OMG!!! Dinner Party Disaster
Awww. I'm sorry you were embarrassed. These things happen though, I'm sure they would understand but I can understand how you want to keep it a secret. I've been shouting it out through the hills though. I am super excited to change my life.

Hello from Millington Tn
I was told I had to do a year worth of weight management too, So I called the insurance and it turns out it was a mistake...found out I only had to do 6 months. I would call and make sure first. Good luck on your journey though and welcome to LBT

Feel Like a Sell Out!
I would go for what you planned on going for Lap Band. Besides it's safer and less to go through. It's up to you but, in the long run I think you should stick with what you picked. Good luck.

Can't stop eating!
Half of the battle is will power, I don't even have my band yet and I am controlling what and how much I eat for this 6 month diet. You have to want to not eat the wrong foods or eat too much along with the tool. I'd get some emotional support somewhere.

Light Headed During Liquid Diet
I think this is why my doctor requires a protein shake for breakfast, lunch and a high protein small sensible dinner for 2 weeks before surgery. I dunno if I could do all liquid.

How long does it usually take?
I went to my seminar April 5th and I found out from my insurance I have to do a 6 month diet, so I won't be able to have surgery in the summer like I wanted. My surgery won't be until Oct, or Nov.

When did your period come back?
I didn't have a period for 3 months and before it was all out of wack and was like a 1 or 2 day period. I started my period on april 22nd, and I have been bleeding heavily and constantly since then even today. I dunno if its normal or if its cause my uterous got all that built up from no period. I havent had surgery yet but I weigh 416 pounds. What do you guys think?
-
Worried
I think I posted some of this wrong. I'm 22 and I weigh 416 pounds, I cant buy clothes anymore, i break furniture, I don't fit in chairs. I cant do anything I want to do, seatbelts don't fit anymore etc. This surgery will give me my life back and I'll be able to actually live again. The surgery isn't the only thing that actually keeps my going or knowing I can have it. It's the fact that I don't want to die at 22, 23, or a young age because I ended up not being albe to have the surgery because of stupid mistakes. Everytime I lose weight on my own I gain it back and then some no matter what I do. The band will help me actually keep it off to where I can be a healthier me and not worry so much about not waking up the next day or having a heart attack going up the steps.

please read and if you hear me i need your input
Wow you have done an amazing job! Congratulations. I am so sorry you're having problems with the new you. It's understandable. I would seek a support group/counseling. Good luck!

things to do before your surgery
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks there's something missing from this story.
-
Worried
I found this post rather rude, I know I have to work hard and It's going to be a long battle. I'm just saying KNOWING that I can actually have this surgery is keeping me going and I don't want to have that taken away from me. I know the band is only a tool, the rest is up to me. I am not ignorant.:welldoneclap:

things to do before your surgery
When we learn about lapband they tell us a risk of it could be death. We all know this, not to sound mean but not many people die from this procedure and it isn't very nice to try and scare people into doing these things or not having the procedure done. Yes I am sorry for your loss but we already know the risks.

ur What Tests Did You Need Pre-Op?
I had bloodwork/ chest xray I need to do a psych evaluation, endoscopy, and EKG 2 weeks before surgery I'll be doing a diet with 2 Protein shakes a day (one Breakfast, one lunch) and a sensible dinner And for the insurance I'm doing a 6 month diet

Worried
Thanks for this reply mstrina! I was really starting to worry and you made me feel a lot better. I know the band isn't a cure all and that I have to work, I am working hard as of now with this diet. I haven't felt bad about myself like I did back when I was younger ever, never have even thought about hurting myself again or anything. I know I can change my life and I want to change it for the best. I sure hope the psych they give me understands that. I'm all for a new WONDERFUL life.

Worried
oh also my reg psychatrist is too busy for a 3 hour evaluation the hospital is going to set me up with one of theres for my evaluation...I sure hope things go well...I'm scared.
-
Worried
I was 15 and I went to counseling for like 5 years. I am on depression meds and I see a pyschiatrist once every 3 months. I don't do counseling now but I talk to my psychiatrist. Do you think that helps? =/
-
Worried
Hello all. I woke up today wondering... Have any of you ever had a suicide attempt in the past and told the psych about it during your evaluation. I have one suicide attempt when I was 15 and my nurse knows so I know I need to tell my psych when it's time for that evaluation...also I used to be a cutter and have scars on my arms etc. I'm worried that even if it was so many years ago when I did it if he will say I am not emotionally stable for surgery. Please someone let me know so I don't go crazy. This surgery is the only thing that keeps me going, I don't want to lose it all due to a stupid mistake I made 7 years ago.

I'm frustrated
Hi Heather! A PB is a port block. It can happen if you eat too much or eat too big of bites etc. It can cause pain and nausea etc. You can have alochol after 1 year after surgery just not a lot, it's lots of calories. Recovery varies I'd say most is a couple of weeks but it all depends on the person. And the 6 month waiting period usually has to do with insurance. My insurance requires I do a diet for 6 months or they will not pay for the surgery.

Also ISmith, I just wanted to let you know your ticker isn't showing. It looks like you put the wrong coding.
