  1. I start my preop diet on Tues 4/10. I am totally depressed too. I am thinking about how long it will be before I can eat again and wondering if I've lost my mind! I know I have made the right choice. I want and need to do this, but my head is making me miserable right now. I totally understand and am so comforted to know others feel like this too. It fits perfectly that I am grieving food.

I hear you about the preop diet. I start mine this coming Tues 4/10 and I am scared out of my mind. First, you would think I would have given up the diet pepsi ahead of time. did i? NO. so I can go cold turkey on the pop that I drink about 32 ounces a day. If I could stick to a diet, I would be thin. That's the whole problem. But I'm scared to death that if I don't comply, my liver will be too large, and they won't do the surgery. I am going to do this. i have to. And you will too. I will lock myself in a closet if I have to. lol. I already apologized to my husband and daughter for anything I might say or do during the 2 weeks, but I know that will be no excuse for mistreating people. Who knows, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised and it will be a piece of cake. Piece of cake???? did I just mention food? OMG. Be strong!

Two things - can you find Chobani brand? That seems to taste better than some others. Another tip I haven't tried but heard works well is to put a little splenda in it to sweeten it up. Hope this helps.....
  4. Sounds like you're mending fast! Keep up the good work. Love reading your posts.
  5. I definitely want to be sleeve buddies! I'm scheduled 4/23, so we're pretty close in dates. I'll be following your progress and hope you keep us updated often. I'll try to do the same.
  6. What a road you've been on! Like others, I will be praying for you. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and while reading your post I had the feeling you will get through this and be stronger for it. So, after getting admitted for all this crapola - the hospital had electrical problems?!! REALLY - Geez, you must have wondered can this really be happening! Did you have a leak test the morning after your first surgery? I was wondering if the leak occurred after a negative test? Hugs to you
  7. I also have a comment about crushing pills - the University of Michigan where I am having my surgery no longer requires crushing. When my husband had his sleeve a year ago at the same place, he was instructed to crush his pills, and if something was time released they switched him off it until he could swallow. I'm not sure why they decided it was no longer necessary, but I'm glad!!
  8. Hi - Glad you got home safe. I'm just curious - when you're talking about the fluids you got in, are you getting in protein too?
  9. I think you should just give him a great big hug cuz he sounds like a real sweetie!! Too cute!

Interesting how that happened....it's good that you took it nice and slow. How'd the rest of the day go? what snacks etc. did you take in your cooler?

I like your plan. How incredible to be around so much food and festivity and not want to indulge. The postop plan they will have me follow is super slow. Full liq 2 weeks, pureed 2 wks, soft 2 wks, then reg. Keep up the good work!
  12. April 23 here - good luck!
  13. Wow! What a change! Fantastic - you must be jumping for joy with your new more beautiful face and bod!!! I hope losing 80 pounds doesn't just mean hanging skin for me at my age (56)!
  14. 5'4" 56 yo 212 lbs preop diet starts 4/9 surgery 4/23 don't want to waste another minute - told myself at 40 - don't spend your 40s fat - but I did - same thing at 50 - well now at least I'll have some 50s left and great 60s - 60 is the new 30 right?? lol
  15. Funny, I woke up with sagging skin on my mind today, and here's your post! At my age, I know I am going to have a lot of it and wondering the same thing. I'm especially worried about my face and neck, and then my upper arms. Anybody have advice for us?
  16. Lissa - You are awesome! Congratulations on all your success! You mentioned having a drink to celebrate and I had to smile. It reminded me of what the NUT said at our preop meeting - alcohol is frowned on, but we'd be "cheap dates" cuz it would take so much less to get a buzz. I quit drinking many years ago but found that interesting....
  17. God bless - good luck to all of you. Soon you will be a sleever!!
  18. Wise words DebiC! I totally agree and thank you.

You're an inspiration! Keep it up - look forward to hearing more. Hugs.
  20. As of now I am totally addicted to Diet Pepsi. My medical team has told me that I must give it up, not have anything carbonated, and the caffeine at first is also a no-no. Initially, I thought it would be so wonderful if some day I could drink the pop again. BUT - after more thought, why? Isn't the point of this journey to be healthier and start a new path of taking care of myself? So, I have given up alcohol and cigarettes, and will give up the Diet Pepsi too. It's full of nothing good. And aspartame is being shown to have nasty long-term effects.. good bye my love...don't let the door hit in you in in the ----.
  21. Sounds like you're doing fantastic! Glad to hear it. Keep those updates coming. I'm scheduled for 4/23.
  22. Sounds like you're doing fantastic. Glad you're feeling stronger. You need to get lots and lots of rest right now. I like the idea of staying off the scale too. I think I'll plan to do once a week too. Got my insurance approval and OR date set for 4/23. I'm close behind you! Hugs - Joni
  23. Great idea! I forgot about True Lemon - which I love, and wonderful that it has no sugar. Will definitely be adding that to my water. Thanks for mentioning it.
  24. Congratulations Teach! Oh happy day... good luck and keep the posts coming. Hugs!

Good for you! I'm still preop but I have all the emotions. And I know I will have those thoughts postop - what did I do? It's remembering that they are JUST THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS, and they all pass. Thanks for your honesty. Hugs.
