  1. heck no i am looking forward to the holidays i am gonna eat some of this and some of that and drink me some wine...and enjoy being w/my hubby 3500 calories is a pound ate or drank whether its Christmas or July 4th if we eat more calories than we burn off, we will gain..holiday or not.. so if we over do it calorie wise, get right back on it one heavy meal wont make us gain 20 pounds.... enjoy it....i know i am
  2. i suggest to the my fellow bandies and anyone with WLS to eat a bit of everything...eat slow and enjoy and DONT stress over it we are not on a DIET we are merely eating and we need to eat to LIVE that does not mean we have to clean out the mashed potato bowl and if you go overboard a bit, its OK...the world will continue to spin...GUARANTEE IT one (over indulgence) will not make you gain a zillion pounds one (meal of lettuce) will not make you at goal tomorrow its day in and day out eating 3500 calories ate/drank is a pound so this thanksgiving or christmas EAT let your WLS and your common sense say when (stop signals)
  3. the only thing i would add is that YES YOU CAN.......if you TRULY want too the WLS is merely a (helper).....the tool that brings one success if the one we already have ourselves
  4. mind over matter is how i see this just because its there does not mean we have to eat the whole bowl have a couple, enjoy and move on..(3500 calories is a pound/ate or drank) we are stronger than we know or give ourselves credit for we are not dieting, we are living..
  5. alex i cleaned my plate because i wanted too and went back for 3rds, 4ths until it was all gone..GLUTTON that is the truth...now my WLS wont allow me to do that so now since i cant do that (clean a plate eat a lot (which is what i did) you dont get up to a BMI of 62 by eating a small side salad btw i make sure i eat good things for me (lean Proteins, veggies/fruit)...i do not deprive but let my WLS of choice say when i am done...(*it tells you if you listen*) great post my friend
  6. BOOM I strongly believe that all procedures are safe and effective and that the choice of weight loss procedure is between the patient and their surgeon. well said alex
  7. OMG jim i am sooooo OMG in awe you were one of the first people who friended me on this site and you are still my hero..
  8. whatever one WLS one gets (or removes to get another) or whatever, lets just wish them luck..going back and forth with webpages and statistics solves nothing and its kinda pointless to be honest...we all got opinions.. i like UNC and catfish likes UK, who cares?? so whoever reads my words, whatever WLS you have or about to get, congrats and for best results, do as your doctor advises..and get well that is what it is all about anyhow..
  9. well all i will say is what i thought when i read alex's post. any WLS can work and any WLS cannot work sometimes it could be due to a patients incompliance or it could be an issue with the surgery or maybe a little of both... BUT for any WLS to work, (with or w/o WLS), we must eat less calories than we can burn off (and this is the truth and its reality to face and deal with head ON and accept. at one time the lap band was the bomb...then along comes a new gadget and all the naysayers jump on board and it will happen with the sleeve too (as it is now happening with the other WLS that are not as (popular)..esp if new and improved WLS are created..
  10. boston strong because my eye candy lives there love ya GF
  11. I am glad you are OK I love this blog post GF it needs to be on the main forum to REMIND people
  12. I do not fear (diet) as I have learned from being a former professional (dieter) now retired btw, that dieting does not work...the only thing I fear now is losing my ability to walk...that was a major reason I sought WLS because I let my self get so big..that I could hardly walk...that is my fear.......and that fear keeps me from backsliding or falling into the ( what am I doing wrong, I cant eat this BS and I am in a stall nonsense).....keep doing what is needed to be done.....eat, exercise and LIVE....... when you cant walk.......or clean yourself.....that to me is fear sorry, didn't mean to ramble....but this article touched me..thank you for posting...
  13. liked your post a lot.. i have found (in meeting people) some are eating low fat or fat free things or even sugar free and just eating to their hearts content.....all the while the 3500 calories is a pound ate or drank remains a fact to gain (or lose weight)...i see it as some foods are just better choices than others..and we CAN make those choices.....and by doing that, it is not depriving or doing without...its common sense since i can only now eat just so much i now eat GREAT.....and that is the pricer cuts of lean Protein and you know what, i deserve it......as we all do.. eating to live......not living to eat
  14. if one is truly hungry (and its not head (thinking we are because hub is eating my beloved BBQ chips) or i am bored or p*issy due to PMS, than i eat...i have learned that food is not the issue.....the issue is a combo of the calories in vs calories out......and me making the better food choices..not i am not always perfect and i do not deprive or do without.. but i know (thanks to a 4 1/2 all liquid pre and post op) that me not eating will not kill me or i wont starve.....LOL great post jeannie loved it
  15. nice one alex when (stalls or no weight loss happens) one must merely keep on doing what they are doing....by that i mean eating healthier/cleaner and exercising..sure change it if it works for you because by continuing .....the results will show ...maybe not on the scale just yet but def by clothes getting looser, better mobility and better lifestyle living.. setbacks happen its how we deal with it...one so called bad meal wont make one gain 20 pounds and one so called healthy meal wont make one lose 20 pounds...its day in and day out and keep on going... thanks for sharing alex
  16. i am in total 100% agreement with what Sharpie wrote. this is one reason i no longer post as much as i use to.. its one thing to say my WLS works for me and then say (the band or whatever) does not work ......as that is not true......any WLS works and any WLS does not work..with all things, results will vary.
  17. i like #2 i am one who feels food is not good or bad some are just better than others and we just need to choose better granted sometimes the not so great ones taste better IE mcdonalds french fries vs raw carrots LOL and 3500 calories is a pound (ate or drank) whether it is carrots or french fries great list..enjoyed reading it.
  18. great article i think the majority of the people know what is wrong with their (diet).. they seem to be hung up on (i am on a diet) .......i blame that on the past diets we all most likely did...over and over with the same results....lose, gain and lose and gain until we sought medical intervention.....i think many people also just eat the wrong things (easy, processed, fried, high calorie) in amounts their body cant burn off and it turns into fat.....that is what happened to me.....i do not diet..i eat what i like....but i take and am responsible for what i do eat and make better choices....sure i divert off path but am right back on it......and then some who have a WLS to help them just dont.... we have to make the choice to do the best we can with what we have (or dont have) and then do it without saying what am i doing wrong and start saying i am doing GREAT ...
  19. GREAT words. I can/could relate to nearly all of it. FYI, I am posting your article on my blog on word press. LOVE THIS
  20. understood Ms Jeannie......great post as always ♥
  21. thanks for posting this i enjoyed reading
  22. jean, i had to read this a couple times as i couldnt finish reading it as i was crying with what you wrote....you knowing who i am personally and knowing my fears/doubts first hand, understand why your words affected me that way. i know now that being (healthy) is way more important than being thin..just because one is thin does not mean they are healthy.....i want to get to a number/weight wise that is good for me and my body and one that is attainable..i will be ME and be only the best i can be...and in 20 months since WLS, i figured out that is good enough..... my hearts desire was to be able to push my granddaughter around the block in her stroller....before surgery i could not.....i can now.. oh, and to be able to wipe my butt again....mission accomplished
