I have always been the girl with a "pretty face". Ugh! It's like a curse. I have been overweight for 20+ years. In March of 2005 I lost my best friend, my mother. It was very sudden and unexpected. I went into a great depression. Instead of dealing with my feelings and grief I just ate them. That September I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. This took a toll on my body physically, mentally, and emotionally. I completely let myself go. At one point I was 371 lbs! Howin the world did I let myself get to this point? I have thought about bariatric surgery many times, but always thought I can do this own my own. Well obviously I couldn't. I decided to have VSG and fortunately my insurance approved me the first time due to my comorbidities. The first couple of days post-op were a b***h. I could not keep anything down and ended up dehyrated and had to get IV's at home. (Luckily, I am a nurse and was able to be at home and not back in the hospital). Sad to say I have not followed the diet or used my tool to the fullest extent. I am working on that. I did not go through all of this process to fail! I am getting back on track with my protein and working out, hopefully this will break my plateau. Looking forward to a healthier and happier 2013. I am accountable. I will hold myself to it by being active on VST. This is a great forum to share, vent, and learn about others as they go through the sleeve and lifestyle changes. I have a beautiful 5 year old son that I want to be around for. I want to be the involved mom, not just watching life from the sidelines. I am an ER nurse, a couple weeks ago I responded to a code blue which was a good distance from the ER. I was able to run with the Dr to the code and was not out of breath when I got there. The Doc was surprised I could keep up with him. It felt so good! The NSV's will push me forward to meet my goal and keep me positive.
