Getting banded in Richmond

Hi Everyone! I am new to the lap band forum and am looking for a place for more information, support, etc. I am a 30 year old teacher who is being banded on June 25th. I started the process 2 years ago by researching both gastric bypass and lapband. I made the decision to be banded after turning 30 and realizing that this problem wasn't going to fix itself. I went for my initial consult two months ago at VCU. Dr. Maher wanted me to lose 20 pounds (which i did within a month) before he would schedule the surgery. I received immediate insurance approval for the surgery and now have a pre-op date of June 17th with an operation date of June 25th. I am excited, nervous, and ready to begin a new part of my life. If you have any advice, wisdom, etc. please share!!

Hi Jennifer, I'm also a teacher and getting banded on June 25th in Newport News, VA. My nutrition class and pre op are both scheduled for the 17th. Our last day of school is the 13th, which is why I had to wait. I can't take time during sol's for the preop stuff. I don't have any advice, but I'm feeling nervous and excited like you are. I just wanted to let you know someone else is in the same boat. :leaving: Good luck

I just made a ticker but can't figure out how to post it! LOL:biggrin:
