No, I haven't heard from her or DebKing either - they were going together -- of course, so were there husbands, so who knows, maybe they are so busy partying that they've forgotten about us! :thumbup:

Hi All - I PM'd SizeSeven before I went to bed last night - she replied this morning. Both Size Seven and DebKing are home safe and sound and she said she would be posting her story soon.

I'm Debbie (Debking811)..Pam(Size Seven) and I had surgery June 17th and we're doing ok...not as good as we thought!! We're both starving...the surgery went well..loved the hospital, Dr Aceves and Dr Campos but these clear liquid days are H-E-L-L!! I'm sure Size Seven will be on soon..we're just trying to make it till Friday...I get to the point I feel so weak I have to lay down. I'm def not a ninny baby cause I've had a tummy tuck and this surgery was a cakewalk comparatively. I'm taking my B12, Centrum vitamins and as much Isopure I can stomach!! I felt much better today once I had jello...has anyone else had these same feelings their first week?

I got weak and shakey because I could not stomach any of the proteins. I finally contacted the doctor's office and she said I could have the protein shakes after one week. I only did the shakes and did not go on to full liquid until the end of the ten days. If you can hack it, I'm sure it would be better for you. If you can't, contact the doctor's office and see what they say.

Didn't mean to make you worry...I just needed a few days to figure out what to do AFTER surgery! So many of you had gung-ho post surgery comments...I have been wrestling with who I am now.

I have not been one for deprivation and certainly food has been available and plentiful all my life. This liquid phase has been hard for me and Debbie. I know it's only a few days, but it feels like a lifetime. I'm Type II Diabetic and "no sugar" has me feeling really weird. We call each other a couple of times a day because we feel HUNGRY. I know it's not "real" hunger, but gosh darn, it sure feels like hunger!

Someone asked me to watch her fresh hot pretzel at the airport when we were departing. I wanted to tell her, "Lady, you don't know it, but I'm homicidal right now, and I'll take you out for that pretzel!!!!" Only kidding-but not really.

My surgery went well and my experience with Mexicali, Almater Hosptital, Dr. Aceves and team were wonderful. I can't believe the care and attention to patient needs they have. I have never experienced so many kind and compassionate people in one hospital. I'm glad Debbie and I did this together. We have great pictures of us walking the halls with our IV poles and back sides flapping in the breeze!

Our last meal at the Lucerna Hotel was one for the books. I had SEVEN pieces of garlic bread, a Soup bowl of French onion soup with a giant puff pastry on top, beef medallions of tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes and did I mention TWO supersized Sangrias? No wonder I didn't care that I was having surgery the next day!!!

Surgery day, they gave me two "happy pills" and all I remember was being wheeled out of my room and telling the nurse she had a nice plant on her desk and the next thing I knew I was back in the room...surgery over! Now THAT'S they way to have surgery!:frown1:

Day Two was rougher for me because I found out I had a hernia repaired, and some scar tissue remove from an old gall bladder surgery as well as the sleeve so I took it easy all day. Debbie was standing in the doorway with her IV pole asking me if I wanted to go shopping with her!!! Now where do two old broads go shopping while attached to IV poles??? She definitely has more stamina than I do!

My sense of humor is returning so that's a good sign. I am learning that I'm a new person now...one who has to adopt some better habits. The old me is resisting (big time!) so with time I'm sure I'll be on the gung ho list like most of you!

Finally we hear from you. I know how you feel, the clear liquids are hell for us. I fought head hunger from day 2. I went to thin liquids, ie adkins shakes on day 6 and that helped tremendously. I really needed the protein to make me feel more like myself. I think it got worse by the day but today is my first day of full liquids and the world is a better place. The first 5 days are the worst and it very slowly gets better. You both just hang in there.

Buy some Propel Water - it is suppose to help with the sugar issue. And the liquid phase SUCKS big time -- the only way I made it through it is because I know it is necessary or Dr. A wouldn't want us to do it. Day 6 you can have SF Jello and that helped me out.

You're too funny. My fiance brought an ice cream into my room and I told him "OKAY - that is ONE of the things you are not allowed to have in the houses." I am one of those I don't care if I was stuffed to the gills, I would make room for ice cream -- even knowing I would pay for it later, as I am lactose intolerant. Another day he had french fries - and I said "Man those smell good" and he said "I'm sorry" and I said "No, that's okay, I'll be able to have them again one day - maybe only 1 or 2 but I'll get them."

You're ahead of me, I don't even remember being wheeled out of my room although my fiance said I said "See you later honey"... and all I recall in recovery is someone asking me if I could move my legs and me kicking them all around and saying "Yep, sure can - WHY?" I remember the trip from recovery to my room only because whoever was pushing the bed didn't know how to drive very well and we hit a few walls!

Day 2 hell -- Ruthie was at my doorway less than 5 minutes after they wheeled her in from recovery and she had her surgery 2nd. I too had to have a hiatal hernia (sliding) repaired.
