TMI
Aww...I feel you! I just finished up mine a few days ago and last week....I thought I could eat a cow! Talk about the "white knuckle week"...seriously! I can only offer that I just tried to take it one day at a time...one meal at a time. I went to bed early.....made myself exercise....and powered through! I can so relate to your post!

Still on the Fence Should I take the jump?
Please get as much information about this surgery as you can put your hands on! First of all....your doc is not a bariatric surgeon and I would get advice from a specialist rather than a PCP. This is so "not the easy way" out!. I have worked harder and been more committed to this process than I ever was doing other weight loss programs. The band will not work with me if I am not willing to change my bad habits. If I eat too much, I will have complications. If I eat the wrong things...I will be hungry all the time (banded or not). It took me 10+ months to really decide if I could subscribe to a "bandster life". This is a "tool" that requires alot of information, committment, and quite frankly...is not for everyone. Get the info, empower yourself, make your own decision! Good luck!

An't it funny.... How things work out.
It's all divine timing sometimes. I feel like I wouldn't have been ready to make this lifestyle change any sooner or any later. I was ready when I did it...more than ready. And the Universe conspired to make that happen. All financial and insurance ducks in a row. I put alot of thought into the money I did have to come up with for the surgery (is it worth it....could I put the money away for the kids....you know...always putting my needs last). I am soo glad I put myself first this time. The value of me being healthier and possibly living longer for these kids......well I can't put a value on it!

A Hungry Night...
Congrats on breaking the plateau! I try not to eat after dinner but I too have those days where I am always hungry! I find that protein is the only thing that helps me too. A few slices of turkey or chicken usually help. Thanks for your post!! I sometimes feel guilty about doing this but I have been good about distinguishing between head hunger and real hungry. Lately...it's definitley been real!

Another week down ...
Thought for the week ... Rather than aiming for being perfect, just aim to be little bit better today than you were yesterday. I love that. I may adopt the same daily mantra! Thanks for sharing.

Getting back on track......
I love your post! I too have to remember every single day to put myself and this process first. One of the hardest things to do but necessary. I am sure you will do just fine. This is a whole lifestyle change and acknowledging what is working and what isn't right away will help us get to where we want to go. Be nice to yourself.

Questions I wished I had asked.....
I think I would have asked more questions about "bandster hell" as well. They did not really explain this time before fills very well!

No longer feeling out of control/ ready to move on...
All very informative responses. I will only add that the first few days of the liquid diet was brutal for me. I felt exactley the way you did...but when I stuck to the plan and drank all the shakres required (I wasn't allowed anything other than broth and sf popsicles), I found that the panic subsided, the cravings calmed, the head hunger could be redirected. I promise that this is the hardest part. Congrats on your commitment and your journey!

Fast food and alcholic drinks??
For me...the answer is yes. Once I started and finshed pre-op and post-op liquid diet, I pretty much purged my body for things I craved. What I did crave was real food.....something I could chew. I actually turn my nose up to "Non food" like fast food. My body craves good Proteins, fruits, and veggies. Good luck to you!

My surgery is Friday
I had similiar fears of going "under the knife". The anestheoliogist told me that the risk of getting into an accident in our car every day is far greater than not coming out of anesthesia. I believed him...and it helped calm me. I too did this for my children. The risks of being fat (illness, early death) far outweighed the risks of surgery. You will be great! Congrats!

Note to self: MOVE IT!!!!
Where can I get a Fitbit? Sounds fun!

Seek Him!!!
