  1. My husband has strick orders no junk in this house. If it is not here I don't eat it. You are not too likely to hop in the car and run to the store because you want a donut. Look at the weight you have already lost, you want to keep moving in that direction. I hope you can do better after you get your fill. I am also getting my first fill this week. Good luck to us both.
  2. Sorry I can not help you on the Belgium surgery. Many medications can make you can weight. Have you and your doctor tried to figure out if it is one of your medications? My daughter gained 90 lbs on a medication and after she stopped taking it the weight slowly came back off. Just thought I would mention it.
  3. Flying in August , can't wait to fit in the seat without a belt extension!
  4. My surgeon required 2 weeks of diet that consisted of protein shakes for breakfast and lunch with a small protein packed dinner. Every sugeon has their own way of doing things, you will have to see what they tell you.
  5. One more thing, there is an awesome book called Bandwagon by Jean McMillan. I am half way thru it and wish I had found it prior to my surgery, it is packed with wonderful information. You might want to check it out. Here is the link if you're interested. http://jean-onthebandwagon.blogspot.com/
  6. Hi Barbee. The one thing I can say is do not get disappointed if it takes a while. I started this journey last year in August and was banded in April. It takes a while to jump thru the hoops for the insurance company but well worth it in the end. I called my insurance company and asked them exactly what the requirements were and then worked from there. Good luck to you
  7. I have been using CalorieCounter.com, not that it is better the MyFitnessPal it was just the first one I found. So I stuck with it......................
  8. I also live over an hour from the hospital, I did not stay over night and I did fine. I have been told to take a pillow with you to put on your stomach so the seat belt does not rub on you insicions, I took a pillow but didn't have to use it.
  9. Hi Megan, You will find this is an awesome site and very helpful. Good luck to you,
  10. This forum is awesome, you get a lot of support and learn a lot. I have only told a couple of people and I told them it is my choice to tell anyone else, if and when I want too. BUT I also believe you need other support as well. If you do not want to tell your family or a friend that is your choice, but you should find a support group to attend.
  11. Thanks for sharing your awesome story. You are and inspiration to us just starting out.
  12. Hi Gman, welcome to the world of the banded. I also had a hernia repair and had diaphragm pain for about 4 days, it hurt in my upper chest. I also stopped taking pain medication on day four. I could not lie on my left side for several days, I would go to bed lay on the right side and half way thru the night I would go to the recliner. It was just more comfortable. Within the week I was sleeping in my bed all night. If you are still in pain maybe you could just take the pain medication when you need it the most, say at night so you can sleep. Be sure you are taking something to help you go to the bathroom, those pain meds and the lack of good Fiber make it very painful to go. My doctor suggested MOM (Milk of Magnesia) and it works great. Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon.
  13. I feel the same way, this is a great site.
  14. My doctor gives a choice also, I did not stay. For me, I was much more comfortable at home but I have a husband who will wait on me hand and foot if I needed him to which I did not. I only have one very symapthetic 6 yr old grandchild who lives with me. With three kids and an unnurturing husband I would probably spend the night. You just have to decide where you would feel more comfortable.
  15. I almost backed out two days before surgery. I think everyone has what if's and second thoughts. Just remember why you started this journey and how good you will look one year from now.
  16. I had my surgery on Wed was driving on Saturday and went to work on Monday at a desk job.
  17. I was told Weight Watchrs was not ok for my insurance. I had to see a MD for 6 months.
  18. I drink unsweet ice tea with lemon and diet Ocean Spray cranberry juice.
  19. Way to go 2much fun, doesn't it make you feel good. The compliment and being able to play again.
  20. Funny Donna, That is what I thought about too, KFC mashed potatoes. I went passed the mushies and never did have my KFC potatoes.
  21. I also had a family member die from sleep apnea while they were waiting for their machine. I would never go a night without mine, it is not worth the chance of not waking up. Although I do sleep much better since I have had it, I can not wait until the day I do not have to use it any longer.
  22. That happened to me too and everyone told me to eat more, I increased calories to average 1000 a day. Now I have lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks. Listen to the help people who want to help you on here, they know what they are talking about.
  23. Awesome job Mis73, keep up the great work.
  24. Premier Protein shakes are great, I have only had the chocolate and they taste like chocolate milk. You will see them advertised on this site and as far as I know they only sell them at Cosco or Sams. My doctor sells powder to make shakes in her office so I have never had to look for good powder.
  25. Mine was two weeks, no bathtub, pool or hottub.
