  2. if you think you can't, you are doomed.....but if you think you can, and try *i mean really try*, you will......great post alex
  3. sally i was humbled to see your post on here and on your FB page about (my quote)...thank you for that.......its the truth... i fell if more people would (let) the band work/do its job, and them do their part and not expect a walking on Water overnight miracle, i am sure this surgery, the one that GAVE me my life back, wouldnt get such a bad name....... todays world, reality is quick... if the bad dont work quick eough, off to the next fix..... i am again thank you for a great post and will add your info to my blog on wordpress Thanks Carolinagirl, I love the quote on your footer! I shared it on my facebook page recently and it was very popular. You can see my page at www.facebook.com/NutritionforWLS Sally
  4. any WLS will work.....no one is better than the other. I feel if you do your best, do what your doctor advises you to do in order to have the best results, the sky is the limit.....the hard part is doing it..... i have the lap band/plication and have lost 156 pounds...so any WLS can and does work.....i feel the person is responsible for whatever they choose to work..... good luck
  5. great post.. i can relate to this as i feel it is true i spent my adult life (dieting and failing over and over) and lost belief that i would ever be healthy....i was destined to be fat...once i sought help, gave instuctions to follow for best results and tried and did the best i could/can, i started to get better..stronger and yes, healthier.. i see/read things of people and go gosh, maybe if i this or that and find myself slipping back into that dieting thinking/comparing me vs super person........where i know, that i am losing inches at my pace,,,,,,,and if i keep doing what i am doing, i will get there.........eventually as you wrote, it IS up to me....
  6. i dont have a support group to go to here.....i wish i did, truly so i use the next best thing.......this forum.....
  7. i also know that larger BMI people can lose more at the beginning also......why is vital to keep doing what one is suppose to do and realize that if you do, the scale will eventually show.....(i judge my loss by inches being lost) great post and i do watch your video on you tube
  8. eye candy.......all i can say is i love you and i understand and happy to see you vent because sometimes, we just need to and it is the RIGHT thing to do you have wings waiting for you in heaven
  9. sounded like a GREAT meeting to me. wish i could have went with you. i would have enjoyed it. thanks for sharing a great post.
  10. your in my thoughts/heart my friend........always
  11. the one thing i know is true (and my son as a baby did it) and i think of it often.....when the baby got done/ eating/full, he'd turn his head away....they (know) as a baby when enough is enough....sadly i did not but now my band/plication are assisting me with this...... GREAT post/article as normal Sally
  12. well, i must say i am lucky with my hub and my WLS. he totally committed to him and i eating better period...he himself has lost 25 pounds and his BP has dropped since we stopped with the high processed snack foods and every day take out. a WLS patient to me does not have to turn the entire house hold upside down because someone had WLS...better choices/options can be made....and sometimes we just have to say no and learn to say no or eat just a small amount.. this is a lifestyle...learned slowed, accepted as a life long change...eating better quality foods is a trait that can be (learned) but it also must be done for success and better health...we can say we want to lose weight and be healthy but the hardest part is to do.. hub and his friends/family still come over and eat foods....(the yummies stuff) and i can either eat a bit here and there and not fret so much or just eat something else (which is what i do)....and i also prepare more healthy options for everyone..sometimes they notice and sometimes they don't.. great post alex
  13. such a smart man and inspiration to us all banders and other WLS people alike.well said Jim.
  14. i saw myself all in this article... i find i spend my time overly concerned with how i affect people and if they are upset with me or whatever and in reality, what does it matter? is this because of my low self esteem or insecurity? is it because of my not so great upbringing? or because i was recently a super morbid obese woman and whose opinion of herself was so low it scraped the ground?? all i know, is that as i lose more weight and become more healthy everyday, my inner strength is building....little by little.....i may never have my ole mans WTFreek cares attitude but maybe i can learn to cut myself some slack sometimes......and realize i am not so bad..... Louisia, another excellent article
  15. i wish the world felt like i do now..esp since i took it for granted..*my health*....what matters is one being healthy....not skinny....i hate reading people saying i want to be skinny/thin....being healthy is so very important.. great article as always mary jo
  16. using this site (LBT) and now the new one, let me know i was not alone and that there are many people just like me who are trying to get well....some good ones and some bad ones.....but pushing forward..this site is a god send......take what you need, desire, leave the BS at the curb..
  17. “What was I afraid of?" i was afraid of not being able to walk *i was well on my way to that* and for my grandbaby to be (ashamed) of her meme..... i was also afraid of admitting i had a problem that i no longer could fix myself.....i allowed myself to get so large that only medical intervention could help.....thank goodness i found a dr for that.... i had to dig down deep one more time...get rid of the diet past yo yo's and let downs and TRY.....once more and do the best i could....its all any of us can do really. great article
  18. i ate sometimes because i felt like i had a big empty hole inside and the more food, the better chance of filling it where in reality, it only filled out my britches almost to the point where i was wearing skirts to fit around my girth.. i am not addicted to food..we must eat to live i was a volumn eater and by my WLS, it has helped with that i now choose to eat better things since i cant eat but so much and now fill that empty hole with (living) great article love reading the wide variety of responses
  19. per my dr and nutitionist (with me having lap band/plication, 1 cup to 1 1/2 cup of food is my limit my plication gives me that (full/had enough) feeling/sensation at about 1 cup...so i listen to my body. i think it is important to stop even when (we easily) could eat more... great article
  20. good to see you AJ and understand the struggles you are having...maybe not the extent you are experiencing but i can def (feel) your mental anguish, your being down on your self...you ARE most def loved by this forum and by your family and your friends and even Sammy Hagar......YOU are amazing....... you are and continue to be a success a great inspiration and one helluva woman. much love to you your friend forever VA
