    New Support Group

Starting tonight (April 23, 2008) there is a new WLS support group that will be meeting in Sumter at Tuomey Regional Medical Center on the 4th Wednesday of the month in classroom 1 from 6 - 7 PM. Hope some of you can make it!
  7. I am doing so horribly with my food intake pre-surgery. I try everyday to make good choices, but then by the end of the day, I find myself starving (headaches, shaky, etc.). I usually have a protein shake of some sort for breakfast, fruit for mid-AM snack, something high protein (tuna, chicken, etc), yogurt, and usually a piece of fruit for lunch, protein bar for mid afternoon snack. Sounds like a lot of food, but lately hasn't been enough. I am so ready to be done fighting food. It has ruled my life for so long now. It only seems like the fight is getting worse the farther into the approval process I get. Like a demon fighting to keep control of my body. I will take it back, with the help of the Lap Band. I will make my body, and therefore my life, mine again!!!
  8. I am really getting tired of saying that..."pre-band" I don't think I will EVER have insurance approval!! But it HAS only been about 10 days, so I really have no right to complain. Some people wait a lot longer than that! My pre-op diet is going MUCH better! I have lost 10 pounds already! Having a hard time with food the past couple of days. I think I just need to get my head screwed back on right. Work has been chaotic because of testing, so lunck schedules are messed up and I have been spending all morning in someone else's classroom, so hoefully that is part of it and it will get better next week. I sure hope so! I don't want to step on that scale Monday morning and see a higher number!! Went to my first support group meeting here in town last night. Only 4 of us showed up, but it was the first time, so it should get better. The only problem is that after next month, the meetings will move from Wed. night to Mon. night and I have to work! :w00t: That really took the wind out of my sails because I was SO looking forward to being able to attend a group locally!! I'm going to try to work something out if I can. Afterall, it is only 1 night per month. We'll see I guess!

    2008 National Lap-Band Conference

My husband says I am going to Atlanta no matter what. That is the week before my birthday, so I am hoping he will go with me and we can make a bit of a celebration of it. It is only about a 4.5 hour drive to the airport area for me and with the special deal on the room, you really can't beat it.

Oh cool! Someone else from Sumter! Would you like to stay in touch? Which office are you using in Columbia?
  11. Hi Mary,

I'm not sure if the Sumter support group is still active or not but I will try to find out for you. They were meeting at Tuomey in classroom 1 on the 4th Monday or Tuesday every month. I'll let you know as soon as I can. Are you in Sumter?

I would love to go on the cruise, but just don't see how it would be financially feasible for me from South Carolina. That would make for one expensive vacation! Have you heard about the Lighten Up expo in Atlanta in January?

Since we are in the powder room.......

I ahve never worn mineral make up but have been curious about it and hated to spend $15 or more just to try it and possibly not like it. I went to the Everyday Mineral site and it looks great! They have a free sample kit that only costs $3.13 for standard USPS shipping. I can't wait to try it. Thanks Harley!!

    lesson learned

Broccoli is one of the most common problem foods for bandsters. The tops are ok, but the stems won't go through. That was the first food I got stuck on. Just thought I would mention that little tidbit. Good luck!

    Post Op Port question...

Also keep in mind that you are still pretty swollen in there, so that may be effecting what you see at this point. Mine sticks out somewhat too, but no one would notice and I am expecting to have a revision eventually. My port is on top of the lower part of my rib cage, so pretty close to the surface, but much easier to find for fills the nurse says.
  21. I have had 2 fills and am at 6.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. I go for another fill today. I have lost 40 pounds so far, but am not yet at my sweet spot and am hoping to get a little closer today. I know it will take some tweeking as I lose, but it is going to be SO worth it! Good luck!

Viagra in his suitcase before trip

How are things, Sylvia? My current DH also travels for his job and has also cheated, both when out of town for business and when out of town with his band. His problems? Ego and low self-esteem. We have stayed together and worked through things, but the trust is still not as absolute as it once was. This is mainly because of me. He hasn't done anything to make me doubt him in almost 2 years, but I am still hesitant. It hurt and deeply and that takes time to get better. I do love him though and I know he loves me, so to me, it is worth it to stay together and try to make it better. Now if it happened again, I wouldn't be so willing to. As for the lie detector test, I don't put much value in them. As the daughter of a former cop, I was raised knowing how the results can be schewed and was told from a young age never to take one because of that. You already know the truth in your heart. That said, I say go with your gut. I know for me, the only times in my life I have regeretted a decision I made was when I blatantly disregarded my gut and ended up hurt because of it. That's not always easy to do. Talk to your therapist one on one too. They might shed a little light on the subject as well. Good luck.
