  1. No, I've lost half of my hair, but I really doubt anyone but me notices. My ponytail is about half as thick as it used to be. I lost hair again when I had my gall bladder out a year after sleeve surgery. I had thick hair to begin with. I have heard of some people who had thin hair to begin with and did decide to wear a wig for awhile.
  2. I take Protonix. It's a prescription, not OTC. It realy works well. There are quite a few PPI's on the market, so if the one you're taking isn't working, you can always tell your doctor you need to have it changed. I don't think it's going to be worse after you have surger, as long as you're on a PPI.
  3. Are you talking about at the hospital or at home after the first few days? Mexiali was very hot, so I can relate to being hot. I had a cotton thing with a zipper down the front too. I think way back when I first saw those things, my mom called them dusters. I wore that outside. In my room I wore baggy capri pjs and a baggy T shirt. They were loose enough that they did not bother my incisions. Once I got home, I just wore my regular clothes. It was not a a very big deal. None of my incisions were near my waist.
  4. Get your PPI changed. Some that work for others may not be the right one for you. It's not normal to have this much heartburn and your doctor should be able to get it under control for you. What is this 14 day treatment you're talking about?
  5. i was in Mexicali, not TJ. I met the dentist in the surgeon's office. I don't remember her name, but I sure would not recommend her.
  6. yes, it's not a good idea for anyone to take those types of medications regularly, no matter what size their stomach is. There is a huge difference between taking it every day every few hours, to taking it every once in awhile. I have arthritis but I take Celebrex which is not supposed to be bad for the stomach. Dr. Aceves knew I was on it and told me I didn't have to stop it.
  7. I had my teeth whitened while I was there but she did a really lousy job. And now my teeth feel weird and are very sensitive.
  8. I don't think it lasts much longer than about 4 months but I think the more you do it, the longer it lasts. I went the face lift route too.
  9. I'll ask the surgeon again the next time he comes to my support group. He's not the one who did my surgery, becaue I could not afford to have it done here. He's an excellent surgeon at a center of excellence which is pretty unheard of for his small practice.
  10. That is not true. I have had several doctors tell me we have normally functioning stomachs and we can take NSAIDS and asprin. It's not a good idea to take these things regularly every day, but we can take them.
  11. I hope everyone knows that as you get farther out, you will be able to eat more. I still don't go to buffets because it would be a complete waste of money, but I go out to eat all the time. Of course I can't eat as much as anyone I am with, but I feel like I eat a nice portion for myself. The days of only a few bites are long gone. I still bring half of my meal home, but I can eat way more at almost 3 years out than I could at only one year out.
  12. Sounds so fast and simple, so I am sure I'll be making it!
  13. Greek Yogurt is delicious and has a lot of Protein. If you like cottage cheese, it's got a lot of protein too. Oh no, nobody will read this because it's not friday anymore!
  14. I ate an entire bag of cheese popcorn. I've been eating very badly and the scale definitely gave me a talking to this morning!!
  15. Are you on an acid blocker? it's a very important prescription, especially for newbies.
  16. I got more than the required amount of proten from day one. I took Biotin and everything else anyone recommended, including Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. I still lost half my hair. It's crazy. I have always had really straight hair .It came back in curly. I don't know how to deal with curly hair. It gets reallly frizzy now if it's humid out. It's very weird but I don't think there is anything anyone can do to prevent hair loss. My friend never ate much Protein, and she still doesn't. She didn't lose any hair.
  17. It's been almost 3 years for me now. My kids know, my boyfriend knows, my best friend who was sleeved a week after me knows and that's about it. Everyone knows I work out like crazy. People are pretty used to it by now. While i was losing weight, I just told everyone I was doing a liquid diet for 2 meals and a low carb dinner and I was determined this time to not gain it all back. I was going to the gym every day before I ever had WLS.
  18. It depends on what you're eating. 4 oz of chicken breast is going to feel completely different than 4 oz of yogurt.
  19. You should post this on the board under the questions and answers because people can find it there easier. Stick with protein and low carb . Tuna with lowfat may and pickles is always good.
  20. Yes, I went on long stalls but then I would drop a bunch all at once It never seemed to make any difference what I did, as far as adding more Water, upping Protein etc. My body had a mind of it's own and would just lose all of a sudden when I gave up and thought I'd be stuck forever. Get someone to go with you for a walk or find a Zumba class. It's really fun. Exercise is always more fun if you can find a work out buddy.
  21. There is a really good Lean Cusine that I love that's chicken with cream spinach. It's pretty low in calories and fat and carbs. I bought a bunch when I found them because who knows if I'll be able to find it again. If I buy those things, I usually just throw away whatever carbs are in them. Healthy Choice is the lowest in sodium.
  22. chicken is hard to eat if it's dry. That doesn't sound like it will be dry. There should be sauce. Just make sure to cut it up small and chew like crazy and you should be able to eat it. I hope you enjoy it and that it does work for you! It sounds delicious. Congratulations! a 5 K is a real accomplishment!
  23. The sample packet you can get from Syntex has all the flavors for really cheap. It's a really good deal. The places to get samples thread is in the food forum. The Carribean Cooler is good and so is the Chocolarte Truffle. A lot of people really like Twisted Cherry too.
  24. He did my revision surgery nearly 3 years ago. Everyone here at VST has been reallly happy they chose him too. Good luck! You're going to love him and everyone there.
  25. I'm glad you found this thread because I looked for it once and couldn't find it. Dr, Aceves and his staff are all so great!
