  1. I had shoulder pain for months. I wondered if I was going to live in pain. Thankfully, it subsided and I rarely have the referred pain. I have some bad discs in my upper back and go to a chiropractor for adjustments and therapy. Its wonderful:) Hope you get better soon!
  2. Always start your day with Protein. There are a lot of Protein drinks (watch the sugar!) or you can make your own. I like Syntrax nectar. Keep your Snacks small and drink your water:) Find an exercise you can live with, and do it regularly. Be good to yourself and don't beat yourself up. The scale will move...down....
  3. Whoo Hoo....get ready for your new life. The first week can be challenging, but, time will fly by and soon you will be in the groove. You should be good to go for work next week. Congratulations and good luck!
  4. I think many of us have gone through the "what ifs". My fear of failure (in any area) has kept me from living my life to the fullest. Now, I don't know about you, but I just don't want to live my life that way any longer. I definitely had to get out of my comfort zone when I decided to have surgery. I am so much healthier and happier. It took a while to get my head wrapped around everything. Now, this is my new normal. I've had no complications and hope I never do. You are stronger than you think....
  5. Since losing just 34lbs, old friends look at me kind of weird...like they can't quite put their finger on it. The ones that have been through the journey with me (co-workers and family) give me lots of support. I feel so much better already. Just going in the closet and grabbing a pair of pants that never fit before and putting them on with ease is so cool. Makes me happy!
  6. I love wine on the weekend. Its a treat for me after working all week. I truly believe red wine is good for you....and its yum!
  7. Little things mean SO much! Awesome!
  8. My doctor says 48 hours of creamy liquids. I love cream of chicken Soup. Baked fish should work for you, its pretty mushy after you chew it. For me, the first few fills didn't provide a lot of restriction. It wasn't until my band was half full that I really felt a difference. Thats just me.
  9. I'll tell ya....I hate to exercise. That is, before I go. I drag my rear end down to the gym for 30 minutes or so, five days a week. Even that little bit makes me feel so much better. It takes a while to develop a habit, twenty one days is what the experts say. Its great to find an activity to do with your kids, but, its also good to have some "me" time, even if it is exercise, ha ha. You can do this!
  10. You've come to the right place. Are you ready? Insurance approved? Go for it!
  11. Welcome to your new life. Every journey begins with just one step. I am excited for you!
  12. Hang in there, you can do this! You are almost there...
  13. You are oh so normal! Always remember why you made the decision to have weightloss surgery, it will get you through.
  14. Do NOT get discouraged. Everyone loses differently. My weight loss did not pick up until my band was over half full and that was six months after surgery. I was losing a pound or two a month and now I'm losing a pound or two a week. Push...follow your plan, good things are coming your way. Remember, Protein first, solid foods, Water and exercise. Oh yeah, B.E.L.I.E.V.E in youself!
  15. Sounds like you both have had a rough start! I hope you get to feeling better. You can put this behind you and be on your way to a healthier lifestyle. Ps. If your doctor isn't taking good care of you, get a second opinion!
  16. You are on your way!!! I'm the turtle of lapband, but, a loss is a loss. Everyone is different!
  17. Thats awesome!!! It is hard to get your brain wrapped around it all!
  18. Coffee and Syntrax Nectar Cappuchino protein powder= YUM!!!
  19. Start your day with Protein. If you like coffee, you can buy Syntrax nectar Cappuchino. One scoop has 32 grams of protein. Eat solid foods as much as possible. It may be uncomfortable, but, it helps the process of learning to eat less. Watch out for the slider foods, if you have one, make sure it it healthy. Don't be too hard on yourself. Its not easy. My weight loss has been VERY slow until my band was over half full. You can do it:)
  20. Its been almost eight months since I've been banded. I've lost 34 lbs so, I've been shopping in my closet (ha) for a while. Many of the pants I have not worn in years now fit. I still pick out "baggy" clothes out of habit. I have not bought anything from a store until today. A couple of weeks ago I won a gift certificate to a clothing store ($25) and decided to stop in. I really needed a new shirt. (I have plenty of pants now, ha) Well, the shirt I bought is a size medium....I can hardly even type this. I have not been a medium in over ten years. I love my band! I love my band! I love my band! This is my first weightloss "wow". I wanted to share it with everyone that is on their own journey of weightloss. No doubt, losing weight is hard, even with the band. But, I'm here to tell you, it is absolutely do-able!
  21. Congratulations:) Diets don't work, Lap Band does!
  22. I have to bite my meds in half. They will not go through the band:( So far, now side effects) I take the 800mg ibuprofen and they are huge! I bite them into several small peices.
  23. Cream of chicken Soup, Protein drinks, popsicles and jello:) Soon you can mash up a sweet potato, add milk to make it extra runny and put some cinnamon and splenda in it...yum! Congratulations on getting banded! Welcome to the club:)
  24. Try not to get discouraged. I had the same experience. I lost eleven pounds while on the pre-op sugar busters diet and post-op liquid diet, then, immediately hit the wall. I was losing about a pound and a half each month and it made me crazy. The important thing to do is stick with the plan. Get your Protein, Water, Vitamin and exercise in every day. Some people are "turtle" banders like me. It was not until my band was over half full that I began to feel real restriction. Now, I'm losing about two pounds per week and I am so happy. I still drag myself down to the gym. I still goof up and eat the wrong things sometimes. But, its a process, a journey as they say. I hope knowing that there many people that have been where you are will inspire you to push through the next couple of months. If I can do it, ha, anyone can.
