  1. Janine, Don't be scared everything will be fine! People tell the same kind of horror stories during pregnancy and just think of this like that. You will be able to eat your favorite foods in moderation and who really cares what you are eating when you are skinny?
  2. Dr A is 8750 for the surgery. I got a loan for my surgery. I don't know what I would do if I had to choose a Dr who had only done a few sleeves : / I'd find out if you can go out of state to a surgeon who has more experience.
  3. Ya know, calling MC's advertisers and telling them you will no longer buy MC or their products if they support this kind of attitude is the best way to really see change.
  4. I would talk to her about it but I would not focus on the weight you have lost but rather getting healthy. She might not be able or ready to lose the kind of weight you have lost but in little ways she can join you in getting healthy IF SHE CHOOSES. I put that in caps because everytime my Mom went on a diet she wanted to do it together and it pissed me off. It was as if she was saying, "Oh now that I'm fat I need a partner and you are fat so..." You can involve her by making healthy dinner together or doing zumba workout or even little things like celebrating victories with mani/pedis instead of food.
  5. Have you thought of going to Mexicalli Mexico? At first I didn't even consider Mexico (OMG that's like have your brother's best friend's cousin doing surgery!) but the more I read of the great experiences and the more sure I was that THIS was the surgery for me I finally considered it. I called and spoke with Dr. Aceves' patient coordinator, Nina and everything went from there. I had a good feeling about it. I go on my feelings a lot and I have been right so far.
  6. Hi and welcome. I think one of the best things about this surgery so far is I'm not beating myself up as you described. Before surgery I would eat something or too much of it and I would berate myself. I'd see myself in the mirror or pictures and think of how fat I was. Everyday I started a new diet and by lunch time had failed. I still have bad habits. I still want to eat just to eat. I still don't make perfect choices but I'm learning and I'm a lot nicer to myself. You will love the sleeve! WELCOME!
  7. I'm a really fast eater too. I know it sounds strange but it helps me to eat while I'm on the computer. I will make and measure my food then I take a small bite and put my spoon down and read something while I'm chewing. Then I finish reading it and take another bite. I am NOT someone who waits 2-3 minutes between bites. I wait about 30 seconds or a minute. It doesn't take me long to eat my food at all of course I'm only getting in maybe 5 bites at the most. The other day I had some egg salad after work and I was so hungry. I hate about 2 oz of egg salad in less than a minute and OMG did I pay. I had to lay down for a couple hours. The pain in my chest and back was terrible. It's a learning process!
  8. I had some egg salad after work today and I was so hungry I totally forgot about being sleeved and just ate it. It's like my brain shuts off when I eat. I had something stuck in my chest and it hurts most in my back for about 30 minutes. I'm working on being more mindful of eating.
  9. The back pain does get better. I'm not sure what it's from. I seriously think they lay you funny on the table or something. Just walk walk walk and I had someone massage my bag with a heating pad.
  10. Good luck! Can't wait to hear from you on the other side!
  11. Hi Jane and welcome! You are gonna love what VSG can do for you and what YOU can do for you!
  12. You are unsure if YOU can handle all the attention or your partner? I have a pretty solid marriage but yeah I wonder how it may change.
  13. I've read about this happening a lot and I had mine for probably an extra week. I wouldnt' worry at all about it, that's very normal after surgery.
  14. I wanted to add that one of the girls who went to Dr Aceves at the same time I did was also from Sask Canada. I'm 2 weeks and 2 days out and I"ve lost 21lbs since surgery 5lbs before. Good luck!
  15. I get on it several times a day. I've been the same weight for the last 3 days where as before I was seeing a 1-2lb loss a day. It doesnt' discourage me when I look in the mirror I see a lot of changes in my face and body. I just like updating my ticker
  16. Actually I found it at my grocery store.
  17. I'm only 2 weeks out and yes I miss eating volumes of food but maybe that's beacuse I'm really limited on what I can eat at this stage. Do I miss it enough to regret my sleeve? NO WAY!
  18. I did just get back from Shoneys and I had about 1/2 a cup of cabbage soup minus all the chunky stuff so it was mostly broth but it was really good!
  19. I'm only 2 weeks out and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I'd have it with Dr Aceves again too, in MX.
  20. I can relate to this! I made my family tacos the other night and they smelled so good. Everyone was munching down and I was having soup....2 whole tablespoons......
  21. I'm feeling good. I tried to go back to work on Wed (housekeeping) but I wasn't ready. I was lightheaded most of the day and had to sit down a lot. If I were at a desk job it would be no problem for me. I'm not getting in my protien at all. My friend who also had wls by another Dr said she was told 30/60/90 first month work on getting 30g in a day, 2nd month 60, and 3rd 90. That's what Im trying to do and get my fluids in. My wounds are healing great and I'm down 20lbs in 2 weeks + my 5 before surgery. Can't wait to see what next month brings!
  22. Ooo girl you look hawt! You have amazing legs!
