    Received A Bill Finally

bypass the dr's office and go to your insurance company. I received a bill from the hospital for $12800 and it is because they filed it as my surgeon, anesthesiologist and hospital as all being out of network! I had to literally call them weekly to make sure they were staying on top of it and getting everything refiled and in the end they sent ME a check for over payment of approximately $98. I researched the surgery for 2.5 years before doing it and knew exactly what I would be responsible for out of pocket and kept ALL receipts and correspondence information between myself, the hospital, dr's office and insurance company. The dr's office doesn't care whose oversight it is as long as they get paid. Contacting your insurance company and making sure they filed everything correctly is worth a shot. Good luck!

how do I make myself try new foods?

It is really hard but doable! And just because you don't like something the first time, if you keep giving it a try, you may acquire a taste for it, whatever "it" is. But... in the meantime, the fact that you like brocolli and beans is a great start. Really good for you. Do you like chicken? Turkey? If so, there are a billion recipes for chicken. And anything that I used to make with ground beef, I now do with ground turkey. And love it! Meatloaf for example. There are pasta substitutions, though they also may be an acquired taste. You've heard of Zoodles? THese are "noodles" made from zuchinni. You can get the spiralizer anywhere, especially Bed Bath and Beyond. There is also spaghetti squash. You make these and then put whatever sauce you normally put on your pasta. Now, keep i mind, they aren't exactly like pasta but I know what I discovered is that it really isn't the pasta I like, it is the sauce. Which really helps. I'm betting you don't like to cook? If that is true, you should learn to cook or take some cooking classes to take you to that next level. I know that there are some good recipes out there that are really tasty, even for picky eaters. Try this recipe. It is perfect during the puree stage but also later: Baked Ricotta with Marinara This is the one that everyone RAVES about! 8 oz of ricotta cheese ½ cup grated Parmesan 1 large egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Salt & pepper to taste ½ cup marinara sauce ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly.

    Help needed!

Hi Russ, I did increase my activity on Saturday. However I’m wondering if I may have pulled an internal stitch as it’s now sore when I eat as well as move which it wasn’t before.

    Difficulty with Pre Op Diet

It is tough to lose the weight under that pressure with a time constraint, and as others have said, most of us have struggled to lose modest amounts of weight for years and years before coming to the decision to have weight loss surgery. That being said, even if it took you an extra month to lose the weight the surgeon wants you to, that’s still only four months and many of us here waited six months or much longer even for a surgery date so you still would be in good shape. And it would still likely be less time than joining a new bariatric program. Focus on lean proteins, vegetables, and fruits, and stay away from processed foods and soda. Incorporate some modest exercise into your week. These are changes you will need to implement post op anyways. You can definitely lose a few pounds and show progress to the surgeon in another two months just by making those changes. Best of luck!

Mary Jane is Legal Where I Live

Thanks! This validates the point I was trying to make. This is underreseached and could be helpful at some point in the future. I'm going to stop following the thread because some comments seem overly personal and critical.

My nut told me that if you are following the plan and you hit a stall to just keep going. She said they are expected and the weight loss will be like going down steps not sliding down a slide. She also said if you are in a stall and see a small gain not to panic.. she said if you are getting all your protein your body is building muscle not fat. Then the numbers will start going down again.

If you've read about stalls, then you'd know that the 3rd week is pretty much a given. If you are following your instructions, and getting as much water as you can... then don't worry about it.

Gosh we're all so different! I actually was cleared to eat whatevs at 3 weeks. And ate a tiny bite of steak without problems!

Many times people notice but say nothing. Bless these people. Once the comments start, they don’t stop. People constantly pressure me for precise amounts of pounds I have lost. It’s none of their business. Not trying to be rude but your average person can’t really fathom what you weighed or how many pounds you lost. For example a coworker said to me....wow you must have lost like 30 pounds....
