    I'm Bored...Quarantine

I get up and shower, get dressed and put on a little makeup every day. That seems to help. If I don't have a cleaning project in mind, I do Zoom Pilates with my friend who' a teacher, which is awesome. Then I walk the dogs. I'm also on "help" groups for my neighborhood on NextDoor and Facebook. Yesterday I helped four people file for unemployment by answering their questions. I've taught people how to order food online and picked up medication for my brother-in-law who has cancer. Doing things for other people really makes me feel better and less bored.

    Wondering WHY I did it!

I had my surgery on feb 10. I had lost about 20lbs on the 3 week pre-op. I gained almost 10lbs from iv fluids and medicines. It took me over 2 weeks to lose those 10 lbs. I’ve since lost another 18lbs - in 5 weeks. I’d love for it to be faster, but any loss is great. I am also eating 600-700 calories a day. But I’m also not quite as active a I was in feb and March, what with the extreme cold weather and everything locked down. Sadly, some of us lose slower than others. That was the case for me before surgery. I always lost slowly, so continuing to lose slowly after surgery isn’t really all that surprising.

    Wondering WHY I did it!

Sounds like you're in the "buyer's remorse" stage of surgery. I'm sorry you are going through this but it's a phase that I went through as well and pretty common from what I hear. Often times we are forced to deal with our issues when we can no longer use food as a crutch to make us feel better so depression is very common. Your body is also trying to deal with a rapid decrease in calories and potentially hormone changes. It doesn't help that we are currently facing a pandemic while you're trying to heal and find a new normal. One thing I was told many years ago when I started my journey is people who have food addictions must be very careful in making sure they do not turn to a different addiction (alcohol, drugs, shopping, sex, etc.) in an effort to please the same part of the brain food used to. Take one day at a time. I promise you are stronger than you think and you will get through this. (((HUGS)))

    Ever forget you had surgery?

It's been 10 years since I had my VSG. I honestly never really think about the fact I've had surgery due to how long it's been. I'm used to eating small portions. I typically either share meals or order kids meals. I will admit there have been times when I'm eating somewhere that has amazing food that I really want mentally but my stomach says I have no more room. That rarely happens, maybe once a year.

    I'm Bored...Quarantine

For some reason I expected the board brimming with posts because people are, well... bored. However, the board seems more quiet these days.

I had just started my process and was close to getting my surgery date. I just hope I can get my date schedule this year before I have to meet my deductible all over again.

    Ever forget you had surgery?

Not yet. I get full way too easily and my eating habits are something I watch closely since I have to get a minimum of 80g of protein a day. So, that probably will never happen to me lol. Forgetting, I mean.

Hi all, looks like my surgery may not go ahead due to the coronovirus and limited travel in Europe. I am really devastated because I have been so anxious, took 3 years to take the plunge and book the surgery and flights to have it almost cancelled.
