  1. No, I have not had nausea or vomitting. Most people are thrilled to be sleeved and very happy. That whole blog made me mad because the woman did not know what she was talking about.
  2. It starts around 4 months, slows down at 9 months, and stops at about a year. There is really nothing you can do if it's going to happen. Most of us do lose hair; some more than others. I do have a friend that was sleeved a week after me and really did not lose any hair. She is so lucky!! I lost about half of my hair, between band surgery and sleeve surgery!
  3. Hey I grew up in Chicago! I know it's normal to worry, but you'll find that we all really love being sleeved. You'll be happy you did this! Complications are rare so as long as you follow your doctors post op diet, the chances of anything going wrong are very slim. Try not to worry and keep in contact with everyone on this board and you'll do fine. You're going to love being thin and you'll be much healhier for you and your son!
  4. I am almost 3 years out and I still prefer room temp or warm. Cold stuff just does not feel good in my tummy. It doesn't cause spasms, but warm and room temp just goes down way easier.
  5. Just go at it slowly. It took me a long time to learn to eat solids. I had to stick with Protein drinks and mushies for awhile while introducing solids slowly. You'll want moister meats. Cooking in a crock pot is good cause things are moist and tender. There should be some recipes in the food forum also.
  6. Read the band to sleeve revision forum here. There is a good reason there are so many of us who started wtih the band and ended up having to have it taken out. Living with the band is a complete nightmare! Also, read the complications fourm at lapbandtalk.com . I personally think that the lap band should be removed from the market. Some doctors are now refusing to put them in anymore. Unfortunately, too many doctors are making a fortune from all the fills, unfills and complications, so they don't want to stop in spite of all the damage it does to the stomach and esophagus.
  7. I agree that the Syntrex nectar products are really good. They are way better than Isopure. Go to the food secion under Protein powders and look for the thread on where to order samples. You can get samples of all the flavors for a really good price. I also agree that if you have a costco, the Premeire are really good. They are not thick, so they are easy to drink. They have 30 grams of protein. It's aroudn $22 for a case of 18.
  8. Can you buy Protein powder online? There are several good ones that can be bought online. See if you can get the samples sent to India. There is also a list of places to get samples in the food section under the Protein Powder section.
  9. Go to the food forum under protein shakes and there is a huge list of recipes to make your protein drinks taste really good! There are all sorts of things you can put in there!
  10. I am sure you fear the unknown. We all did when we had bands and nothing to compare that to I still go to the WLS support group at the clinic where my band surgeon practices. He is now doing sleeves, but at the time I had my revision he wasn't doing them. I remember a girl who came to support group who was really freaked out because he had to remove her band in an emergency surgery and she was sleeved. She agreed to be sleeved but knew nothing about it and was so afraid of what she had done. I asured her she was going to be really happy she did it. She came back a few times and talked over and over about how much she loved it. She could eat small amounts of anything she wanted and she never threw up or had food stuck. There is no way you will be able to eat a cup and a half of food for a very long time. I can now at almost 3 years eat a cup and a half of salad, or anything mushie. There is no way I could eat that much solid food. I can eat a piece of steak or chicken about the size of my palm and a few bites of veggies. I recovered very easily from this revision surgery. After the first 24 hours, I really could not even tell I had surgery.
  11. I still have to take a PPI. I did have horrible reflux problems wtih the band that would wake me up at night. I tried to wean myself off the PPI but it did not work. I have cut down the doseage though and I have no problems with reflux now. Feel free to ask me anything. You will love the sleeve. It's nothing like the band!
  12. There are plenty of us band to sleeve revisions who got to goal and have been able to maintain. The difference between a 34 and a 38 is only about a tablespoon so I really don't think you have anything to worry about. I had my revision all at once. I was just like you . I had gained some back from band problems but I lost it all during the post op diet. I am very happy with the sleeve. It has stretched a normal amount over the past almost 3 years. I am sure it will not stretch anymore and I am very happy with the amount I am able to eat. I eat small portions of anything I want. My weightloss has been fairly easy to maintain, as long as I don't' eat a bunch of candy!
  13. I really didn't have any recovery with the band to sleeve revision. I had surgery on a Wed and went back to work on Monday . I really could not even tell I had surgery, after the first 24 hours.
  14. You're welcome. I'm glad this helped. Eating slow is definitely a learing process!!
  15. There is really no comparison between the band and the sleeve. With the sleeve, you eat like a normal person. You eat anything you want, in small portions. Living with the band was a nightmare. Living with the sleeve is like living a normal life as a thin person!
  16. Okay, well I am sure you have been told this, but maybe others have not. The sleeved stomach is made from the most muscular part of the stomach- the least stretchiest part. The part of the stomach that is removed is the stretchiest part of the stomach. You're doing the right thing by measuring your food. In the beginning, if you eat until you're full at the table, you'll be in trouble in about a half an hour. It really is true that it takes our stomachs 20 min for our brain to tell us that it's full. That's why it's important to measure food in the beginning. It takes awhile to learn the right amount without measuring. I remember one time, I kept eating fish because it was so good. I ate until I felt full. After I was all done eating and I had left the table about 20 min later, I was so full I was afraid I was going to busrt my sleeve. It was painful. So to answer your question, yes, it does stretch out a normal amount with eating over time. You really don't have to worry about stretching it due to over eating. If you over ate that much, you'd be in a lot of pain. Plus you would get the slimes and probably throw up. That's one other thing. If you over eat, it's going to come back up before it will stretch the sleeve. You're still very new. You'll be able to eat more at 6 months than you can now, and you'll be able to eat more than that at one year. I am almost 3 years now, and I can only eat slightly more now than I could at i year. Feel free to ask anything if this does not answer what you were wondering!!
  17. Everyone goes through stalls. I never lost weight every week. You're doing great. You're going to be at your goal in no time!!
  18. You didn't say what you like to eat. There's a lot of foods you can eat at 10months out that's high in Protein. cottage cheese, Greek Yogurt, egg tuna or chicken salad, refried Beans and cheese are all really easy to eat. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Premier Protein drinks from costco. There's 18 of them in the box though but if you save receipt, Costco will take it back. Also, the Vitamin shoppe sells Pro pudding by Body tech. It comes in choc and vanilla and it's 25 grams of protein and it's yummy pudding for only 145 calories and 4 carbs.
  19. Stretch it out compared to what? Yes, it does stretch over time. But it stretches as much as it's going to, and then it can't stretch anymore. At one point, I could only eat about 4 bites of steack. Now I can eat a piece about the size of my palm, which is the same amount I could eat at about one year out.
  20. Isn't the magic bullet like $40-50? My dad gave me one and I gave it away. That little $19 Hamilton Beach takes up less room and was the best money I've ever spent.
  21. I have a Hamilton Beach mini blender that i got at Walmart for $19. I have been using it for 5 years. It crushes ice and does everything a regular blender does. I love it and I use it ever day. It's still going strong! That's much cheaper than a magic bullet.
  22. I just use Torrini or Davinci coconut syrup in the chocolate,. I have bought the coconut before but this is just as good and I have way too many containers around the kitchen and not enough storage! You're right though, it's delcious.!
  23. Are you able to drink Protein drinks? Many people just don't like them. I love them. I would think if you supplemented with Protein Drinks, you would be able to get enough protein and calories through out your pregnancy. Make sure to take your Calcium and Vitamin supplements. The baby will take what it needs from your body. You will still be able to lose weight after the baby comes, especially if you breast feed. Congratulations!
  24. I use the crushed ice that is on the door of my fridge. I use half the amount of water and add the crushed ice and blend in my mini blender. It gets really thick like a smoothie or a milkshake. Yum yum! I also like to mix the banana pudding and the choc. pudding together
  25. This is so sad for me. I was never very big. When I was fat I was about a 42C. I went for a bra fitting at Victoria Secret. There is no Somas here. I live in the middle of nowhere and in fact, had to go to Victoria Secret 100 miles away. Anyway, they didn't have a bra to fit me . Since losing weight, I have completely lost my boobs. I tried on several A cups but they were all too big. For some reason, I am smaller than I was in H. S. when I weighed less than this. I've gained a little weight back but not in my boobs! Baahhh!
