I was on Phentermine for six months before looking into the lap band. Worked great for about four months and then my body got used to it. Once the six months were up I had lost 25lbs. but soon gained it all back and now I am actually 5 Lbs. more than what I started at.

What causes erosion? How do you know if you have this? Can it be prevented? Haven't been banded yet but I'm getting a little worried. Maybe I am reading too much. Slip, Erosion, and infection? :faint:

The information that I have gotten from this site is priceless. The good and the bad has informed me that I am prepared for when it is my turn to be banded which I hope will be sometime in August. I hope it is the beginning of August so I am ok to go back to school in Sept. I really cant take off from school. My biggest fear at this point is the insurance company. I hope that the process is quick and I am approved! I go to my primary in two weeks for approval and then I go to the nutritionist and then my last appointment with Dr. Patel, Insurance approval and then a DATE!!!!!:clap2:

Hey that is a very good excuse. Sorry honey I can't swallow because your sperm is so powerful that it will erode my band. HAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAA!!!

Some people are actually put on antibiotics before surgery so I don't see that as being a problem but hopefully the infection will be cleared up by then.

I am with you guys. it is so hard to get to the US legally! I have a friend who had a girlfriend from Brazil and wanted to bring her here. It took 7 months and once she got here she had a terrible time and long wait to get the papers she needed to work. Since she has been here she is trying so hard to learn the language by going to classes. She has done it the legal way and in my opinion the right way. What gets me so mad is the fact that in America you walk into a store and see signs in both English and Spanish. When my ansestors came from Italy did they have things printed in Italian for them? NO! What message are we sending to these people? Come to America and keep your own language we will accomodate you!! NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But how much of this is our own fought? Declare English as the national language. Right now we do not have one? Why??????

I was wondering if anyone has Horizon Blue Cross/blue Shield and if they have been approved for lap band surgery. I have had all my testing done and will be attending my last appointment with the dr. mid-July. They will then submit everything to the insurance company. I am getting very nervous that I have been all through this and someone can come back and say NO disturbs me! Also did anyone have their primary write a letter to the insurance company? My surgeon requires approval from primary but was wondering if a letter might be better. Someone else said that they personally wrote a letter to the insurance company explaining why they want the lap band. Has anyone done this? Thank you!!

I dont have the band yet but have heard you cant lay down after eating or drinking anything. So I guess that after the swallow you may have to sit up for awhile?

I am not banded yet but the doctor during seminar suggested crushing into applesauce. I guess it is worth a try!

Congrats on being banded. Im glad you are feeling better than what you did. Did your dr. write a letter in your behalf for Insurance Co. or did he just sign off saying that he was Ok with you having the surgery. Im curious because I have an appointment with my primary dr. on the 9th of July. Thank you for your help!

I guess the price of the bugg is nothing compared to all of the money I have spent on diets and exercise programs. I think though with all the advertising that the bodybugg should give us each one for free! LOL

Thank you for the information. I too have not been banded yet but trying to plan and think ahead to get containers that are just right.

Good luck Natalie and welcome! The information that I have found on this web site is great and gives both positive and struggles that people have been through. I am going to be banded sometime in August. I go back to the doctor the middle of July and wait for insurance approval. Being active on these boards have made the time waiting bearable!
