I Need Encouragement
when i want to be (encouraged) i merely glance at a picture of me in feb at my highest weight ever. that normally does the trick. But now i also look at my granddaughters new picture. but what i think about is mostly, what i went through to get here. the pre op and post op liquid diets. 4 weeks of liquid. if you can get through that, you can get through anything. you are stronger mentally than you give yourself credit for. put ur shoulders back, hold your head up. take that first step and get on with it. You can do this. we are here for you. all the best

I Keep Cheating!!!
hi kw, am gonna be tough-- you can stop (cheating) if you want to make an effort to NOT cheat and follow what you are suppose to do. say to yourself and remind yourself all you went through to get here. the only person you are hurting is yourself. my dr needed me to shrink my liver and if it wasnt, he wouldnt operate. that sealed it for me to not cheatt you've come this far, keep going. please note that after surgery, cheating on the diet could prove dangerous to your health.

Should I Take Vitamins Now?
i did my Vitamins up until a week before surgery and started again a week after all my vits are chewable (except my Iron which i have to crush) if in doubt, refer to your surgeon or the paperwork they gave you. all dr's are different. all the best.

Has Anyone Had Gallbladder Problems?
in 04 i had my gallbadder removed via emergency i lost alot of weight quickly and i went out for pizza one night with my friends and about 6 hours later, the pain in between my shoulder blades (very painful) hurt so bad, hub took me to ER. after numerous tests, xrays, they found out i had gallstones that was large. the next day after some prep, i had the operation. had same surgery as my bad with 4 incisions. only 2 are visible.

Has Anyone Read The Posts On OH?
i am also sorry for anyone who has (issues) but all surgeries, not just WLS has or could have problems or none at all. i feel it is wrong for them to scare people. please do not go there and read. i know whom u are referring too. there are some people who do try to help and offer support. Best to stick with this forum. i promise you will get all sides and support regardless of the issue w/o the doom/gloom stuff.

Has Anyone Read The Posts On OH?
yes, stay away from that forum. no positive or good can come from that..........please take what they say with a pinch of salt and if in doubt, ALWAYS REFER TO YOUR SURGEON.

Your Do Not Eat List..
my dr told me there is (nothing i cant eat) but that the choice was mine as to whether i chose to eat it or not (meaning high fat/high calories/slider foods). since i newly banded, there is nothing on my list yet. I do stay away from corn and potatoes though as they are very starchy (and peas). i am sure more will be on my list. i see it (the band) as something to help me feel fuller faster but not tell me what i can and cant eat. i make that decision. (for now, havent had a fill yet so i cant comment further).

LapBandTalk Newsletter 07/08/2012
I agree. In 04, I lost 50 pounds in about 6 months, and had to have surgery for this. Not fun and the dr said that is most likely what happened.

Restriction: Full Vs. Satisfied
read something yesterday about someone being banded and recently filled. but could eat all they wanted. How about staying with the guidelines? 1/2-3/4 I eat only. I am guessing I could eat more (if I wanted or if I tried) but I am making the mental decision NOT too. Sure the band will help us eat less, but we need to eat less (and better choices) . Just baffled by some posts.
-
Restriction: Full Vs. Satisfied
*** This may be true, however, just because you can eat more than a cup of food doesn't mean you should. More often than not, if you eat slowly and stop after eating no more than 1 cup of food, you will find that you are satisfied and no longer hungry despite the fact you could still physically eat more. Quit trying to test your band to see how much you can eat, because the only one that will fail the test is you, not the band. Mis, you couldnt have said this any clearer or plainer than this. This is 100% correct.

Feeling Yucky After You Eat
i do (if i ate too fast) or if i am not drinking enough. nothing to where i want to throw up or anything. have you called and asked the dr/nurse?
-
Increased Alcohol Intake
before surgery, you couldnt drink as you were readying your liver. after surgery you were healing. you made an effort to (not drink) as did all of us who had the band. drinking is okay. but do not use it as an excuse because you are not eating. you came along way and did alot to get this band. keep your mental game going.
