  1. I thought the same thing when I saw my charges were over $30,000. Self pay is much cheaper. I also saw that my insurance paid what's called eligible charges which are much less. I only had to pay $75 copay for surgery and $60 for the nutrition class.
  2. Thanks girl. So is "Senator McCain, what's your boggle?" an appropriate way to use the term? lol
  3. Girl, keep on pushing on and pressing forward! Don't let anyone discourage you.
  4. If people only knew the hardwork and dedication that is involved with wls. To think that some say that we are taking the easy way out! Sxevan you are on your way girl. Keep us posted!
  5. Patty, everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is no place in this social group/forum for garbage or hate. If this group offends you just avoid it. I could go into a historical and social analysis as to why this thread exists but because of your approach to the matter, you don't deserve one. Riddle me this? Have you posted threads in the other social groups on LBT (gay and lesbian, Christian bandsters, over 50 bandsters, Texas bandsters, October bandsters- the list goes on and on)complaining about their existence? btw bandsters of all nationalities have posted answers to our questions without a problem. We have never turned them away or admonished them. Loving and celebrating ourselves as woc does not equal hate of others. Please don't bring negative trash talk here. You seem like a passionate person. Wouldn't your advocacy go to better use on things such as climate change, poverty, education reform etc?
  6. mzreeda I hope everything goes ok. Keep us posted. Prayers are going up!
  7. Congrats girl! Nov. Will be here before you know it. Keep us posted on your progress!
  8. OK it's my turn now and I may get a little profane in the details! I lost 2 mothersucking lbs and lost my damned mind today. I have eaten all of the wrong shiggity! Although I have eaten less than my big @ssy would have pro op, I have eaten more than I have eaten in 5 weeks. I feel like a sick cow! Tomorrow I am going back to phase 3 soft foods. Grits and soup! AAAHG! This is some bull shiggity! OK I'm done.
  9. Aprilapple answering roll! I am so proud of this forum I started it in July ( a mere 3 months a go!) I believe that skinnyoneday was the first to post a response so that we could start a social group. Now there are over 100 sistas in the group. It is the most popular forum on LBT! Holla! Thanks ladies so much for believing in what we are trying to do here. Thank you all for joining and continuing to post and start new threads. Thank you for taking ownership of this group and keeping things moving! I am truly motivated by all of your stories and experiences. I pray that we will continue to be a blessing to one another. I am almost 5 weeks post op with a realize band installed. My first fill is scheduled Oct. 22 and I have lost 16lbs!
  10. I am sure that most of us can relate to your struggle with wl and your anxiety, but all of those things will make you stronger! Congrats!
  11. I gained 30 plus lbs on my six mos. diet and was still approved by insurance.
  12. Congratulations on getting banded! That gas can be the devil.
  13. I was just about to post the same thing! I love the target line by Blakely.
  14. I could not wait to get to soft and regular foods. I don't have a big sweet tooth but I like the 100 calorie oreo cakes. They take the craving away. We can do this girls! Just hang in there! (Although I have found that I can tolerate a krystal burger:embaressed_smile:)
  15. hey froggi, what weight does it go up to? You can always use it when you lose weight.
  16. I have not gained weight
  17. yes. I was approved in about two weeks. I have PPO peehip. I also had to do the six month diet and I used photos to document my weight history.
  18. Oh wow sg. You're gonna be a toothpick! Aren't you excited at that prospect? I know that I can't wait!
  19. Slim:you just had surgery a week ago. Give it time. I get frustrated as well, I really do but I just focus on something else. My biggest fear is that I am going to slip into the old habits of overeating because I don't have restriction. But I look at it this way: I don't eat half the crap that I use to eat almost 4 weeks ago! OMG! I use to eat like a dog. Now, I try to make better choices and my intake is smaller. The thought of eating certain thinks makes me sick. I can't imagine biting a hamburger! Does anyone else feel like that? I am holding on until my first fill on OCT 22.
  20. We have a lot in common! I am an assistant principal as well. I told my principal that I was having hernia surgery ( I have a hiatal hernia that I thought would be removed but I found out after surgery that the doc did not feel a need to remove it). So my original reason was partly true. I had the sick days so I took them. I did not have to tell anyone at central office anything other than when I signed my time sheet, I indicated using those days. My principal is really cool. We are like peas and carrots but I did not feel compelled to tell him that I was getting banded. I took 1 week off. Take you a throw pillow for your desk chair after surgery. If you get it done over xmas you will be more than ok. I wish I could have had mine done over the summer.
  21. All I can say is "wow". This is a beautiful thread. Positive: 1. I avoided the scale this weekend because I just knew that I had gained weight as I moved to solid foods. I got on the scale this morning and I actually lost 1lb! 2. I am unsubscribing to rants and political threads that are not contributing to my weight loss journey. I am subscribing to more threads like this one!
  22. My story is like Michee. I told my immediate supervisor that I had hernia surgery. My eating wasn't questioned at all because of that.
  23. 1. hyperbole:extreme exaggeration 2. fatso: inappropriate extreme exaggeration when used to refer to a fellow bandster (IMO) 3. I read your original post before it was edited. Personal attacks again? Go pick a fight somewhere else. I have no interest in engaging with you. sidebar: I bet my lapband that well enough will not be left alone.
  24. Yes. Exactly. I guess I was thinking about so much but typed so little. Have your Dr. orders ready. Perhaps I was thinking that once you cleared it through Human resources, you would not have to reveal certain things to your supervisors or management? Also, whatever you reveal to your employer, he/she must keep it confidential unless you give permission.
