  1. I always try to eat organic when I can. It is expensive, but I feel it is very worth it. Best of luck.
  2. Sorry are you eligible for Medicaid? Here in Illinois Medicaid does cover weight loss surgery. Also as it seems money finances are an issue, have you considered Mexico? According to many of the post here there are some top notch doctors and facilities at about $5000 a pop. Best of luck.
  3. Hugs..first I hope that you see what your father did for you as a blessing. There are many people here who want the surgery so bad, but do not have insurance nor can they afford this. You are truly blesses to have someone to take the iniative and help set this up and pay for this. Please don't feel like you don't have support, because you have us. You have seen the food advise above follow it. Have you thought about exersizing?? I can tell you if your 6 feet tall and once the weight comes off, and if your exercising you can have one h£ll of an athletic body. Try searching online for a local support group meeting.
  4. Haha... This is funny because last night I had a dream that I swallowed a big hunk of chewing gum..
  5. Wheesin I think you hit he nail on the head. The whole mucous thing sounds right on.
  6. Ok guys I'm so sorry about the spoiler alerts. That was not my intention. The food I ate was normal and I did eat slow. I think I may have just gotten too emotional and that caused me to vomit.
  7. Its a personal decision, there is no right or wrong answer. You do what you feel is right.
  8. So I ate, then started watching Grey's Anatomy and saw Lexie die, and I just started balling. Then all of a sudden I vomited my food. It was weird. Just had to get that out.
  9. Awesome... Thanks for the heads up..
  10. Don't take What your surgeon said personal. He's an ass and has no concept of your struggle. I think eating every 5 hours would be torture. That would almost be starvation. How many calories are you consuming?? I upped my calories for a few days to see if it helped the scale drop and it worked for me. You do have great weight loss. Keep up the good weight loss..
  11. All I can say it gets A little better every day. Hope you feel better soon. Welcome to the other side of your journey.
  12. Sounds like your body is in starvation mode, you won't loose weight easily if your not consuming the proper amount of liquids and food. Your ideal liquid intake should be 64ounces, if you are newly post op this may seem impossible, but little by you should work at attaining this goal. This should be your first priority as dehydration can get you back in the hospital. They key to liquids is sip, sip, sip. As far as foods you should try slowly consuming soft foods, it may be a whole before you can actually consume all your protein, but work on it, it is important. If you need to drink protein drinks to get your protein in. I hope this helps, and it does seem like a huge burden at first, but trust me when I say it does get better.
  13. I do measurements once a month. On my surgery anniversary.
  14. The surgery does actually effect hormones, so that could be it. But have no fear the journey gets easier/better with each day that passes.
  15. Wow, what an inspirational story. When one door closes another one opens. Best of luck to you.
  16. Welcome to the club. Remember the hard part is over.
  17. I only told a few family members and no friends. I'm sure my coworker/lunch buddy suspects something, as when it comes to lunch time, her response is we can go eat anywhere you can eat. Lol, at this point I really don't care, as long as they ask out of concern and not gossip. Pre op I really didn't want to say anything but now I don't give a damn, but on that note I still don't go around advertising it.
  18. I totally get it, I had to do my 6 month diet TWICE. I said something during one of my visits, along the lines that I was not able to exercise 5 days but I was able to walk, I also said that I had eaten out like 2 times. My insurance denied me because of that. I was really pissed. So the second time I said everything that I felt my insurance wanted to hear. It does go by fast. I wish you the best of luck.
  19. I think you did good. Your selections were good ones.
  20. Is anyone planning any out door exercise?? I will most likely bring out my bike this week. This is also great walking weather...
  21. Wishing you a quick recovery.
  22. Talk about best birthday gift ever.
  23. Haha... Well good luck, and I'll send positive vibes your way.
  24. Looking good. Keep up the good work.
