  1. It's so fab to see that. I could NOT believe it when I did. Well done on your loss, it's really hard and you're really amazing.
  2. My reflux mostly settled when I lost weight after my sleeve. I had the benefit of having been this weight some years back and knowing it happened then too though. I think it's tricky to try to predict what will happen either way. Worked out for me. Good luck!
  3. I think you mean dumping is much less likely with the sleeve? Or that you personally haven't had it. Still occurs for some unfortunate folk.
  4. Not at all true for me - 33lbs in the first 12 weeks but 104 in total (I'm exactly 14 months out). Everyone is so different - totally to be expected.
  5. Yay Pete! We're doing this!!!!
  6. Hi Sam, that's a really hard question to answer without more information about how far along you are and what surgery you've had! Could you fill out your stats or give us something more to go on please? My understanding is that how our skin adapts to weight loss is a lot to do with genetics/age and much less to do with how we manage that! Do you have specific concerns?
  7. Just checking in again. Today I reached my 'ideal weight' of 147. Never ever in a million years did I think that I would do this. Almost 14 months post op. Still losing very very slowly. I really want to hear from my November 2021 buddies. I hope you're all as happy as I am with your surgery. Onwards and downwards!
  8. Absolutely what NovaLuna said. But, since I am a chronic comparer, if it helps, I lost 17lbs in the first SIX WEEKS post op (I do calendar month losses so I bunched the fist 6 weeks together). Probably about 12 or 13lbs in the first 4 weeks? I had a stall in my second week (first of many!) that lasted about 10 days. Hope that helps and good luck on your journey.
  9. This is really interesting and super helpful - thank you for sharing your story! For someone 14 months out from sleeve, and at goal, it gives me hope that if things go wrong in the future there's something that can be done. Do you know how much stomach there was to take away this time?
  10. Wow. Just wow. That's amazing. I hope you are loving this!
  11. Oh wow - look at you! huge congrats for getting to where you are now, and best of luck for reaching the end of your journey!
  12. This. Your weight loss is likely to be most in the first month after surgery and then slow down and slow down and slow down more as you progress. Added to that everyone's journey is different. I am exactly the same as you - I wanted certainties going into this surgery, and things I could influence or control. Several months in I just realised that the surgery does its job if I do my job, and it was all SO much relaxed thereafter. Best of luck on your journey xxx
  13. I am 14 months post gastric sleeve, now in maintenance, and I have weighed myself every single day. Small fluctuations don't bother me, nor do stalls - I just like to know what's going on! If it will bother you not to see consistent losses then I recommend leaving it as long as you can between weigh-ins. But you do you!
  14. By 'chug' I understand many big gulps in a row? My capacity to do this has gradually increased in the 14 months since my sleeve. At first I could take one or *maybe* on a good day 2 big gulps of liquid followed by a gap (which I think *might* equate to your 500mls in 30 minutes), then two, then three. I'm now up to probably 5 big gulps in a row. It's really satisfying. ? I'm thinking this means that my pouch is expanding, as they seem to do as time goes on.
  15. Glad you got a guide from your doctor. As @Arabesque says, it might be close to that or further away depending on a whole lot of factors - what matters is that you're happy with your loss and that you can maintain your final weight. Nobody wants to be 'on a diet' forever after WLS. Best of luck!
  16. What an amazing update - thank you for sharing, you've done brilliantly and you deserve to feel as good as you do. ?
  17. Cold deli meats in slices or chunks I can grab from the fridge. Chicken, turkey, ham, corned beef etc. are my go-to snacks. I like cheeses too, there are usually several varieties in my fridge. And greek yoghurt - you can add an infinite variety of nuts, seeds and fruit to that for breakfast or supper.
  18. Really great to hear from someone this far out. You've done amazingly well on your weight loss journey (never mind the travel!!!) so thank you for sharing. Inspiration for those of us coming behind you.
  19. I agree - lots of sauce with everything at this stage. And if in doubt - eat cheese!
  20. Thanks for posting that video - most interesting!
  21. I would strongly advise sticking to the programme you've been given. I think the time for your last 'food funeral' would have been before you started the 2 week pre-op diet, not right at the end of it. I have heard tales of people whose surgery has been cancelled just because they didn't adhere to their programme. I'm so sorry you're feeling the need to eat forbidden fruit at this late stage - I TOTALLY understand it, having had disordered eating for most of my adult life, but I hope you can get past it. The final outcome after surgery is really honestly totally worth much more than a few dishes you want right now this minute. Best of luck on your journey. ?
  22. Have you checked with your team? My dietician allowed me a glass of wine with my Christmas dinner last year and that was 6 weeks after my sleeve. Since then I have had a couple of drinks most weekends or on holidays, but it was all sanctioned first. Happy new year and whatever you do do it safely!
  23. Hi Hannah, welcome to the group! I was sleeved 13 months ago and I don't know what I would have done without the folks here, it's an amazing community. From the stats you hit a low of 140 and are now 148 at 8+ years out? That's absolutely amazing. I'm sure you know, lots of people (most?) regain 5-20lbs in year 2 or 3 so maybe 148 is your new set weight - is that possible? How does it feel 8 years on? Do you still get help from your sleeve to maintain?
  24. I hope it's gone well for you OP. Good advice from everyone here as always. I definitely recommend bringing a book/kindle - I finished a whole book over my 36 hour admission, would have been super bored without it.
