  1. Oh course my husband knows, and I told my sister, my son/daughter-in-law and my friend. I told all of them this is my story to tell so I would appreciate them keeping it to themselves. As far as I know they have not told. The people at work just think I am on a diet. For me, I made the right choice, I have no one preaching, judging or asking me about my weight.
  2. Don't take the shot on an empty stomach. Take it after you have eaten and that should help.
  3. My doctor does not put anything in the band until 6 weeks post-op. All doctors have their own way of doing things.
  4. Sounds like everyone is doing great with the Realize band. Glad to know. I was begining to think I was the only one.
  5. Lots of popsicles, fat free/sugar free of course! Also, get up and move, move, move, you will recover faster.
  6. Hey Jerseygirl, I am doing well with mine too, I was banded 4/25/12. I have 5.2 cc's and I have to take it slower in the mornings but no other problems. I did have one stuck episode but it was my own fault. Glad to hear your doing well and thanks for the reply.
  7. I was just wondering how many people have a Realize band. My doctor does both bands and let us decide. I had heard that the Realize band is a little more forgiving as far as what foods you can eat, so I went with it. Sometimes I feel like I must be the only one with the Realize band but I know that is not true. If you have a Realize band I would like to know how you are doing with it. Thanks
  8. I drink one every morning, on my drive to work. I then have a small snack, fruit or something at 9:30-10:00. Which gets me to lunch. SO basically the shake is my Breakfast. I only have one on the weekend if I need extra Protein.
  9. I was having headaches too, I finally figured out it was the caffeine (or lack of). You are not suppose to stop caffeine, you have to ween off slowly. I miss my Dt Dr Pepper.
  10. This is the best book ever, I wish I had found it before my surgery. http://jean-onthebandwagon.blogspot.com/ I also hear the cookbook is great, I will be getting it soon. Good luck to you.
  11. I mentioned all this to my PCP and he said, "you have to remember that when people feel bad or somthing is wrong they want to tell everyone. When people are feeling good, they go about their business and do not post. So think of it as 100 good to 5 bad, you just don't see them."
  12. I am raising my 6 yr old grandson. He needed to learn how to ride his bike without training wheels. I was in no shape to run down the street beside him, so at 6 he still had training wheels. When I had to get someone else to help him learn it hit me that if I want to be there for him I need to do something. I am now on the way to a smaller me so I can be here to see him graduate high school and maybe college.
  13. Great story marfar7
  14. I was on liquids two weeks after surgery, then to mushies or soft foods. Scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, soups, broth, sugar free jello, refried beans, fish, cheese sticks and applesauce besides they things you mentioned. There are probably more but that is all I can think of now. Are you drinking protein shakes? Proteins helps you feel full longer. I still have a protein shake every morning on my drive to work. Good luck to you.
  15. If you tell and it doesn't work out then you will wonder if telling them was the reason. I would wait until there is a real relationship and if it is strong, it will not matter. I definetly believe they should know if it is getting serious but I think I would wait.
  16. YEAH for you, what an accomplishment. I can not wait to get there with you. I am sure it is the best feeling ever!
  17. I don't know how many calories you are eating but I was doing 700-800 a day and not loosing. Everyone on here told me to kick it up 300 calories a day .......... crazy right? Well it worked, the first week again nothing, in fact I gained a lb but since then I have lost 2 lbs every week.
  18. I was banded on 4/25/2012. Everything is going great. I have had one fill, which was last week. May stats are on the bottom. I did get my butt up and started excercising. Not much has changed yet, my clothes are getting baggy.
  19. Fit in the rides at the amusement park. Walk a mile or more without getting tired or back hurting.
  20. Yes, I had to pay 20%. My part of the hospital bill was $3038. I have not go the surgeons bill yet, but I checked the UHC site and it looks like I owe $500 for her and the assistant.
  21. I took pain meds until the third day and was still uncomfortable for a couple more.
  22. It really helps to look over the menu before you go if that is possible. Most chain restaurants have nutrition lists. If not get a grilled chicked or grilled fish and do not eat the bun if it is a sandwich. Chicken salad is always and option too.
  23. They have it in most grocery stories. It is high in Protein. I never liked yogurt and now I eat Chobani's once a day.
