  1. I had such a great week! I joined a gym...returned to Friday night softball (in which I was more limber and fluid-had a great game) and I hit the BIG 40! 40 pounds down from the start of my journey. What a difference a "toddler" makes! Sometimes I feel like posting only when I am frustrated, tired, and emotionally spent. Today I am just feeling generally good! This too is post worthy!
  2. I too learned alot about myself during "liquids". I was on them for 2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post op. It was brutal....but everyday was a step "away" from my emotional attachment to food. Sending good/positive thoughts your way!
  3. Your a superhero in my eyes. It's very hard to work on both addictions. "This girl is on fire!" ~ Alicia Keys
  4. Thank you! This is helpful! I have faith in the "bandsters" that have gone before me.
  5. Thank you!! All this bandster wisdom actually calms my "twisted brain".
  6. I recently went somewhere to eat and they brought out complimentary french fries and for a split second I thought..."well if it's free then I don't have the log the calories". I quickly laughed at how my brain works hard trying to keep me fat and tossed the fries after all.
  7. Starting some of these things will make it so much easier when you are post op! Good for you! I did similiar things before I was banded for several months. I also started to chew, chew, chew more (not inhale my food) and paid very close attention to how big my bites were. Now this is becoming second nature to me. Congrats on your journey!

    My rules exactley!
  9. Love it! Thank you so much. Patience is something I am working on but I do remind myself that I didn't gain over 50 pounds in a month. But I am excited and humbled in the weight I have lost...mainly because it's been from sheer work and determination as my band isn't really working yet!

This is great news. It's amazing what happens when I actually pay attention to my body!
  11. I use Pandora too but people would be surprised to know that I like walking to Broadway Showtunes....lol. I know...I'm a nerd.
  12. I am a skin care specialist in Tampa, and we do lose collagen under our eyes when we lose weight. The collagen could have been a buffer to the melanin changing underneath. I agree that it's time to look into a good eye cream and moisturizer. Dehydration can also cause the discoloration. As well as allergies (old and new ones). Go treat yourself to a facial in your local area and have them put you on a skin care program. Congrats on your weight loss!
  13. Wow! You must be so proud of yourself? I got goose bumps. Very inspiring!
  14. I just joined a gym this morning and had similiar hang ups. I was pleasantly surprised to see all weights, ages, and fitness levels and felt very comfortable. I only did 30 mins on the elliptical and noone cared or noticed. I would like to know how many people have already lost 50 pounds in the crowd you may encounter. Your a rockstar! Hold your head high!
  15. Yes I was on a preop diet and lost 15 pounds on the 2 week liquid diet. I also lost 14 pounds on my own when I was doing the 6 month evaluation that my insurance requirement. I have only lost 6 pounds since I was banded and recently the scale did not move an ounce.....it is starting to move slowly now that I am on solid foods. Congrats on your band. I look forward to seeing your successes!
  16. No fills yet. I am scheduled for my first on 3/22. I am eating the way they suggested and hope the fill will help keep me fuller for longer. Congrats on your mile w/ hills!
  17. I made these for lunch today!! Holy cow...they are yummo! Thanks for the recipe. Soo easy.
  18. This made me laugh out loud as well!! Great post! I too was appalled when body gasses started actually speaking to me...loudly. It's like this band has a life all its own. Your doing great! Love your humor. PS: I am also aware of all the food commercials!! It's unbelievable....no wonder there is an obesity epidemic.
  19. It is my understanding that we all feel this way until we reach our "green zones or sweet spots". This could take 3 or 4 fills or more (everone is different). As frustrating as this is....I think we just continue to walk the walk and fight the fight until that happens. Good luck! Stay positive.
  20. And joining a gym today. I have been happily walking (outside and on the treadmill) but thought I would kick it up a little. It has been years since I joined a gym and I am excited. Baby steps for me (gonna use the elliptical and other low impact machines until I am cleared for other activity). Another phase of the journey.....I am happy to be on the ride! Don't panic and keep moving! My motto for the day!
  21. I can feel the excitement jumping off the page! I am glad you went back.....I am glad you recommitted to the process. Congrats
  22. Walk, walk walk...honestly....this is the only thing that helped me. Congrats on your band!
  23. Hi sweet girl! I too was also discouraged by the non weight loss. I just kept doing what I was doing and the scale has started creeping down again. Last week, I think I had a day where my food choices were high in sodium and gained a pound.....it quickly came off with better choices. Don't get discouraged. You are doing a great job!!
  24. I find it funny that, in my world, I get asked this by "normal body weight" people. No fat person has asked me this...lol.
