  1. Google "Sugar Busters Diet"....its great. Watch the salt and drink tons of water. You can do this!
  2. Welcome to the journey! I take chewable Vitamins. My very favorite Protein drink is Syntrax nectar. I like the cappuchino flavor, I put it in coffee. They also have strawberry kiwi, fuzzy navel, Cookies and creme, etc. Now that sodas are out, I like some of the flavored waters. Excess skin...hmmm...what can I say, I'm 51, so it just doesn't snap back, ha. But I do exercise regularly and lotion up repeatedly during the day. After surgery I had chicken broth, popsicles and Jello. A day or two later I found out that I love cream of chicken Soup. After five days or so, I put homemade veggie soup in the blender. It wasn't pretty, but it was goooooood! Go get em'
  3. I lost 11lbs pre-op on the Sugar Busters Diet. I know in my heart and mind that if I had not had lap band surgery, I would have gained it back and then some. One of the posters said before the band they were never full. Now, I'm full....and happy!!!
  4. I had the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). It was about 560 yes or no questions that were re-phrased and repeated along the way.I just answered honestly and evidently I am not crazy, ha. Then I had an interview with the phsyc doctor (who was overweight too by the way). She just asked me why I wanted the surgery, and I was honest again. (failed dieting, health issues, etc.) Then she collected her $350 and gave me my approval. Just another hurdle.....keep jumping through the hoops, its worth it!
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the lapband club!
  6. I believe what you are experiencing is referred pain. My doctor explained that the nerves on the top of your stomach run to your left shoulder. Anyway, I had it BAD and wondered if I would have to live like this the rest of my life. Fortunately, it did subside and I rarely have any shoulder or neck pain. It should get better
  7. I am far from perfect. Still, the band keeps me in check. Even if I have cake, cookies or something fried, I can only manage a little. I know I could be losing faster, but, as long as I'm losing and living, I'll take that any day of the week .
  8. Count the days down.....you are so close. Its not easy, but good things in life rarely are. You can do this!
  9. I love my band Go for it!
  10. For me, the option of WLS had to build up over time. I kept thinking that I have lost weight in the past and I could do it again. I would lose and gain more over and over again. Then in the spring of 2011 I went to my cousin's wedding. The dress I wore was my "fat dress". It was so tight that the seam began to rip in the back whenever I sat down. I kept thinking "my dress is going to rip"...."how have I gotten this way"...."I'm so out of control"...This was my ah ha moment. I began to diet, again. My doctor said I needed surgery on my feet. My hips and knees hurt all the time. I had a realistic talk with myself. I finally knew I would have to have surgery. Do I want to have surgery on my feet, my knees, my hips or do I try lap band? I scheduled a consultation and had the surgery less than six months later. Foot pain...gone; Knee pain...gone; Hip pain...gone.....36lbs...gone.
  11. We get frustrated from time to time, no doubt. I think thats normal. I didn't get good restriction until my band was more than half filled. That said, I know I have to make better choices too. The band is just a tool. There are some foods that I just cannot keep in the house because I will eat them. Also, I had to make exercise a regular part of my life. I don't want to, but, I do. When I get on the scale and the numbers have gone down, I realize it is worth it. You can do this!
  12. I don't have PCOS, but, I can tell you lap band surgery is changing my life. I am so much healthier and happier. I wish this for you too:) Congratulations on having the surgery! Remember, the first six weeks are for healing. It takes several fills to feel restriction. You really have to have patience with yourself. I look forward to hearing about your success in the future. Find your joy....its out there.
  13. Oh yeah....whoop whoop....awesome:)
  14. Whoop Whoop....celebrate So exciting!
  15. Ahh...pre-op....tough it out....no taco.
  16. So eat a taco...why not? As long as you aren't on liquids or mushys, eat a taco....I had one for lunch Wednesday. I had the one I couldn't eat for supper, yum.
  17. I can only speak for myself. I love my band. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I too, wasn't lazy, worked my butt off, dieted, lost and gained more...over and over again. For the first time in my adult life, I have a tool that works. I still have to exercise and eat healthy. I would do it all over again.
  18. Your doctor can call in a prescription for cream that numbs the skin over your port. When you get your fill, there is a small stick that REALLY numbs the area and viola, no pain. I presume this is pretty standard procedure. I was SO scared when I got my first fill and the fear was much worse than the reality. Look what you've already done...you can do this too! Just do it
  19. Getting banded is one of the best things I have ever done for myself . Its a personal decision if you ask me. I got a little static from a few people, but, most of my family and friends have been very supportive. The band is a tool that works for me. The more I lose, the more committed I get to the journey. For me, the difference between dieting and having a lap band that gives me restriction is that I don't lose and gain, lose and gain.....I lose and maintain, lose a little more and maintain. I love my band
  20. I can no longer eat fast food which is good. The meat is too dry, bread gets stuck and its just too heavy. Scrambled eggs and tuna tend to get stuck too. I just have to slow down and chew, chew, chew!
  21. Welcome newbies!!! Congratulations....whoo hoo!!!
  22. My doctor put me on the sugar busters diet....google it....it works:)
  23. Protein Shakes will help. I usually eat cream of chicken Soup. If I am still hungry after the Protein shake, I microwave a sweet potato, mash it up really good with a lot of 1% milk (until soupy) put some healthy butter, cinnamon and splenda on it. Yum!!! It might sound a little icky, but, you can put veggie soup in the blender too. Its not pretty, but its goooooood!
