  1. I think everyone should have the option to have insurance that helps with WLS
  2. A lot of lapband surgeons and nurses etc recommend this site to learn more etc...I know it's the person's decision...but things people say on here do effect a lot of people.
  3. Hmm if it's that noticable they might be frightened to say something thinking you would be offended as in sexually etc. Other than that I don't know. Men are hard to understand...women are too...I don't understand myself half the time. LOL
  4. I say if you have any discomforts to ask your doctor.
  5. I think people are afraid to say something because they might be wrong. Some people might think that you lost weight but you actually gained and that would make someone feel terrible so they just say well I should keep to myself.
  6. I think this thread is great. There has been so many threads lately with negativity and saying they think they've been duped, or it's a hoax. This right here proves the band is a wonderful thing if you work hard and eat right.
  7. I'm not saying people don't have bad experiences etc. These posts won't make me not have surgery. I am just saying some people will join this site to see the positive things about surgery...and then seeing these negative things like this might be discouraged to have surgery.
  8. They don't know the reason for her death yet. Her husband isn't blaming the band. But yes it is sad that she is gone. May she RIP
  9.:confused_smile: You don't need to be so negative about the band. It takes time and patience.
  10. Thank you so much for sharing this. I am sorry for your loss. God bless.
  11. Welcome to LBT. I wish you great success!!!
  12. Congratulations on starting your journey and welcome to LBT!
  13. The lapband is not a con, you gotta work. I suggest you get counseling or goto groups etc.
  14. When I read this thread it makes me feel like forevertry only joined this forum to down talk the band. Lots and lots of people have had great success with the band. It takes disipline and eating certain foods and not eating certain foods. You have to work at it. Me being someone not banded yet I don't really like hearing people calling the band a hoax. I have learned everything there is to the band and I know it's not a miracle tool...maybe some of you on here don't realize that or had a doctor who didn't explain stuff he should have. You're going to be hungry at times but if you keep your diet balanced and eat Protein, drink lots of Water it wil help plus it's head hungry too. The thing with the band is it makes it to where you can eat smaller portions and feel less hungry than before when you ate a ton and still felt hungry. I know the band is going to work wonderfully for me when I finally do have surgery. I have willpower and I am controlling myself now to try to eat less and more healthy foods and stuff that fills me up better. But I don't think anyone should ever come on here to a forum where people are coming to get advice and trying to change their lives and say that the band is a hoax or even think it's a hoax. I say if it's not working right for you, you need to goto counseling and learn more about why you eat etc. The band is a tool and will never be a miracle.
  15. I had tried everything in the books too for losing weight. Never kept track of it though. My insurance decided to put me on a 6 month supervised diet. So far I am done with 1 month and it's actually going by quickly. I'm eating between 1200-1500 calories a day and exercising, drinking lots of water and I've already lost 8.5 pounds. I think the diet is going to be a huge plus because during this time I can lose some weight, possibly shrink my liver some, and then the 2 week pre-op diet too won't seem so bad. Losing this weight during the process is making me feel a lot more motivated and I know everything is going to be wonderful. Don't fret about the wait, if you do have to wait it will go by quickly. I should be having surgery in November! GOOD LUCK.
  16. Congratulations I hope everything goes well and welcome to LBT!
