am sure WASa or Elisabeth could explain it better) and, well, I guess it has to go somewhere -- just can't figure out why it is only when I lay down or semi-prone. I guess I should be happy that it's not all the time. I've been bothered by allergies since 3 years after moving to Vegas and have been through all kinds of tests and medications - none of which help -- finally I just started taking Tylenol Severe Sinus & Allergy when they are really bad and that seems to work better than anything. However, I refuse to liquify another medication or even crush or cut into tiny pieces. I feel as though it takes me 1/2 a day to get my medication down and I'm only taking 3 things - Nexium, BC and my BP medication. If, for now, the bendaryl liquid works, then I'll stick with it until I am able to take medication again WHOLE...or at least 1/2. Yesterday, when I took my BP medication - and I had broken it into 4 parts, one part go stuck (basically at the spot right between the 'girls') and it was there all day until about 4 pm ... and then I finally had no pain there any longer. Maybe I just have more swelling because of the hernia repair and so I am having more problems with that specific issue than others? I don't know ... or maybe I am just down right weird :001_tongue:
  3. Did it make you gag or feel like you were choking or that you might vomit?
  4. OMG - I stepped on the scale this morning and since surgery I've been losing about 1 lb. a day ... this morning I was down 6.6. I reweighed myself 3 times and everytime it was the same. Wow, a good night sleep, no coughing fits and DOWN 6.6 lbs. you can bet I was doing the HAPPY DANCE!!! That's a total of 20.2 lbs. since surgery on 6/12. Water weight or actual weight -- I don't care -- its 20.2 lbs in 9 days ... unfriggin believable!:lol0::lol0: :001_tongue:
  5. Oh - well duh:huh0: So I went back to check that out -- however, you must have figured out the issue with IE8 as I opened the CHAT room 5 times and all 5 times it loaded up .. so maybe this is now a moot point.
  6. Is that the unjury unflavored Protein powder? And is it TRULY unflavored??
  7. You will do it Elisabeth - I have no doubt - you've already done GREAT and you're in the right frame-of-mind with a fantastic goal to shoot for.
  8. Well, now, we never said THAT ... Just teasing you -- if you're going crazy with your thoughts, so did the rest of us. :lol0::lol0::lol0:
  9. I had a "virgin" stomach so to speak and my entire surgery took 1 hour 7 minutes according to Dr. Aceves, and that included repairing a sliding hiatal hernia!
  10. CONGRATS to you ... I didn't dream at all. I was out for the count and loved every minute of it.
  11. I posted a new thread about my new best "aid" and that was liquid benadryl - I slept 8 hours and only one coughing fit. And yes, I actually cough up mucus. It doesn't make it hard to swallow, just that the coughing makes my throat very sore. I guess this is more a common problem with the band, than the sleeve; however, I've often had a sinus drainage problem at night and keep cough drops on the nightstand in the event I start coughing, pop one in my mouth and go back to sleep. No, I never choke on them. However, I was a bit afraid to do that since the surgery just in case I did swallow it in my sleep. So instead, I would just cough and cough and cough until I cleared out the mucus and then I'd go back to sleep until it started again. Made a very long night with very little sleep let me tell you. So I think the purpose of the benadryl was to help dry up things with the secondary benefit being to knock me out! I used to live in an apt. complex where my neighbor was addicted to NyQuil - she took it every night to sleep. And that was BEFORE the cherry flavor -- eewwwwwwwww
  12. I was actually going to go back to work on Thursday and would have felt up to doing so if not for the diarhhea. So I took my office manager up on her offer of another day off and went back on Friday. I worked all day and then had enough energy to stop at Borders and then Wal-Mart (I HATE shopping at Wal-Mart; however, I needed ink cartridges and they're the cheapest in town I've found) so I walked around Wal-mart and came home. I was somewhat tired, but not terribly so and no in any pain at all. Ruthi went back to work on Tuesday - the day after we were released from the hospital. I don't think I could have done that; but definitely by Friday ... I don't think an entire week is necesssary, but then everyone's body is different.
  13. FINALLY -- I SLEPT LAST NIGHT!!!! I've been having an issue with excessive mucus and been in contact with Dr. Aceves and apparently this is a very uncommon problem with sleevers (Leave it to me!). Within 5 minutes of lying down -- not flat on my back mind you but with 2 pillows or even in a semi-upright position, I would get this tickle in my throat and start coughing and cough up phlem (sorry to be so graphic). So, on top of already not sleeping, partly because of this cough, my throat stayed constantly raw. Dr. Aceves told me to take my nexium, which I have been doing, and not to eat or DRINK 3 hours before bedtime. I don't eat 3 hours before bedtime, so not a problem; however, not drinking for 3 hours is awful as I am sooooo thirsty all the time. He also told me to take liquid benadryl. Well, I did that last night and for the first time since I've been home, I only had 1 small coughing fit and I slept all night from midnight until 8 am this morning. OMG did it feel so good. And, my throat is barely sore at all this morning. I will be taking benadryl again tonight and I hope and pray it has the same results - no coughing fits and hours of restful sleep. Just had to share!!!!
  14. Hi All - I PM'd SizeSeven before I went to bed last night - she replied this morning. Both Size Seven and DebKing are home safe and sound and she said she would be posting her story soon.
  15. That doesn't show up on my screen...all I have is the white box - nothing more.
  16. :001_tongue::lol0::lol0:
  17. I'm not a big egg person at all; however, I can tolerate a scrambled egg with 2% shredded cheese on it - it's very tasty. What I did for the pre-op diet and am doing now and will continue to do is prepare my Breakfast and take it to work and heat it up there, eat at my desk. I will also pack my lunch and eat in the lunchroom like others and then I will have dinner when I get home. I am going to try (stressing try) to make up a weekly menu so I don't have to try and figure out what am I going to eat today. I totally understand what you're saying about the Protein drink aftertaste; I've yet to find one I like on it's own. I do like the EAS French vanilla when used in a smoothie with fruit.
  18. Shanda, I was in the same boat as you - never been under anesthesia, never had surgery (well, had carpal tunnel surgery, but was awake for that) including dental procedures. On the other hand, I am like WASa - I'm a very black/white person ... drives my fiance crazy ... and once I made the decision, it was made and after that I placed my life in the hands of Dr. Aceves and Jesus. There is a very cool picture right before you go into Dr. Aceves wing of a surgeon and Jesus and Jesus has one hand on the surgeon's shoulder and one on the surgeon's hand ... I think that says it all. At least it did for me.
  19. Well my biological sister is 5'3 and wears maybe a size 10 ... of course when we were in HS she wore a size 1. So she definitely wouldn't get it. Ruthi and Eyfura know what I went through -shared it with me and we do "talk" daily. Everyone else on this site gets it too ... or will get it once they have their surgery. It's a GREAT extended family!
  20. Oh, I know it's a lot easier said than done -- I've had to work at doing it over the years. And I was not trying to say your feelings weren't valid -- they most certainly are.
  21. This is how I tend to look at things. Why waste your energy even giving them the time of day ... they don't even know you're upset with them and here you are wasting good energy on people who don't deserve it. That's why I always LET IT GO ...
  22. Congratulations! Welcome to our club. Never hesitate to ask a question, someone will always respond.
  23. Well Susan is your sleeve sister ... Eyfura had her's on 6/10 and Ruthi and I were on 6/12. So all-in-all it's "about" the same time - you were in the hospital togther.
  24. Great, thank you Elisabeth. I asked Bob this morning if he thought I'd ever get all the adhesive off my skin and not look like I had some red blotchy disease. Not too many more days then.
