  1. I told only people I wanted to share with AND that I knew could keep their mouths shut. It is my decision to share what I want to share and with whom I want to share it with. I have two kids and I told only one, I have two sisters and I told only one. Remember you will need some support so you need to have a special someone to share this with you. As a previous post said, you can not take it back so make sure to make the correct decision for you before you tell. Good luck!
  2. Mine is 6 weeks, tomorrow is my one month bandaversary and my first fill is June 5th.
  3. My PCP handed me the surgeons card and said you should check this out. At first I didn't but I saved the card, it was about a year before I went to a seminar. I now have the band thanks to my PCP.
  4. I had to take a dish to a party last week, I wanted to be sure there was something there I could eat. I took baked beans and deviled eggs.
  5. I also had to pay 20% to the hospital, different hospital and different state. My portion was just over $3000 to the hospital. BUT I got a 25% discount if I paid before the surgery.
  6. I have a sit down job at a computer. I had surgery on Wednesday and went back on Monday.
  7. Forgetting was my first and only stuck episode. I was making deviled eggs and when I was done I just popped the extra one in my mouth and took about two bites. I was in hell for the next 20 minutes, Do it once and you won't forget.
  8. I cut mine with a pill cutter. The smaller ones I cut in half and the larger ones I cut in half and cut again. Then as I get ready in the morning I take two pieces at a time with Water every 1-2 minutes. I have one capsule I open and put on a spoon applesauce. I tried crushing and mixing it in applesauce and it is disgusting.
  9. 2muchfun, Sure pass it on!
  10. So many times I have come across post where people say they do not get much help from their doctors office or they have to pay to see the nutritionalist. I came across this site by accident this afternoon and it is very informative. Hope it helps anyone who needs a little guidance. http://www.peachtreebariatrics.com/docs/Gastric-Band-Patient-Manual.pdf
  11. What a great story and so inspiring. Congrats on your weight loss and thanks for sharing.
  12. HA HA .......... belly for sure!
  13. I kept wondering what that last post was talking about too........ to funny! I also had my surgery on 4/25/12 and three days ago I had my first omlette. As long as it is health and you are within the guidelines, go for it. We can eat eggs, veggies and cheese so I say cook them together and have an omlette.
  14. I told only a select few, my husband, son & daughter-in-law, sister and friend.
  15. I just started this journey so I do not have an answer for you. BUT I did want to say congrats on you accomplishments, awesome job!
  16. I am almost one month out and my stomach growles daily. I was wondering if this was normal. Maybe we will both get an answer.
  17. Thanks everyone, I thought if I followed the rules and did what I was suppose to do, it would work out. But I am finding out that it takes alot more then that. Baby steps!
  18. Thank you Sojourner. You have been very informative and I do appreciate you taking your time to try and help me. Hopefully I can use your information to better myself. I also have a long way to go and hope to get on the right path soon. My first fill is scheduled for June 5th.
  19. Sojourner, Thank you for all the information. I don't usually eat processed meats like hot dogs but I was at a party and didn't have many choices. I think maybe I could eat more greek yogurt and less cheese. I am getting my daily protein between 60-80 grams. I do struggle with alot of water. I do get plenty of liquids not all water. So my main question was did I do the right thing increasing my calories? Thanks for your help.
  20. Axa, If I cut out the things you suggested I would never get my daily Protein in, I usually have a Protein shake on the drive to work and that kicks off my protein for the day. Could you explain to me why I would cut them out if I am staying within the calories and protein limits? Unfortunately, I am not a vegie eater, there are only a few that I will eat. I do love fruit but it has very little calories or protein. I don't have to worry about that time of the month, I am past that point in my life. The PA in my surgeons office said the same thing about using measurement and not focusing on the scale but it is very discouraging when the scale does not move then goes up, down one is better then nothing. Byrd, I have went from NO excercise pre surgery to doing one hour on the Wii Fit and started walking, I am up to one mile a day, I know that is not much but I am working my way up. I have back problems and some days it is hard to go a mile. Thanks everybody for the input.
  21. Cindy's mom, I have been eating protein shakes, yogurt, scrambled eggs, cheese sticks, cottage cheese, chicken, fish, soup. Yesterday I had to go to a party and I had one hot dog (no bun), a few baked beans and a deviled egg. I have tried very hard to stick to the list my doctor gave me.
  22. I only weigh on Wed and last week I had not lost or gained, I was the exact same weight as the week before. I had only been eating between 700 & 800 calories a day. After reading several posts on here I decided my body must be in starvation mode and I needed to increase calories to 1000 to 1100. I have done that for the last four days and curiosity got the best of me, I got on the scale today and gained one pound. Am I doing something wrong? Should I go back to the 800 calories a day? Any input would be appreciated.
  23. Simon, I always sleep with my mouth open which is why I have a full face mask. I am down 27 lbs since I started the Lap band process but 50 lbs since I got my machine 2 years ago. I have just recently started waking up with a very dry mouth and waking up with a slight headache which goes away after I get up and move around. I spoke to my primary care doctor and we are in the process of turning the machine down from 10 to 9. He also told me that if I wanted to try sleeping with out it I could do that and see how I feel the next day. Hope you find your answer.
  24. Running scared, I do believe your doctor is the ONLY one who says you can eat and drink? Anyone else have their doctor tell them this? I think I will stick to what I have been told. No drinking and eating!
