Try mixing it in yogurt or sugar-free pudding -- I have a few flavors I love mixing in some regular or greek yogurt or some of the sugar free syrups.
  2. A week and a half out I was still on liquids so I didn't have any experience with mashed potatoes. Just go slowly and sip your liquids. Once I moved to mushies it was 2-3 bites for me and I was done. I stayed on liquids longer than I was told to because I just felt better on them. I experimented with mushies a little bit at a time, until I could progress past the 2-3 bites.
  3. I am so glad to hear from you Norma! I thought Sergio was a doll just as sweet as can be too. Of course I loved everyone else as well. Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. Let us know is we can be of any help while you're on the post op diet. You're going to have fun watching that scale go down! Glad to have you on the losers side!
  4. What I got out of reading that is that leaks happen mostly immediately after surgery. Are we safe to assume if we make it past a couple of months, we won't get a leak?
  5. Happy Birthday Susan! I hope you have a great day! It's a perfect day to indulge yourself in a big ol piece of cake!
  6. Since I got my sleeve surgery, I have horrible gas. It's so embarrassing. I know to stay away from sugar alcohol. Eating that stuff is a big mistake for me. I will toot for hours afterwards. Yesterday I made a new discovery. Regular sugar give me gas too. I went to a kid's birthday part and they were serving cup cakes. Plus I had a mini snickers and I was tooting away for the next few hours. I also believe that Splenda gives me gas. I notice if I eat an Atikins Protein bar with no sugar alcohol but they do contain splenda, I am tooting within an hour. And of course milk products give me gas too. I seem to be okay with yogurt though. Beano and gas X do not seem to help. Does anyone else have a problem with gas? Have you narrowed it down to what will cause it? What do you do for it?
  7. oh sorry. I read it as don't brush for 15 min if you get the slimes or vomit.
  8. I am always at the gym in the mornings but any time you want to chat, send me a message.. I check this site regularly through out the day
  9. I stayed on liquids mostly in the beginning. I am one of the lucky ones that likes my Protein drinks just fine so it was easy for me to drink them rather than eat in the beginning. When I started to eat, honestly, I ate 2-3 bites in the beginning and I was DONE.
  10. At 3 weeks we were allowed mushy foods. I ate a lot of chicken, tuna and egg salad around that time. There is also a recipe for the ricotta bake here in the food section.
  11. I accidentally bought the children's gummi vitamins at Costco. I never know how many to take since they aren't adult vitamins. They taste so good I am always tempted to eat more than I should.
  12. Yea, I am due for another bone density test too.
  13. I think it's important to take calcium no matter what the labs show now. Having a loss in calcium later on in life can have devastating effects. My friend's mom has broken her pelvis, leg and arm. Each time was because she slipped an fell, but they told her that her bones were very brittle. If we aren't drinking a lot of milk, by the time it shows up on a lab test, it's too late.
  14. Vomiting with the sleeve is not the same as when you vomit because you are sick. There is not a lot of acid because usually the food comes up pretty quickly undigested from either eating more than your sleeve can handle, not taking small enough bites or not chewing your food well enough.
  15. It's good to take vitamins and a lot of people take chewables or liquid for the first few months post op.
  16. I eat pizza every week. I always take my son and DIL out to pizza once a week. I can eat one piece of pizza and I really enjoy it. It fills me up so much that it doesn't bother me to watch them eat all the rest of a giant pizza.
  17. I get hungry girl emails just about every day. She always reports on new foods she finds that are low cal and healthy. I'd like to get her book, but then again, I don't cook.
  18. You are a month past surgery so you should be able to eat mushie foods now. Mix up some tuna, or chicken salad. You will get full from just a few bites. They have tiny cans of chicken salad already made too. I ate a lot of that stuff in the beginning.
  19. There are a lot of ways to get Protein from drinks. There are the nectar drinks that you can order online. There is a thread in the food forum on where to order samples of different kinds of protein. There is also a rate your liquids thread. I wasn't allowed any mushie food for 3 weeks post op. Mine was 10 days of clear liquid, then 10 of full liquid before I could move to mushie foods.
  20. I have the chat window open while reading posts, if anyone wants to talk.
  21. Did you order any samples for your post op diet?
  22. Tomorrow will be 6 months for me and I can drink a tiny bit of milk but anymore than that and I am sick. I agree with Mac. Cereal will not be a good choice because there is basically no Protein in it and a tiny bit can expand in your new stomach and will feel horrible. I am still losing my hair, and I feel like I am losing muscle even though I work out with weights and have for the past 5 years. My skin is hanging in places it never did before, even though I have not lost anymore weight. Keeping your protein up in the high range is really important to prevent losing muscle and hair!
  23. I have to do it in front of the tv. I plan my exercise according to what I want to watch on tv. Start out slowly until you can build up more resistance. Intervals are good too. That is where you go up and down on the resistance.
  24. I am nearly at 6 months post op. People have said that the hunger comes back at 6 months. I am happy to report that today I hardly ate anything. I just wasn't hungry, and I reminded myself that I needed protein so I ate. The hunger does not seem to be coming back.
