  1. Has anyone taken any water pills after RNY surgery during your period to help with the feeling of being bloated. I feel horrible. I feel like I am retaining 100 pounds of water. I just didn't know if you can take it after RNY.
  2. My doctor told me to start the protein shakes 5 days after surgery. I had to pass gas first then start my 5 day count. Not sure what this was for, but this is what I was told and what I did. Do not buy a lot before surgery though, because I did and ended up not liking any of what I bought. I wasted so much food after surgery because my taste changed so much after surgery I couldn't eat or drink what I could before. Get a good sample of quite a few different ones before. As far as what you can put into proteins shakes just about anything you can stomach...everything has to be liquid and try to keep the acid down. I just drank the premixed ones. I am currently doing premier protein because it is 1 gram of sugar and 30 grams of protein.
  3. Yes it has happened to me to. I just try to ignore them, but its so hard. I know some of the people that I have told that I had the surgery won't hardly even talk to me. I guess we weren't that good of friends anyway.
  4. I am also an emotional eater. I have had to try to change those habbits. I am trying to instead of snack when I am upset or bored, to write down what I am thinking and work through my problems that way. This site is good for that. If something is bothering you there is a good chance that someone else is going through the same thing. It is a life style change. You have to decide you don't want to do that anymore and find another outlet for your emotions.
  5. I have never heard about not having seeds...ooops! lol I have been eating them and they have stayed down fine. The seeds in pickles are pretty soft though.
  6. My son (10yrs old) takes Melatonin. I have taken it a couple of times to help me sleep, and apparently it has the opposite affect on me. It takes me forever to get to sleep and then I only sleep for 2-3 hours and then I am wide awake :/ it is so frustrating when you are already battling sleep. Hopefully it works better for you
  7. Wow! Love all the ideas for pickles!!! I am going to try some of these new ones. I think I started eating tuna about 3-4 weeks out. I can only stomach the tuna in pouches not the can. If the smell bothers you, you may want to try rinsing it before eating it. I have to do that sometimes too.
  8. Pickles are my favorite! I take a pickle and put 1 slice of lunchmeat on it (turkey or chicken) and a cheese stick and roll it up and it is VERY filling! That way I get the pickle that I want with the protein that I need. You can even put tuna (plain) and it still taste pretty good.
  9. I have had to do this many times actually....I ate chicken and then tried to eat it the next day as leftover and it was not settling with my pouch at all. Same thing happened with steamed brocoli one time too. It seems like my pouch does not handle anything heated up in the micowave. I think it makes it too dry. I also was bad and ate some movie theatre popcorn and had to do the same thing. No body should judge anyone on here. We are all here to help eachother out not to put someone down. The only thing I worry about with you, myself and anyone else in here...could this lead to an eating disorder where we eat what we are not supposed to and then go throw it up? I have read lots of articles where this does happen to some people. I feel like being aware of it makes it less likely for it to happen.
  10. Here are my numbers for the week: Current weight 235.6 Last Week 239.6 -4 pounds I will take it....I have not been good this week with the holiday
  11. I am sure it has something to do with the hormone change going on in your body. It may take a year for it to settle down. Sometimes I have problems with this too, I have been using my teenage daughters retin-A cream and it has helped alot. I guess right now our bodies are freaking out with all the changes going on. Hope this helps you out.
  12. Yes, I went through the same thing about the same time. I had called my dietician and they suggested that I drink some 100% juice and pull myself out of ketosis. It worked for me. I could not eat hardly anything. You may call your dietician and see if they will allow this for you. See if it helps. You may be in "starvation mode" and this is not a good thing. Hope you feel better soon.
  13. I have not had c-sections but I have had my appendix removed and gall bladder out and this surgery is comparable to both of them the first day, but after that it is much easier than either surgery that I have had. I am sure it depends on the person and how much pain you can manage. I was walking two hours after surgery, pretty slow at first but each time I got up and out of bed I was feeling better. I was also released to go home after 24 hours. Not too bad of a surgery really. Go in there with a positive attitude and determination to do this as best as you can and it will be fine!
  14. Congrats that is awesome!!! I feel like mine is going slow too...then I think to myself there is no way I could have lost 54 pounds in 9 weeks on my own. You are doing great!
  15. I have days like this too. I feel the same way as you do. Some days are better than others. Its so hard. I don't regret it at all, I just get down sometimes. Mostly about myself. I'm not losing it fast enough and stuff like that. Try to keep positive and everyday is a new day.
  16. Wow! That is amazing. You look so good! Congrats!! I can't wait til I am there
  17. Tomorrow I will be 8 weeks post op and I am down 51 pounds. Started out 297 and as of this morning I am 246.
  18. I hope that in time all of our spouses will understand that we are going through a huge life change. I think it might be good for all couples involved to go through some counseling just to make sure that each person is where they want to be. After looking at some things online, its actually really scary the amount of divorces that come after WLS. Good luck to everyone, including me.
  19. It is amazing the little things that make the biggest difference. I am so happy for you!!! Just wait til you can't wear it anymore again...and you have to take it in to get sized...BECAUSE IT FALLS OFF. Congrats! I now wear my wedding ring on my middle finger...because I don't want to get it sized just yet.
  20. I have an android phone and there is an app...but I am pretty sure there is an iPhone one too.
  21. I got mine to move again...but not much. Hope all yours move again soon.
  22. MFP stands for My Fitness Pal They have a website and a app for your phone that keeps track of everything...greatest thing EVER for me. Once you spend the time setting it up how you want. Check it out.
