Soft protein

Recommended Posts

My surgeon's office has told me I can have seafood, chicken, turkey, lunch meat and dairy right now. I have to take small bites and chew every bite at least 20 times. I don't have to puree my food, though I am sure that would be easier to eat and digest. I am one week and three days post-op. I am learning that if I eat too much, then I feel nauseous. I am glad I found this app so I can be part of a community and learn from each of you.

Hello and welcome. Did they tell you to have sauce or gravy with your foods ? Dry meats and fish may be difficult for some at the beginning.

I agree - lots of sauce with everything at this stage. And if in doubt - eat cheese!

I made tuna salad with yogurt instead of mayo - added Protein to it. Also did this with hard boiled eggs for egg salad. A bit of brown mustard in with the egg salad. The tuna I just used the yogurt and tuna and smashed the heck out of it. Tiny bites and tiny amounts. You could do that with chopped/diced chicken too.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
