Crazy "what if" question related to travel....
I would not have had any trouble going to disney that soon after surgery. I felt great within 48 hours of surgery. I could not even tell I had surgery. If you think you can follow the post op diet while out of town, go for it!

can't get a grip
Maybe you could go back to the basics for awhile. Have you heard of the 5 day pouch test? It's great to do to get rid of cravings. 2 days of liquids only, 2 days of mushies, and one day of solid Protein. If you could get all the carbs out of your diet for a few days, you would not crave them.

Hunger Pains/Burping
Burping would be a lot more welcome than the passing gas that I have. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I am wondering if it is a gall bladder issue.

protein shakes-I'm going to starve!
I used to drink Atkins RTD before I got the muscle milk light and premeire from costco. They are not my favorite, but I like the convenience of just opening something. I can do that now with the other 2 and they are way cheaper.

Band to Sleeve Surgery tomorrow 11-9-09
Having my band removed and getting the sleeve was the best decision of my life. If I were you, I would not want to have 2 surgeries. I did not have any problems getting all the Protein and liquids in right after surgery. I also feel the same as Tiffy in regards to getting a bigger sleeve. You can always have small meals more often if you need to, so you can keep breast feeding. We will all be here to support you!

slight setback
Norma I am sorry to hear about your knee. You'll do fine losing weight with the sleeve. I don't think it will slow things down. Hope it feels better soon.

Protein powder with no sucralose?
So does that mean that splenda is a sugar alcohol? I didn't know that, if that's the case.

What should I be feeling a week and a half out?
we all had that problem at first until our diet progressed to mushy foods. It's normal. Liquid in, liquid out.

4 weeks out SOFT DIET?
Mixing cottage cheese with yogurt is good.

VSG while staying crunchy. Is it possible?
Dr. Aceves office gives you a paper while you're in the hospital with common terms in case one of the nurses doesn't speak English. All of mine did though.I think most of his staff does.

H1N1- positive
Thanks. That's good to know. I have been wondering how they can tell if it's that or regular flu. I hope you're feeling better today.

H1N1- positive

I am wondering what the title of this thread means. "staying crunchy is it possible?

4 weeks out SOFT DIET?
That is a pretty complete list. I lived on those little cans of already made chicken salad, as well as egg salad and tuna salad. You can put anything you want into the blender. I would stay away from soft that are soft but are carbs. Carbs make us hungrier. That leaves white fish, tofu, there is a recipe in the food section for a ricotta bake that is good, poached or scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and any kind of veggie that is cooked well so it it is mushie.

protein shakes-I'm going to starve!
There is a thread in the food section where you can order all sorts of samples. I love muscle milk light. it's chocolate not malt. I get that at costco as well as the premiere costco brand. I also love PVL whey gourmet Peanut Butter chocolate that you order from netrtion.com Everyone is right. Everyone has their own favorites. It really is best to get some samples and try a few out.

Vsg 2 1/2 years ago
What section in Costco? I make a costco run every couple of months since the nearest one is 100 miles from me.

I have heard of it both ways but only been able to find it frozen. I would suppose you could put it on a cookie sheet and make a crunchy snack.

Making the Switch
Good luck. There are quite a few of us here who went for the band to sleeve revision. It was the best decision I ever made and I just wish I had known about the sleeve first.

I still have questions...
I didn't have to do a preop diet. Every doctor is different when it comes to preop diets. Your doctor will tell you what he wants you to do.Some require a liquid diet, some just a low carb diet, some none at all, if your BMI is not high.

how much time out of work
I had my surgery on a Wed. in Mexiciali, went home on Sat. and went back to work on Monday. I have a desk job as well. I felt fine. In fact, I felt like I could have gone back to work on Friday but I was required to stay in the hospital, bored out of my mind because I felt so good. I spent my time walking all around the neighborhood of the hospital.

Huge disapointment
I'm so sorry Judy. I am sure your medication will do it's job and your bp will come down. You'll be having surgery soon, I just know it.Keep your chin up and maybe do some relaxing things like a bubble bath, massage, or whatever relaxing thing you like, until the medication starts working!
