  1. I am 7 days post op and my body has finally kicked in to hunger mode (I was NOT hungry after surgery-trouble even getting liquids in). I understand your frustration. I just moved from Clear Liquids to FULL liquids and I was a happy girl today! I am really looking forward to puree's next week. I have my recipes all laid out. For me it really has been mind over matter...and one day at a time! xoxoxox---
  2. For me it was alot of family history like; do you have mental illness in your family, history of depression, any other disorders. Maybe we discussed a little about eating disorders and the emotional hold food has on us, etc. etc. But it wasn't much more than that! It'll be fine....just tell the truth. I would think that if one had some serious mental disorders that someone may not recommend you for surgery....but I think they would have to be quite serious...
  3. Welcome and congrats! Your great attitude will see you through.
  4. The pre-op diet is extremely hard...but your attitude is great. Each day I said the same thing.......I have come this far.....no turning back now. Noone said it wold be easy...just worth it. Hang in there!
  5. See you on the other side......(I totally understand what this means now...snicker).
  6. I'm thinking of getting a few "traveling butterflies" up my leg.....not sure yet. But I love the idea of tattooing the journey.
  7. Wow 18 pounds.......I am speechless. That is alot of weight.
  8. That gas is crazy isn't it? I am 6 days post op and still have gas issues and bloating. Ugh!!
  9. And to think I was excited to step up to creamier Soups, yogurt, and runny oatmeal tomorrow!! Congrats to you!! Have fun.
  10. Congrats! We all have those same concerns! You will do great!! Be prepared to rest and walk off the gas after the surgery!
  11. Yes!! Sip, sip, sip......the heaviness will get better...I promise. Congrats
  12. My Anesthesiologist told me, in response to my freak out about being 'put under', "I can give you all the risks but the percentages are very small. Or we can talk about the higher risk daily things...like getting in a car every morning." That, along with some anti-anxiety meds in my IV, pretty much settled my fears! It will be fine...you will do great! Congrats on your new journey!
  13. Warning! If you are newly banded, please wait to read these hilarious stories! It will make your incision site sore and very well may rip it open. I was laughing weirdly and my kids thought I could hurt myself. Good stuff!! Thanks for sharing.
  14. I am 5 days post op...so I know a thing or 2 about the 2 weeks liquid diet...lol. I'm not going to sugar coat it....the first few days are pretty brutal but your body does adjust and your hunger becomes tolerable. You will learn alot about yourself but in the end...it proves that we will survive without as much food as we used to eat. It's challenging but you will make it through. Good luck and congrats!!
  15. We all had/have these fears and many other fears. Most of the veterans will tell you that they are all minor hiccups compared to the abundant success and control they are feeling now. I am newly banded (5 days post op)....still healing...still on liquids. So far, even feeling not-so-hot, I am thrilled! Good luck to you!
  16. Newly banded (very newly-last Thurs)...and the thought of FILLS scare me. I like the route of taking control of the situation and not relying on fills to do the work. If I need one down the line then that's a different situation but I am glad my Doc is stingy on fills. This getting "stuck" business scares the crap out of me!
  17. Medical fasting shakes...Optifast.
  18. You must feel amazing!!??
  19. My doc was very strict. 2 week preop, clear liquids and protein shakes. It was brutal but it did prepare me for post op restrictions and diet....oh and I lost a ton of weight too. Jump start! Good luck!
  20. Here too.....4 days post op! I suspect once we start eating normal foods and our bodies are able to break things down properly again..it will subside! I hope (wink).
  21. Thank you so much! Your right about the respect for food. How unappreciative of food I was when I was shoveling in like there was no tomorrow! Everything tastes better. They gave me apple juice in the hospital and you would have thought it was the best damn apple juice anyone ever made or offered me.....I look forward to savoring and enjoying food again (or maybe ever). I to continue that love affair but on a healthier octave and with so much more respect and appreciation!
  22. Congrats!! What a happy day for you.
  23. Ooppss...sorry. That was Day 4 POST OP Update...sorry!
