Personal Pre-Op goals!

Recommended Posts

I plan on having surgery in Mid-May. I will have a 2 week Pre-op diet prior to surgery. I called February 13th to schedule my consultation and decided that I would try to lose some weight on my own before the Pre-op diet.

So from 2/13 until now 3/8 I have went from 369 to 357!! I'm just doing what I did in the past,

A low cal diet. it always works for me, just can never keep the weight off! This time I will(with the help of the band!).

Listed below are my personal goals that I have already started implementing.

1.) lose weight before my Pre-op diet starts. Hope to be at 345. (my tentative surgery date is 5/13/13 but it's not 100% official yet)

2.) stay at or under 2000 calories every day.

3) use MyFitnessPal every day to track food/exercise (EricNorth25) This will help me get adjusted to using it, which will help later on.

4.) Exercise 5 days a week a minimum of 30 minutes a day. This will include weight lifting and cardio. This will also help me get back in the routine!

5.) weigh in at 335 (or less!) on my surgery day

I'm excited for the lifestyle change and am pumped to be 12 pounds closer to my goal! I will accomplish these goals and thanks ahead of time for the Words of encouragement that you guys will offer me along the way!!

what a wonderful start to your newly soon to be banded life

those goals are very doable and not overly dramatic

do what you can with what you can and with what you have now (want power)

and you will be amazed at what you can do..

hell look at what you did already......a success already :)

Im behind you 100% you can add me on myfitnesspal if you like "knhtown" Keep your focus to one day at a time, if you do not have such a good day... Pick yourself up the next day and go again!

Starting some of these things will make it so much easier when you are post op! Good for you! I did similiar things before I was banded for several months. I also started to chew, chew, chew more (not inhale my food) and paid very close attention to how big my bites were. Now this is becoming second nature to me.

Congrats on your journey!

Weighed in at 353 today! I have checked into MFP 15 days in a row. I had one day where I went over 2,000 calories (2300), but got right back on track. So far exercising 5 days a week 30 minutes a day has been my only inconsistency. Some days I do 20, and have missed a few days. But, I'd say overall it has been 4-5 days a week 20-30 minutes. When the weather is nice (rare) I get more exercise in! I'm excited for warm weather (if it ever comes!).

I am new to this app. I am 5'8" and weigh 267 so I am just eligible for surgery. I have a family history of obesity and obesity related diseases which is why I am pursuing lap band. I see you guys talking about pre surgery weight loss and was wondering if anyone is in the same situation as me and can't do any excessive dieting currently for it would make me ineligible for surgery

I'm also not a person who eats a lot just to eat I only eat when hungry currently 1200-1400 calories per day. Nutritionist had me down to 1000 but I got too hungry but can't lose any weight just consistantly at the same weight. I work out 5-6 days per week

This is awesome!! I JUST got approved today and my surgery is scheduled for April 10th. I start my 2 week liquid diet on Mar 27. I have been eating more than usual since I started this process as I am a "stress eater" but now that I know I'm approved I can't wait to loose weight before my surgery. I will be tracking on myfitness pal also! Will add you next week.

Weighed in at 351 today! 18 pounds so far! Now my surgery date is may 6th. I still hope to be at 345 in time for my pre-op diet. That's 6 pounds I need to lose in the next few weeks! I have logged in everyday to MFP. My biggest struggle is still being consistent at exercising.

Yeah I have read about others who can't lose much weight before surgery. Unfortunately my BMI is above 50 so I have a lot to lose! Lol. Hang in there on the diet. You can do it!!!

I was in the same boat( had my band on 2/19.) 5'8" and weighed 263. I had no weight loss requirement pre-op and no pre-op diet.

Since banding I'm down almost 30lbs BUT it's a struggle EVERY day. I haven't had a fill yet so it's all "want power." I can eat exactly as I did before but I have to work hard not to do so.

Follow what your doctor says and you will be fine!

Checking in at 345! 24 pounds loss so far. I was at 349 (down 20 pounds) when my official pre-op diet started a few days ago. Only 4 pounds away from my original goal for weight on day of starting pre-op diet (but my diet started a week sooner than I anticipated). But, I'm definitely happy with my 24 pound loss so far. I still would love to be around 335 on surgery day, but I'll be happy wherever I end up! The pre-op diet is tough but I'm getting through it. It'll be worth it in the long run!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
