  1. Note to self: Get some biotin! I actually have very thick hair but am wearing sew ins to grow it out (for good this time) I just had some saga indian remy taken down(loved it!) Its great for a silky straight look but also does well with rollers. It can't take a lot of heat or heavy greasy products. I currently have VIP yacky remy. I bought the yacky remy because it has a little more texture and I need to be able to flat Iron the style that I am wearing (lovin' it). I still don't use greasy heavy products You have to be careful with remy cause you don't want to look like a wet cat. Besides it costs too much money to mess up! Also, if you use product you are gonna need to shampoo it at least every 1 1/2 weeks. My picks: Aveda all the way! I use the Light Elements Smoothing Fluid ($24) for sheen on the saga remy and I use it to flat iron the yacky remy. It is very light weight, high gloss and yields great results. I also use the Aveda Brilliance Anti-Humectant pomade ($19) for fly aways and shine. I swear by them on my on hair as well. You will never go back to another product! The Shampure is great conditioner and shampoo if you are washing it yourself. If your stylist is not use to working with remy feel free to let her know that it can't take a lot of heat or oil (grease in the dirty dirty) I hope this helps. Let me know how you hair turns out
  2. Girl that's my neck of the woods! I am so excited for you. I know that you are stoked about your cruise!
  3. Slim I see you have 4 days left! I know you are super excited
  4. First of all what the heck is a cabbage roll? I mean I know food but that one has stumped me. Secondly, that lady was just stereotyping you all the way. May be you should have said "no I can't make cabbage rolls, but I am famous for my pancakes. Perhaps you have seen my picture on the box?" I just have to ask. which Walmart were you in? When is your surgery date? I haven't heard from you in a while. How's it going?
  5. I had surgery on a Tuesday and had planned to go back that next Monday. I did not go back until the next Tuesday. I actually wish I had two weeks off. Not because of pain but because by two weeks you will be ready for soft foods and have adjusted to the idea that you just had surgery.
  6. Way to go girl! I was banded 9/9. Which band did you have installed?
  7. Poohprecious, I am so sad as I am typing this. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now. Please know that the will of God will never take you where the power of God will not protect you. Thank you for sharing this with us. It may help someone here someday. Were there any symptoms early on? Is there anything we should be on the look out for? I am praying for your health and recovery. Peace and Love.
  8. Hey girl I am sending a prayer up for you to have a textbook surgery and a great recovery! Don't forget to check-in when you feel up to it. I had to go back and read from the top. There are several surgeries coming up and I want to wish you all well. Sorry if I missed you the first time.
  9. Is that your ethnic background? I really appreciate the diversity among women of color. Holla!
  10. Hey ladies maybe this thread will help you brainstorm a band name http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f269/band-name-game-72345/
  11. Just wanted to give a quick update. I went to my one week post op to get the staples out and I have lost 11 lbs since surgery!
  12. We share the same band day! I went to the dr. today and I have lost 11 lbs so congratulations to us!
  13. Jason, she is too cute to poot! (old saying, don't ask me where it came from)
  14. Congrats! Welcome to bandland and the post op diet!
  15. Now that's what I'm talking about!
  16. Trust me, even though my tongue feel like dry sand paper, I have not pressed my luck since! I have 8 more days before I can move to mushies. I just need a little flavor in my life! Can you put sugar free mentos in a blender?...
  17. sugar free jellybelly's? $2.99 having a man tap dance on your tongue with doo doo drawers on? priceless ok I went too far, but you all are cracking me up!
  18. I have a 7 year old bull mastiff named isis!
  19. 6 days post-op and I try to rid the bland taste of the liquid diet from my mouth. Bad idea! Now, I am not trying to sabotage my surgery and I know right from wrong. I just thought if the Jellybelly's melted in my mouth then it would be ok. Wrong! It felt like somebody was stabbing me in the chest with a shrimp skewer! How could such a logical and well thought out plan go so wrong? I must also add that I have a Realize band (installed w/o fill of course) so how could this have happened? It should have just oozed through. Right? I must have miscalculated when constructing my devious plan... I can't be the only one that has tried to rationalize eating something that eventually backfired? Damn those sneaky sugar free tasty little goodies
  20. Maybe I'll keep my office door closed and tell the secretary that if anyone asks to tell them that I am "pumping"- Gotta feed the baby lol
  21. slim: I think I was just weary of drinking my meals the last six days. I also ventured out today and passed so many fast food places but could not stop. I'm smart enough to know what's best for me I guess its just natural. I am undoing years of bad habits almost instantly( I didn't have a preop diet) so I think that my lil moment was normal. I am actually not caring about food as I am typing this. I will just take that part of it day by day. I am feeling so much better. Tomorrow I am back at work where I will hear all of the fake " I missed you" my secretary txt me today and said that when they asked she told them that I had a baby and that I didn't even know that I was pregnant. Now that was hella funny! No one knows I had wls. I told my boss that it was my hernia- a half truth. Not his beeswax
  22. Hey slim, hang in there girl. I had a few last suppers myself and now being on the other side, I can't remember what they tasted like (could be that this bland post op diet has caused taste bud amnesia.) I even think that I mourned food a little today-it was sad like a double funeral. But I am just asking God to give me strength. It will get better...
  23. Make sure you take it easy after surgery and listen to your body. My surgery was on Tuesday and I had made arrangements to go back to work today (Monday) but I am not going until tomorrow. I will I could have had this done this summer before school started. I hate the idea of going back with staples still in my belly and itchy incisions!
