Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Approval!!!

Recommended Posts

When I went to visit Dr. Spivak in Houston for a consultation back in June they were very persistant to tell me that Blue Cross Blue Shield would deny me. They said they hadn't had any approvals from them. I was prepared to pay out of my own pocket but I let them submit it anyway. I have no comorbities and my BMI is barely 40.

When I got home that night and my husband and I talked about it, I had decided to just pray everyday for the same thing and believe that it would happen. My prayer was that the insurance would approve it as though they had never seen it. That there wouldn't be any denials, they wouldn't ask for any other paperwork and that they wouldn't drag it out forever. My husband stood in agreement with me on this prayer and today, one month after my consultation, I received my letter of approval.

Isn't that something? No, it is something...it is God. I know this is a lap band forum and not a prayer forum, but I just wanted to share my experience.

That is awesome!! I'm praying for the same thing here in NC. Did you have an exclusion for Lap-Band in your policy?

Hi Mellie, I have B/c B/s of Virgina, I live in Ky. but my husband's co. has insurance out of Virgina... I had the Drs. letters on Aug. 6th. and was approved on Aug 8th.!!! Ask your Insurance co. for the entire policy, My Dr, happens to be out of network, but I have out of network coverage. The hospital part will be paid in full. My whole bill would have been paid in full if I would have chosen a DR. in network.Good luck to you. I will have surgery on Aug. 30th...

I too believe in the power of prayer...to God! Thank God for your blessing! I was dealt a blow as well from my insurance company. At the last minute they decided I was not completely approved but was not denied. This made no sense to me whatsoever! I'm scheduled for July 2nd (Monday) and guess what, I'm stepping out on faith and believing that God will see me through! Please pray with and for me that Cigna will pay for the surgery! I'm not turning back now because I know that Satan wants nothing more than for me to loose my zeal and faith in Christ. God is good...ALL OF THE TIME! I cannot financially afford to pay for the surgery as I am a single parent of 1. The power of prayer is powerful.

Many blessings!

That is so wonderful to hear. I do believe in the power of prayer!

Thank you Valzie! I am going to press on with my surgery on Monday (July 2nd) and keep my faith that all will work out with Cigna. It's not about loosing the weight but it's about loosing the depression that is caused by the weight. Please keep me in your prayers as I seek to live a better life. I hope all is going well for you with your Quest to be happier and more self confident in life!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
