  1. I'm approved!!! I am so happy. I called the insurance company this morning and they said that I was approved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all so much for holding my hand during this waiting period. No doubt your thoughts and prayers worked. I guess we will be banded around the same time so it would be great to be able to keep in touch on progress. hugs and kisses Val
  2. I havent been banded yet but was told by the Dr. that white bread just blows up in the pouch and doesnt go down well. Weren't you told this? Val
  3. Holly that sounds really good. Yes please keep us posted and let us know if you like it. Val
  4. Tim I think it would all depend if the man boobs are caused by weight (fat) or breast tissue. Did you have them when you were younger or was it something that developed with your weight? Either way Im sure it will shrink with the weight loss. You might want to check with the Dr. to make sure. Val
  5. A pie with a little ice cream sounds great. Do you think they will let you put the ice cream in the Nurses Station Freezer? LOL
  6. I am still waiting on insurance approval but I am scheduled already for Aug. 13th. I was just thinking how great we are all going to look this time next year!!! We can do this.
  7. I called insurance company this morning and they said it is still pending. Still Waiting! Val
  8. Candle I am soo happy for you! That is wonderful news. Did you call or did they call you! What a relief, now you can start getting the stuff you will need for after surgery. All that positive energy really does work. Val
  9. I will be banded on Aug. 13th (pending insurance approval) and my dr. requires only liquids the day before. I am thinking that I am going to try to do slim fast a week before though. Val
  10. You are both soooo right. There are so many couples out there that cannot conceive and yet children are being killed because of their sex? That is soo sad! I feel for you Sunta. Paying for a child is a crime in itself especially when no one wants that child to begin with.
  11. I am not banded yet and I have read many of the threads up here. We cannot imagine going out to dinner and ordering an appetizer and only eating one or two things and taking the rest home. I am with you on that. The best thing you can do is go to support groups before and after surgery to help deal with the emotional issues. Going to talk to a psychologist might also be helpful. Many people who have already been banded say that they enjoy food even more than before because they actually taste their food. Get togethers with friends and family become more social events rather than eating events. It may not be easy but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel-Go for it!
  12. Hi Sharon I am sorry to hear about what you are going through. But if your insurance is covering 100 percent of the surgery why do they want money from you up front? Maybe I misunderstood something. Dont panic yet talk with them first. Good luck! Valerie
  13. More than likely the headaches are due to the lack of sugar in your diet. You are goingthrough sugar/carb. withdraw. It sounds like you are doing a really great job. Keep up the good work the headaches should go away soon.
  14. Good advise Pmmegm! Candle I dont have a CPAP but I can imagine how difficult it would be to get used to. Hang in there. As far as the shape and the condition of your body...Well we are all with you and understand. It is depressing but you are doing something about it and that is what you need to focus on right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you...chin up! Val
  15. I don't see how they cant pay for complications especially if it is affecting your health.
  16. Thank you Diann for your care and support. I know that it is all worth it!
  17. Hi I am a second grade teacher in NJ. I am not banded yet but have a date for surgery on Aug. 13th. I can't wait! Everything was sent to the insurance company on July 18th so I hope to here good news soon. Nice meeting you all!
  18. lotsaleg that is just what my Dr requires yours might not require all of those things. I really dont understand why I needed a PAP but its good to go anyway I guess.
  19. I told you guys I didn't have patients. I called the insurance company and they said they have the paperwork and it is now pending. The ball is rolling, I just don't know where it is headed!
  20. I would save it on your favorites and then just try to get on everyday. Just a suggestion. Val
  21. I have a friend whose sister was diagnosed with Hoshimoto's also. Before she was diagnosed she was having a hard time swallowing and she described it as if something was caught in her throat. They finally figured out that she had nodules and the tyroid had to be removed. Have it checked out it sounds very similar to what she went through. Val
  22. I have heard others say that sometimes the meds that they take for pain after surgery can do that to you. You can also try stool softeners.
  23. It is hard to believe as a parent myself that one could do this to their child especially if you were happy and comfortable with yourself. That being said did you ever tell the surgeon the way you felt and that you were being forced to do this? How could a psych. give approval for this surgery if you were not 100 percent sure that this is what you wanted. What about your primary dr.? There was an 17 year old boy on Big Medicine the other night and even with the parent approval they weren't sure they should perform the surgery. If this is not something that you want I agree that you should get an unfill and that will allow you to eat what you want and pretty much as much as you want. Good luck in your decision. Val
  24. Hi lotsaleg, The waiting is very hard. You spend months getting all the tests which for me included echo, ekg, upper gi, pulimary arterial gasses , PT, abdomianal ultrasound, leg ultra sound, pap smear, chest x-ray and then you go to the specialist for approvals -cardio, psyc, pulminary, and primary care dr. And then when all of that is completed you WAIT. So yes it is stressful. I think I have to say the serenity prayer a few times because it truely is out of my hands at this point.
  25. Thank you so much for the advice. I will ask the dr. next time I go. Val
