  1. It was a suggestion to carry healthy snacks....and unless she lives in the Sahara there is a grocery store on every corner and since everyone was STARVING they could run in and have some fun finding healthy snack options ..hopefully before they all passed out from serious starvation. Spousal support is huge and it's huge to find alternatives to break bad patterns and habits. And yes, I would be upset with my spouse if he did that, however, he's 100% supportive because WE get the journey and how hard this is and the lifestyle changes and decisions we need to make TOGETHER. And...personally.....you don't need to attack me and my post....if you don't like someone's opinion then kindly Piss Off.
  2. First, good for you. But seriously....you aren't even 1 week post surgery and your husband "had" to take the kids and himself for fast food with you? Perhaps you could learn to say "no" next time he asks and start to show your family that their support is critical in this journey. Go home and fix a healthy snack or carry healthy snack options with you for the family. Sorry but I just found the post more shocking with you being 6 days out of surgery.
  3. OMG I LOOOVE this idea!
  4. I used to be a chronic migraine headache sufferer. I'm off caffeine, sugar, etc and I literally have not even had one once. It's been amazing.
  5. My nutritionist made me add a 1more protein to my day since I'm very active. I am extremely "boring" with my food. I keep it boring and simple and have worked so hard to look at food as a fuel not as having to be exciting. So..... I start my day with eggs whites (14g), My snacks are 2 times a day ,small yogurts with 1/2 scoop protein powder in it (10g) . Lunch is yellow fin tuna or tuna in general (16g), Dinner Sauteed Shrimp(21g), and because I don't put garbage on my food (very plain) I have 1/2 a pure protein during the day (15g). That gives me about 76 easily. I have steamed broccoli typically with lunch and dinner. I'm up super early so my fueling starts around 6am and I'm done my last snack at 730pm ish.
  6. I am 2.1 months post op and I'm working out over 1-2 hrs a day 5 days a week, hitting 10K steps and energy is up. I would be curious to know how active you were prior to the surgery?. I was almost 300lbs and ran marathons and cycled etc so my body was "used" to the regime. If you weren't super active prior to the surgery, that could just be your body just needing a little rest and adjustment. The big change of the surgery then changing working out is a HUGE adjustment. Congratulations btw. I stick with minimum 70G -80G of protein a day (never under 70g) and my 700 calories a day are "VERY" clean calories like fishes, egg whites etc with no garbage on them and veggies (so small carbs). So I'm getting plenty of food/fuel. If you are 40g of protein at times that is way too low (maybe try to be consistent). Again, I think it depends on how active you were prior to surgery. Congratulations though, I think it's awesome that you "want" to work out and exercise and are looking for solutions! You obviously have a great mindset!
  7. You shouldn't waste time posting here you should call your medical team. Soup is a liquid and if you can't even consume liquids that's odd. And if you are getting dizzy call your medical team.
  8. Do you have a before and after picture? I love seeing them, they are really inspiring!!!
  9. Everyone seems different.....I was back at work after 1 week, pretty low energy week 2 and then week 3 it was like a superpower....my energy is through the roof and I'm more energetic and active than I ever thought possible.
  10. Great work! Keep focussed and motivated!
  11. Hey! We have the same surgery date. I just experienced last week a "stall" where I lost 1 lb. I was mortified. The stall ended though on day 7. I'm consuming about the same amount as calories as you and I too work out 1hr at least a day. I also add in 10000 steps a day so I'm moving during the day alot. The only difference I see is that I consume over 70G of protein a day up to 80g. I eat fish alot, it's high in protein and low in fat. For Breakfast I stick with Egg whites which is high protein too. I will also add a scoop of plain protein to my yogurt snacks to bump it up. When I don't have at least 70g of protein I am STARVING. My nutritionist told me it's because I'm working out hard and more active than most. So if you like fish, it's a great protein option. I am down 46lbs since surgery ....and I started heavier than you so honestly I think you are right on par with where you should be weight wise. Try the protein increase and see if the hunger goes away (it should).
  12. The only person who knows is my husband. I have set some big fitness goals (ironman etc) and been vocal about them. I'm exercising a lot, basically I've done a full 180 to my lifestyle (cycling daily, swim lessons) and I think when you do that, people just don't ask questions because they just assume it is parallel to the lifestyle change. As to why I haven't told anyone other than my husband.....it's private. I don't know the medical details of anyone in my circle so why share mine? I have a food psychologist I work with and I am part of a bariatric support group that respects privacy so the support I get is very healthy and good.
  13. Here is a suggestion...instead of going to the state fair where every single terrible food you used to indulge in and likely will always still have an addiction or habit of wanting........ take up exercising, or go for a walk somewhere else. I don't know why you would want to put yourself through that less than 1 month after surgery? this is a life change and why choose sadness? Make better choices and take advantage of a new lifestyle by doing new things!
  14. My doctors cleared me end of week 2 to do 30 minutes of cycling (on flat roads) by week 4 I was cleared for Golf, running, and anything else I felt like doing. They only asked that i add in 1 extra protein serving and monitor the color of my urine to make sure I was staying hydrated on the days I worked out. I don't push it, I listen very carefully to my body.
  15. Awesome!!!!! Then you absolutely got this!!!
  16. I went back and read some of your previous posts.....you said "I ate 5 pieces of dark chocolate, some ice cream, and a chocolate chip cookie all in one day" and another post you mentioned eating a "brownie" and trailmix. It really sounds like working with someone in the therapy field to help you work through triggers and habits and understanding why you make those choices would really help you. It's a very hard journey (I am only week 5) and the biggest lessons I've had so far have been from understanding how I became this size in the first place, it's like going through withdraw. You can do this!
  17. I'm just past the 5 weeks mark too. I was cleared for soft foods and purees so I switched to egg whites (14 grams protein) and then steamed fish in V8 like Haddock (19 grams right there). I put protein powder in my yogurt for snacks (keeps the fat low and protein boost high). Throughout the day I'll sip on half of a premiere protein. I'm just hitting it.
  18. I work with a psychologist. He has told me since day 1 that the surgery is a tool ONLY and all the habits, triggers, and addictions will still all be present...they don't go away and unless you are self aware of the "why" it triggers it can be very hard. It's about working with a professional to figure it out. Talk to your doctors and get a great referral for a bariatric psychologist.
  19. I took 1 week off and was totally fine going back. The first 3 days after surgery were super tough. I was fine day 5. I wasn't left with a lot of energy however I really think that's what's helped with having a good weight loss 3 weeks in.
  20. Put protein powder in your snacks and food. It will bump it.
  21. Are you working with a psychologist at all? I'm working with one and I have to say it's the best decision I've made. What got us into this place is way more complex than getting sleeved. Just a suggestion.
  22. 1/4 of the pizza....16 Grams of fat. 240 calories. and 30% sodium........ some of them go all the way up to 21 grams of fat. I think using the recipes posted is the way to go, a lot healthier.
  23. For me it was day 7 that I was hitting 10,000 steps a day. Day 4 I was about 3000 steps. Until today 17 days out I didn't have the strength to walk up steep hills. Just got cleared to do 30 minutes a day of outdoor cycling on flat roads starting tomorrow along with 10,000 steps a day.
  24. I had them post surgery at the hospital. As gross as it sounds they were amazingly effective.
