I am in the hosptial
I think so. People have told me that the gas was probably related to gall stones. It would be really good to get rid of that embarrassing gas!

I am in the hosptial
I've been having gall bladder problems for a couple of months. I was trying to hold out until January since I have $1,000 deductible. Last night I was in so much pain, I had to go to the ER. It turns out the gall stones blocked a duct and now I have pancreatitis. The only thing that fixes that is nothing by mouth until further notice. I guess I will be losing that last 5 lbs that is so hard to lose. I would imagine I will be having surgery sometime this week.:thumbup1:

Post Op Diet HELP!
It would drive me nuts to have someone tell me what to eat. I eat whatever I want. I am sure you know how to pick from the food groups. Just don't over do it with carbs and you will be fine.

went to my 1st support group mtg
I love my support group. I haven't been able to go lately and I miss it terribly. Last time I was there I spilled my guts because so many people there had lap band and I wanted them to know that there are other options. this support group is for all surgery types. I am sure next time I go, people will have questions about the sleeve. Not many people around here have had it done. Gastric bypass and lap band are still popular, and I want everyone to know there is something better out there. I am looking forward to the next one.

eating has become a problem
Most everyone has to be on an acid reducing medication for at least 6 months following sleeve surgery. I am past 6 months post op. I tried to go off them and got a terrible stomach ache. It's not worth it. I am back taking my medication and I see no reason to stop it. I had a really hard time switching over from liquids to solids. Don't rush it. In the beginning I could only eat 2-3 bites. I got my Protein from Protein drinks and in between, I tried a few bites of soft foods and eventually it got easier. I think it takes longer than we think for our new tummies to heal.

Hunger Pains/Burping
I rarely burp now. I used to burp like crazy when I had band. As I stated before, it's gas coming out the other end that I have a problem with. It's very embarrassing and annoying.

slight setback
Norma, I am sorry to hear you need surgery soon. I will be thinking of you. I am so sorry you're in pain. It's good you got your sleeve surgery out of the way so you won't be recuperating as much from sleeve surgery while you are recuperating from your knee surgery.

Thinking of Making the Switch, but have lots of Questions!
I can eat anything I want. I have slimed before, from eating too fast and too much. It takes awhile to figure out how much to eat. I have trouble sometimes because I feel much more full after about 20 min. after I am done eating, so I have learned to stop eating before I feel really full. Life is so much easier with the sleeve than the band. Yes, it's true, I am never really hungry.

Aloha everyone!
You're welcome. Like I said, we are all always happy to help!

Most of us were on a liquid diet for a few weeks after surgery but if your doctor gave you the go ahead on the foods that you're eating, then you're doing great!

Protein powder with no sucralose?
Sorry you're not having good luck finding a Protein drink. Are you still looking for a home for your unjury? Maybe you should just have a Protein Drink with sugar. The amount you'll be drinking post op is not that much that sugar is going to hurt you. You'll be getting your protein from regular food shortly after surgery.

Exercise help here, please!

Want to have the sleeve done, but so expensive, anyone recommend Mexico?
It's really not much of a vacation when you go there. I had more of a tour of the area right around the hospital than most people. The lady I rode with in the van from San Diego spoke Spanish and she wanted to go to the mall. I had fun the day before surgery!

Crazy "what if" question related to travel....
go Norma! Twobluecats, I hope you still like the Jay Robb after surgery. So many people have said that their taste changed after surgery. Mine did not. I like everything exactly the same as I did before surgery. Good luck! I hope everything goes well for you!

Band to Sleeve Surgery tomorrow 11-9-09
You're right about that! You're going to lose lot's of weight! I hope you don't have any trouble getting lots of liquids in these first few weeks. It's necessary to get in a lot of liquids in order to make breast milk. I am sure you will not regret your decision, in the long run!

Aloha everyone!
Hi there, Honestly, I don't know what causes hiatal hernias, but it seems like more of us have them repaired during sleeve surgery, than people that don't have one at all. I had one too, and I didn't have spasms. I take some pretty good sized capsules for interstitial cystitis, and I have taken them since a week after surgery. I tried opening them up and putting them in liquid, but they tasted too nasty. I have had no trouble taking them and I had my surgery 6 months ago. Feel free to ask anything. We are all glad to help.

The majority of us have had our sleeve done by Dr. Aceves because he does 3 leak tests, and practices in a great hospital, not a clinic. he is wonderful, on top of all that!

Crazy "what if" question related to travel....
I think the reason I was not the least bit tired after surgery was because I was able to get in tons of Protein. I didn't have the issues of not liking my Protein drinks, so I got over and above the required amount of protein. The same goes for Water. I had no trouble drinking the way some people do, so I had over and above the amount I was supposed to have. My problem was drinking slowly. I was only supposed to have 2 oz every 20 min. and I had to watch the clock so I didn't have 8 oz in one minute.

Greek Yougart Eaters, a question?
It's great stuff. Plus I like eating things that have calcium since I can't drink milk anymore.

Wisdom about the sleeve
I think yogurt is fine. There is non fat yogurt. I eat non fat blue berry Greek yogurt with 10 grams of protein and 100 calories. It's a great snack, non fat with protein.
