  1. I am having my surgery at a "center of excellence" as well as various other distinctions. I don't have lengthy preop and I am confident that my surgeon knows a lot about this surgery.
  2. I will be banded 9/9 and I do not have a pre-op either. I do have a day before surgery clear liquids diet and fleet bowel cleanse. I was told that the Dr. does not want any food in your bowel in the event that the bowel is nicked during surgery. That could lead to infection. If you eat so much as a piece of toast in the 24 hrs before surgery they will reschedule you.
  3. Well now you can tell your son that you are a samurai warrior!
  4. Now you are the day after me! Good luck!
  5. Come on ladies let's pull it together ! We can do this! shake those nerves. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. We are having elective surgery that comes with risks. But think about it- we are also choosing to have a better quality of life. We are intelligent, phenomenal women who have researched this surgery, jumped through approval hoops and even hushed up nay sayers. We can do this!
  6. I am so happy for both of you! Keep us posted on your progress
  7. Hey Illiana! Welcome to the the Girlfriend group. Have fun reading old posts and creating new ones. Please feel free to add some of that thick Latina spice to our message board!
  8. Congrats on your surgery! Awww... So sorry that you are having a hard time Things will get better.

  10. No. What you said has a lot of truth to it also. The liver can be very fatty. I was also told that if you are super morbid obese or if you carry your weight around your stomach then you may want to lose some weight. It makes it easier for your surgeon. Our surgeons are very skilled, when in doubt -ask them.

  12. Welcome Nik! You will find quite a supportive group here. Waiting on approval can have you on pins and needles but it is sooo worth it.
  13. Way to go! I have been rooting for you. You are no longer "caught in no band land!"
  14. Thanks Sheila. It is a start, but bbq tongs for my bottom? Yikes! ROFLMAO !
  15. Hey sweetpea I heard that you are struggling with gas pains so here is something to laugh them out of you...
  16. Hey atl, my prayers will be with you on tomorrow. I know you will have a "speedy" recovery!
  17. Thanks for sharing Crishell. You have come along way...so toot your own horn and strut your stuff! 1
  18. Enigma you are hella good at tip toeing! Blest I also like the fact that you said you were preventing health problems. I also work in a school as an administrator. Last year I shopped the idea of having wls around with my prinicipal who is super cool and would be discreet if I asked. Well he does not know that I am going through with it. So when I requested time off I just eluded to my hernia repair (he knows that I have reflux) So I am not lying, I'm just not telling the whole truth. If any of the nosey people in my building ask where I was I will just say "sick"

I feel like I have so many preparations to make including reorganizing my kitchen. I guess all in all I can't complain...
  23. Welcome! Who did your surgery?
  24. Keep it to yourself! Sometimes when you have something sooo special (like the band) it is best to savor it by yourself for a while. IMHO
  25. Debbie you give so much insightful advice on this forum that I already view you as the samurai therapist-the conscious of the group / Maybe your band name could reflect that. Something like "freud" or the band could be your "ego" or your "shrink" shrink get it? lol:lol:
